As the Campylobacter species are found in chicken and beef, so utilization of contaminated undercook chicken and unpasteurized milk products is a significant reason for diarrhea. This case report describes a rare prosthetic joint infection caused by Campylobacter jejuni. The patient ate the undercook Leghorn chicken wings, and after 12h of the meal, he started suffering from a diarrheal illness that followed the prosthetic joint infection. The patient had undergone arthroplasty seven years ago. He started copious, watery stool output along with experiencing pain in his left hip and leg. After blood culture and synovial fluid culture trials, results revealed C. jejuni, identified by using MALDI-TOF MS (matrix-assisted laser desorption/ ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry). The patient recovered after surgery and following a prescription of intravenous and oral ciprofloxacin therapy. This case describes the rare event in medical history that Campylobacter jejuni that may be causing prosthetic joint infection. Its occurrence is rare in the oral cavity; however, inside the oral cavity most common site is anterior two-thirds on the dorsum of the tongue, presenting as macroglossia. Macroglossia compromises the airway, often leads to obstructive sleep apnea, malocclusion, and speech and mastication difficulty. The main objective of tongue LM treatment is to preserve the taste sensation, restoration of the tongue size for articulation and cosmesis. We report a rare case of transient intermittent macroglossia due to LM. The patient presented with painful swelling of the tongue, relative macroglossia. There was spontaneous regression of LM with antibiotics and corticosteroids. LM can grow suddenly due to infection or hemorrhage and can shrink spontaneously. Upon treatment of the infection, there is spontaneous regression, total or partial. Therefore, expectant management should be considered in the treatment of tongue LM, to preserve the functions of tongue.","PeriodicalId":145303,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Infectious Diseases & Case Reports","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130341640","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: An observational case series of four cases of ocular tuberculosis. Detail history, thorough ocular and systemic examination, Fundus fluorescein angiography, B-scan untrasonography ; Optical Coherence tomography scan, Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate, Skin test for tubercle protein, histopathological examination of biopsy from lesion were performed according to the cases. Diagnosis was made by clinical history, ocular findings, appropriate ancillary tests and laboratory investigations according to the merit of the diseases. Response to anti tuberculous therapy (ATT) were observed which gave an anchor to the diagnosis. Results: Among four cases of ocular tuberculosis ,three were female last case was male and all of them were at or under the age of fourty. Two patients had extra ocular manifestation; one was tuberculous dacryoadenitis & other was tuberculous dacryocystitis. Two patients had eyeball involvement; one was tuberculous necrotizing scleritis, another one had tubercular vasculitis retinae. Out of four three had unilateral involvement. Three of them respond well to anti TB & anti inflammatory therapies; one respond to anti TB therapy only. Conclusions: Tuberculosis can affect any structure of eye and adnexae.The diagnosis is difficult because of diversity of presentation and most of the time there is absent of concurrent systemic infection. Early diagnosis and treatment can prevent blindness or severe ocular morbidity. In cases of non healing lesion and atypical inflammatory presentation, we stress the need for a high index of suspicion regarding tuberculosis.","PeriodicalId":145303,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Infectious Diseases & Case Reports","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128374352","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this review, we focus on pathological immune restoration in AIDS patients after antiretroviral therapies (ART) initiation. This manuscript discusses the importance of T cell immunity for antigen-specific immune reconstitution and the production of cytokines, which are divided into 2 subgroups: interferons (IFN), and interleukins (IL). We overview the role they play in connection between innate and adaptive immunity during immune restoration. We describe how hypercytokinemia produced by innate and adaptive immune cells, leads to the manifestations of tuberculosisassociated immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome (TB-IRIS) in AIDS patients during the recovery of CD4+ T cells on ART. The WHO later announced that a novel coronavirus had been detected in samples taken from these patients. Since then, the epidemic has escalated and rapidly spread around the world, with the WHO first declaring a public health emergency of international concern on 30 January 2020, and then formally declaring it a pandemic on 11 March 2020. The condition has been given the official name of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) [2,3]. The disease is characterized by fever, dry cough, chest pain with pneumonia and Death in severe cases. Several clinical trials are under process for the development of effective vaccination and novel drug therapies. Therefore, in this review, we provide recent information about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19 formerly known as 2019 nCoV) caused by SARS-CoV-2, its Taxonomy, Epidemiology, pathogenesis, Diagnosis and Treatment options along with a brief review of the management of mild to critically ill patients. In this Review Article, We also included a special note on Artificial Intelligence (AI) which is emerging as a lifesaver in our fight against COVID-19.
