A sparse Bayesian reconstruction method is proposed, which is based on the spatial-temporal correlation structure of real non-stationary spectrum signals sensed by multiple cognitive sensor nodes. Novel wideband spectrum detection and data recovery algorithm are implemented by hierarchical Bayesian analysis model, with higher detection probability and lower reconstruction Mean-Square Errors (MSE). Numerical results confirm our theoretical derivations. It is indicated that, compared with Orthogonal Matched Pursuit (OMP) reconstruction algorithm which is based on greedy algorithm, the proposed Tree Structured Wavelet (TSW) BCS reconstruction scheme has advanced detection performance and lower MSE during data recovery process. Meanwhile, fast convergence could be realized in lower compression rate, which provides the effectiveness of our algorithm and proves that it is suitable for wideband spectrum sensing and data sparse reconstruction in large-scale Cognitive WSN.","PeriodicalId":145041,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"109 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115170865","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A different pseudo-random interference sequence, different from the signal's synchronization sequence, is used to track and interfere with the synchronization header in the original signal. With this known pseudo-random synchronization interference sequence, the interference overlapping on the original signal can be nearly cancelled, meanwhile the original signal can be successfully demodulated and decoded at the own receiver without severe interference. However, the other receivers, directly receiving the hybrid signal composed of the original and the pseudo-random interference signals, will fail to recover the original signal without the knowledge of the pseudo-random interference sequence. Compared with traditional full-band full-time noise blanket jamming in communication countermeasures, the advantages of this smart jamming scheme are its low power consumption and up to 100% chance of successful jamming. Simulation results and hardware implementation both show that this scheme can effectively and essentially interfere with the signal at low power consumption.","PeriodicalId":145041,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115397999","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Under complicated environments, for example, there are different types of sources existing in the far field or more than one source in the same direction, common array processing methods do not consider these situations. But they will bring difficulty when we want to acquire the characteristics of these sources. Some sources may be indistinguishable in space, but they may be distinguishable in time-frequency domain, which we can use while analyzing the sources. The paper adopts spatial filtering and time frequency distribution (TFD) to deal with these situations. Spatial filtering can keep the sources in a particular direction from being interrupted by sources in other directions and extract the original signals in that direction, while TFD is used to analyze the extracted signals in time-frequency domain to get some information of signals of the sources, such as the frequency range. Simulation results prove the effectiveness of the method.","PeriodicalId":145041,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114657899","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a PAPR criterion, we use a cubic metric (CM) that directly corresponds to the transmission back-off of a power amplifier. In the analysis, we present the best ring ratio for the star 32 or 64QAM scheme from the viewpoint of minimizing the required received signal-to-noise power ratio (SNR) considering the CM that achieves the peak throughput, i.e., maximum error-free transmission rate. We show that the required received SNR considering the CM at the peak throughput is minimized with the number of rings of M = 3 and 4 for star 32QAM and star 64QAM, respectively. Then, we show with the best ring ratios, that the (4, 12, 16) star 32QAM scheme with M = 3 achieves a lower required received SNR considering the CM compared to that for the square 32QAM scheme. Similarly, we show that the (4, 12, 20, 28) star 64QAM scheme with M = 4 achieves almost the same required received SNR considering the CM as that for the square 64QAM scheme.","PeriodicalId":145041,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"422 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116989002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose to combine incremental relaying (IR) with the time division broadcast protocol (TDBC) to form a new scheme, termed TDBC-IR, to increase the spectral efficiency of TDBC. Assuming half-duplex decode-and-forward relaying, the performance of three protocols, TDBC, TDBC-IR, and physical-layer network coding (PNC), are studied and compared, in terms of outage probability, expected rate (ER), and diversity-multiplexing tradeoff (DMT). It is found that 1)TDBC-IR has the same outage performance as that of TDBC and better than PNC; 2) the ER of TDBC-IR is greater than TDBC and PNC in the whole signal-to-noise ratio region, i.e., TDBC-IR has improved spectral efficiency performance; 3) the maximum achievable diversity order of TDBC-IR and TDBC are both two whereas that of PNC is one; 4) the maximum achievable multiplexing gain of TDBC-IR is one, which is better than TDBC (its maximum achievable is 2/3) and achieves the maximum of PNC (its maximum achievable is one). Since multiplexing gain reflects spectral efficiency, the DMT analysis confirms the spectral efficiency advantage of TDBC-IR over TDBC.","PeriodicalId":145041,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"1217 49","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120878519","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, for the communication scenarios based on the directional antenna, we design a cognitive retransmission mechanism. The mechanism can increase the probability of successful retransmission on one hand, on the other hand, it can dramatically reduce the route discovery time in ad hoc networks. For factual applications, we propose a QoS constrained cognitive routing algorithm named as QoS-CRA for wireless ad hoc networks. This algorithm adopts the strategy of initiating the route discovery by the source node, but making decision to choose the best route by the destination node. The simulation results demonstrate that the cognitive retransmit strategy is far more efficient than the traditional one and different QoS parameters in our algorithm can meet different application requirements.","PeriodicalId":145041,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126156273","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We introduce a two-stage game in a progressive optimization. In this scenario, the relay is considered not only as a sender that assists the information transmission, but also as an eavesdropper who can wiretap information. In the two steps, we design two different form of utility function for ensuring the reliability in the relay channel and enhancing the security capacity of each user. In addition, the existence of Nash Equilibrium in the two steps of the game model is confirmed. In the proposed RS multiplexing scheme, multiple transmission-stream-specific RSs are multiplexed using orthogonal CDM into the same original resource elements (REs) through oversampling of the fast Fourier transform (FFT) (or inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT)). Hence, the required REs for the increased number of transmission streams, which correspond to the number of transmission antennas, can be reduced compared to that for the conventional RS multiplexing scheme that uses a combination of frequency division multiplexing (FDM) and time division multiplexing (TDM). Computer simulation results show that when the RSs for the third and fourth streams are multiplexed into the same REs as those for first and second streams using orthogonal CDM, the same block error rate performance is achieved as that for the RS multiplexing based on the Release 8 Long-Term Evolution (LTE) radio interface for 4-antenna space-frequency block code (SFBC) plus frequency switched transmit diversity (FSTD).","PeriodicalId":145041,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128472001","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
