However, they can’t operate during cloudy periods or at night. A hybrid cooker (solar-biomass) is an alternative that uses an endogenous and renewable energy source for ecological and economical cooking. In this work, the performances of a hybrid cooker (solar-biomass) are evaluated. The experimental results obtained indicate that the absorber plate reached a maximum temperature of 121.60 °C. Moreover, the maximum power of the cooker was 78.47 W with an efficiency of 29% in solar mode and 28.4% in biomass mode. The first and second figures of merit parameters performed are 0.1043 and 0.2732 respectively. The results obtained are conclusive in both solar and biomass mode.","PeriodicalId":14487,"journal":{"name":"IRA-International Journal of Applied Sciences","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134975210","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Typically, the images obtained from multiple sources are acquired at distinct times and from different viewpoints, rendering a multitude of challenges for the registration process. Furthermore, different areas of the human body require disparate registration functional capabilities and degrees of accuracy. Thus, the benefit attained from the image multiplicity hinges heavily on the imaging modalities employed as well as the accuracy of the alignment process.  It is no surprise then that a wide range of registration techniques has emerged in the last two decades. Nevertheless, it is widely acknowledged that despite the many attempts, no registration technique has been able to deliver the required accuracy consistently under diverse operating conditions.  This paper introduces a novel method for achieving multimodal medical image registration based on exploiting the complementary and competitive nature of the algorithmic approaches behind a wide range of registration techniques. First, a thorough investigation of a wide range of registration algorithms is conducted for the purpose of understanding and quantifying their registration capabilities as well as the influence of their control parameters. Subsequently, a supervised randomized machine learning strategy is proposed for selecting the best registration algorithm for a given registration instance, and for determining the optimal control parameters for such algorithm. Several experiments have been conducted to verify the capabilities of the proposed selection strategy with respect to registration reliability, accuracy, and robustness.","PeriodicalId":14487,"journal":{"name":"IRA-International Journal of Applied Sciences","volume":"26 1","pages":"55-72"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88162782","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research assessed the relationship between nutritional status and quality of life (QoL) of the 52 paediatric cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) Eldoret, Kenya. A cross-sectional analytical design was applied and the researcher administered a questionnaire and Nutritional Risk Screening (NRS-2002) instruments were used for data collection. The statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) version 21 was used to analyse the data descriptively. The findings revealed that nutrition impact symptoms were more pronounced in the second and third stages of cancer where most of the respondents experienced vomiting (94.3%),  decreased appetite (80.8%), and diarrhoea (69.23%). The use of the Nutrition Impact Symptom (NIS) checklist in the paediatric oncology clinic/ward triggers more therapeutic interventions. The awareness for NIS will likely evoke more research in assessment, impact, and treatment.","PeriodicalId":14487,"journal":{"name":"IRA-International Journal of Applied Sciences","volume":"77 1","pages":"48-54"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85205534","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The essential article goal is to simulate thermal construction responses in dependence on changing different materials of the construction of the building and also with less energy usage to design a more effective cooling system. In this approach, we simulate the building with different materials: three local materials (compressed earth, lateritic, and raw material) and one modern (Hollow cement) used in Burkina Faso and an energy analysis of the building has been carried out. The numerical optimization of the building design has been performed dynamically for these four materials using the COMSOL multiphysics simulation tool. The model treated is determining the internal temperature and cooling demand concerning a tertiary building in Burkina Faso like a classroom, which is located in a hot and dry climate to improve the indoor quality of the classroom knowing the importance of the thermal comfort in the room for socio-economic performance efficiency and well-being. The analysis result of these four materials shows that energy can be saved if we use local materials instead of the modern one because around 4KW of energy can be saving with local materials. The use of local materials in the building design can be an option for reducing the heat transfer into the room and at the same time the energy consumption.","PeriodicalId":14487,"journal":{"name":"IRA-International Journal of Applied Sciences","volume":"44 1","pages":"1-14"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79274217","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

If some of these children suffering from MAM do not receive adequate support, they may progress towards severe acute malnutrition (SAM), which is a life-threatening condition. Therefore, the management of MAM should be a public health priority A well-balanced diet was prepared based on the recommendation of WHO for the treatment of moderate acute malnourished children aged 6 -59 months.  According to the formulae, nine products of RUSF were prepared using cereals, legumes, seeds, oil, sugar, and vitamin and mineral premix. Three products of RUSF MSPe, PBPe, and ISPe were found to be better among the nine products by the mothers after sensory evaluation. Based on sensory evaluation in children, RUSF   MSPe was found to be the best among the three products. The product was analyzed for proximate composition, mineral, vitamin, digestibility of protein.  The protein, fat, carbohydrate, dietary fiber, total ash, vitamin C, Vitamin A,  iron, calcium and zinc of 100 g of the product were found to be  15.9g, 33.7g, 44.3g, 6.6g, 2.2g, 54.6 mg, 855 µg,  14.1 mg,  66.6 g and  12.4 µg respectively. The diet can supply 544.5 Kcal/100 g. The energy contributed by the protein, fat, and carbohydrate was found to be 11.68%, 55.7%, and 32.62% of total Kcals respectively. The protein digestibility adjusted to the chemical index PDCASS was 0.95. Hence, the prepared RUSF is in accordance with the specification given by WHO which could be effective in the treatment of moderate acute malnourished children after the clinical trial.","PeriodicalId":14487,"journal":{"name":"IRA-International Journal of Applied Sciences","volume":"14 1","pages":"22-33"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86514255","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
