To demonstrate the adequacy of the approach the analysis of two cases have been illustrated. First case deals where the load addition was under maximum power generation limit and in other case, it surpassed the maximum power generation limit. The postulation of short-term load forecasting for household level has evolved with this transition in the power system. However, fluctuations and uncertainty in the load profile of individual customers make it difficult to predict. This paper presents the implementation and comparison of three machine learning based approaches to accurately forecast the meter level aggregate demand using consumption data of a few major appliances. The forecasting techniques include the feed-forward neural network (FNN), long short-term memory (LSTM) network and particle swarm optimization (PSO) based FNN. The results prove that PSO-FNN exhibits better forecasting accuracy while the conventional FNN has better computational efficiency.","PeriodicalId":144846,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Engineering and Emerging Technologies (ICEET)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127844091","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper emphasizes on one of the key operational optimization problem \"Multi-Area Economic Dispatch (MAED)\" and address the remedy using a very rigorous technique known as Polar Bear Optimization Algorithm (PBOA). MAED's main objective is to reduce the total fuel cost by evaluating the optimum dispatch strategy of generating machine in each area by justifying their predicted demand loads. The system and operational constraints reflected in the proposed approach are defined namely as area power balance, tie-line power sharing capacity, generation operating boundaries and as well as transmission line losses. The main advantage of employing PBOA is its feature of balancing the search agent size by kill and growth mechanism simply known as dynamic population control. The performance and robustness of the proposed algorithm is assessed by implementing it on the IEEE standard test system of 2 Area-6 units with fuel cost convex in nature. The computational results and comparative appraisal with other available literature methods dictate the strength and effectiveness of PBOA over others.","PeriodicalId":144846,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Engineering and Emerging Technologies (ICEET)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130666071","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in the developing countries, the industry devices are operated on manual control, therefore industries required fmances and men’s power to manage electronic machines. This work aims to provide automated control to the industry devices by developing an Embedded System (ES) that is further coupled with a personal computer (PC) to regulate the status of devices. The status (OFF/ON) of the devices can be seen on the web browser. Moreover, we have developed a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is in HTML to see the status of devices online. The GUI is equipped with a secure mechanism by including a separate login page and password to access the control. It ensures that only authorized individuals can access and monitor the status of connected devices. The proposed architecture is capable of providing ease to the offices, industry and homes by providing remote access to the system. Additionally, the GUI can be opened on smartphones, laptops, tablets due to autonomous control. The proposed system is energy-efficient, robust, and affordable as compared to the existing automation systems.","PeriodicalId":144846,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Engineering and Emerging Technologies (ICEET)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114366642","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The line commutated converter (LCC) based HVDC converters generate a wideband electromagnetic disturbance (EMD) during the switching ON and OFF process of thyristor valves. This EMD is propagated throughout the HVDC system and influences the performance of primary and secondary circuits by conductive and inductive couplings. Line faults, lightning and switching transients further complicate the high frequency (HF) EMD issues. This paper presents the wideband model of LCC module and tower for the insightful analysis of EMD characteristics. The previously ignored wideband parameters along with background and impulsive noise produced from thyristor valves are also modeled and injected in the LCC valve module. The wideband modeling of LCC station will help to overcome the issues of EMD prediction, overvoltage and especially will facilitate to standardize the existing issues of the current relay protection system.","PeriodicalId":144846,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Engineering and Emerging Technologies (ICEET)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124147971","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In all these sports the intent is to either throw the ball as far as possible, or to get an unpredictable swing of the ball to deceive the opponent. Soccer is one of the most played and watched sports today and the only equipment it uses is a soccer ball. Owing to increasing importance and popularity of soccer, a lot of research has been done recently for better understanding of aerodynamic parameters and flight path of soccer ball. Knowledge of effects of aerodynamics on soccer ball can be very significant for players who can incorporate that knowledge in their playing tactics. Similar research can also play a significant role for the ball manufacturers to design and manufacture soccer balls that can favor the aerodynamics of the ball in order to make the sport more exciting to play and watch. Small variations in the design of ball like panel size and method of attachment of panels can change the aerodynamic properties of the soccer ball. Velocity, spin and surface are major contributors towards variation in flight path and aerodynamic parameters of the soccer ball. In this work 3D Computer Aided Design models have been developed and their aerodynamic parameters have been calculated through Computational Fluid Dynamics. Effects of surface geometry have been analyzed numerically for smooth sphere and a soccer ball. Validation of results have been done for comparison of results obtained through commercially available solver and wind tunnel tests ofvarious authors. The difference in results obtained through numerical and experimental means have been analyzed and discussed. These results have also been compared with results obtained by various researchers using different numerical and experimental techniques. Recommendations have been made for all significant aerodynamic design considerations of a better soccer ball.","PeriodicalId":144846,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Engineering and Emerging Technologies (ICEET)","volume":"123 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132827434","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A system needs to be developed that can find the precise location of the occurred fault in the system for all the three phases R, Y, and B for different types of faults conditions. By Ohm’s Law, it is found that the resistance of the cable is proportional to its length under constant conditions of temperature and the cross-section area. Here a system is developed which consists of a microcontroller, LCD display, Fault Sensing Circuit Module, Wi-Fi Module, and proper power supply arrangement with regulated power output. Current in the circuit is sensed by the relays which are interconnected with the microcontroller. The fault sensing circuit is made with the combination of a set of series resistors and switches alongside each resistor. This proposed system is simulated and tested on PROTEUS version 8.1 and the hardware is designed on the basis of simulated design.
