The function of car-following has the ability of tracking control, including longitudinal and lateral control. System has two tasks which are environment identification and steering control. To accomplish the car following sensing task, environment information provided by LiDAR and monocular vision is used to verify the correctness of LiDAR detection. A camera is an embedded device to map LiDAR data onto image and verify the detection ability. LiDAR sensor which has one-dimensional scanning ability can measure the relative distance from preceding vehicle by scanning the horizontal plane with laser beams. The speed variation tracking is implemented by Fuzzy algorithm, and vehicle control is applied as the steering control strategy to keep up with the trajectory in lateral control. The control actuator gets related data using CAN. Environmental clutter becomes the main challenge in data processing when LiDAR tries to track the desired vehicle. From LiDAR data and camera information, this paper also provided a data fusion algorithm to do verified consideration. From relative position, the steering control is applied with curvature in pure pursuit control. In related experiments on ARTC campus, this system shows its ability to enhance driver assistance service and realize an adaptive tracking safety by using sensing information.","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130342320","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, we present a realistic and large-scale evaluation of the environmental impact of this system. The proposed method improves the efficiency of this form of public transport by determining, on the fly, the best match between taxi user requests, which leads to a reduction of the total and vacant travel distance. Our results show important reductions of CO2 emissions with full deployment of the system, reaching 9% under a higher demand scenario.","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131542953","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the important problems for DSRC deployment is maintaining high performance under heavy channel load. Many studies use NS-2 to simulate hundreds vehicles for packet congestion. But in this paper we built on three DSRC WAVE Boxes and one PC. Two devices located in roadside, one located in vehicle. The communication protocol of the DSRC device which set to converter mode is USER Datagram Protocol(UDP). We follow SAE J2735 for message format. The purpose of this standard is to support interoperability among DSRC applications. We installed three WAVE Boxes and PCs in ARTC's test-bed. We set a WAVE Boxes to be a jammer. The jammer can simulate many cars to interfere the communication. After experimented, we can understand the issues needed to consider for the design of the DSRC radio test under heavy channel load, providing the designers for reference in the future not only to solve problems but also help to setup a test-bed for testing DSRC radio under heavy channel load.","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132518931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, searching for parking space during long time leads to drivers stress and wasteful energy loss. In order to solve these problems, the navigation system in parking area by using ZigBee networks is proposed in this paper. The ZigBee is expected to realize low power consumption wireless system with low cost. Moreover, the ZigBee can form ad-hoc network easily and more than 65000 nodes can connect at the same time. Therefore, it is suitable for usage in the large parking area. In proposed system, the shortest route to the vacant parking space is transmitted to the own vehicle by the ZigBee ad-hoc network. Thus, the efficient guide is provided to the drivers. To show the effectiveness of the proposed parking system, the average time for arrival in the parking area is evaluated, and the performance of the vehicles that equips the ZigBee terminals is compared with the ordinary vehicles that do not equip the ZigBee terminals.","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128202982","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current Italian legislation does not include such Service neither among the “public utility services” ruled by the Maritime Authority (Coast Guard), nor among the “general interest services” ruled by the Port Authority. The lack of a clear definition of the Service is the source of an uncertain situation, in which the activities of the Port Informers derive from local ordinances issued by the single Harbor Master's Offices (Capitanerie di Porto, local office of the Coast Guard). From a different point of view, the continuous evolution in the technological equipment of the authorities involved in port operations, with systems such as Vessel Traffic Services (VTS), Automatic Identification System (AIS), Port Management and Information System (PMIS) and so on, urges the Port Informers to share a common process of migration, in order to be fully integrated in the exploitation of the opportunities made available by the new technologies. A strong need was thus felt for a new regulation of the services provided by the Port Informers at national level, in order to promote a necessary uniformity in the provision of the Service, and to better support the management of port security, maritime traffic monitoring and navigation security.","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"990 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133304989","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the minimum mean-square error (MSE) criterion and under the total equalizer power constraint, multi-input multi-output (MIMO) equalizers are designed for equalizing-and-forwarding the signals from the source to the destination in the time domain. An iterative algorithm is proposed to obtain the optimal solution by using the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (K.K.T.) conditions. With these optimal MIMO equalizers, the MIMO distributed relay network can effectively mitigate the inter-symbol interference (ISI) and achieve both the spatial and multipath diversity gains. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional one-tap equalizer scheme for MIMO distributed relay systems in terms of the bit error rate (BER) performance.","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133962023","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, adjacent-lane communication interference has become a serious problem for high vehicle density case. In this paper, the field distribution of the communication zone of ETC system is simulated by hybrid FDTD-PO method. Firstly, the roadside unit (RSU) antenna is simulated by the FDTD method. Secondly, the field distribution of the communication zone around the onboard unit (OBU) is obtained by the PO method based on the near-field data of RSU antenna. To investigate the adjacent-lane communication interference in detail, three kinds of RSU antennas are considered and the field distributions on multi lanes are compared with the theoretical results.","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127762051","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So far, existing eco-driving assistance systems mainly offered raw instantaneous fuel economy to driver. However, inexperience driver still had the difficulty to turn raw fuel economy information into proper eco-driving behavior. For this situation, an intelligent eco-driving suggestion system based on vehicle loading model was developed. The instantaneous fuel economy was computed according to the information from vehicle on board diagnostic system. In addition, fuzzy inference system was applied to estimate eco-level and fuzzy rules were utilized to establish a vehicle loading model. The appropriate eco-driving suggestion was analyzed by built-in artificial intelligence and can be displayed on any Android portable device. Finally, the developed eco-driving suggestion system was ported on Smart Vehicle Information Gateway, installed on real vehicle and tested on real track. The experimental results proved that 7% fuel economy can be improved.","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117247077","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unlike many car-oriented or space-oriented methods, the proposed system is parking-lot-oriented. In the system, we treat the whole parking lot as a structure consisting of plentiful surfaces. A surface-based hierarchical framework is then proposed to integrate the 3-D scene information with the patch-based image observation for the inference of vacant space. To be robust, the feature vector of each image patch is extracted based on the Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG) approach. By incorporating these texture features into the proposed probabilistic models, we could systematically infer the optimal hypothesis of parking statuses while dealing with occlusion effect, shadow effect, perspective distortion, and fluctuation of lighting condition in both day time and night time.","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114195844","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Modeling, simulation and estimation of urban traffic are necessary, particularly mathematic models. This paper propose a novel mathematic model based on CTM named Urban Cell Transmission Model (UCTM), which is a macroscopic model for simulating urban traffic. We use a fixed proportion of turn whenever vehicles meet a junction instead of origin-destination matrix. We consider the density of each cell composed of three different directions for inflow and outflow as left-turning, ahead, right-turning. From the computational results of numerical examples, we find that the jam propagates fast at the beginning and has its upper bound of jam size. We also study jam dissipation, and we observe that both the Critical Time of Block Clearance (CTBC) and the initial density have significant effect on the jam propagation and dissipation.","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126904878","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
