To detect the interfering signal, sub-band pulses of a multi-carrier type are prepared as template waveform in the detector. The received signal is correlated with the sub-band pulses and the correlation values are compared with the threshold value. The proposed detection technique is applied for the correlation detection that is often used for the demodulation scheme of the pulse-based UWB system. The DER (Detection Error Rate) and FAR (False Alarm Rate) performance are evaluated to show the effectiveness of the proposed interfering signal detection technique and the performances are compared with the ordinary scheme by using FFT. Both configurations allow for a simplified interface to amplifier and filter. In addition, one of the configurations also have odd-order harmonic suppression. Measurements show good modulation properties when a 16 quadrature amplitude modulation signal at 100 Msymbols/s is demodulated for both prototypes. Focusing attention on the respiration and heartbeat signals, we show the impact of relevant parameters, like the sampling time interval, on the ability to extract the desired signal parameters from the waveforms elaborated at the receiver. The role of the UWB pulse shape is also highlighted. The use of UWB signals can provide distance measurements with high accuracy, but a big challenge is caused by high attenuation and low signal-to-noise ratios as well as by stationary cluttering. The situation gets worse if a moving object must be tracked as is given in vital sign detection, a problem which is the background for this contribution. We propose an algorithm based on particle filtering for coping with these problems. It includes a movement model. Current state of research solves the related upcoming challenges by just using inverse scattering algorithms and a 2D scan track (which provides only a limited perspective) or applying such algorithms only to objects with rather simple concave or convex contours. But a full perspective of the object needs circumnavigation to extract entirely all stereoscopic distributed contour pixels. The applicability of the known Range Points Migration (RPM) is investigated. In order to reconstruct a full 3D object contour, the so far planar scanning of the antennas is modified and extended to a spatial scanning including the z-axis. This paper addresses multibeam satellite secure communication using PHY-SEC. We propose a novel system design that minimizes the satellite transmit power subject to the individual secrecy rate requested per user constraints. An iterative algorithm is proposed to update the transmission power of each beam and to achieve the optimal power allocation strategy. The convergence property of the algorithm is proved under justifiable assumptions. The experimental setup consists of an ultrashort monocycle pulse transmitter (30 ps), an UWB sampling receiver and UWB antennae (3.1–10.6 GHz). One dimensional Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) model was used to model the electromagnetic wave propagation and assess the feasibility of oil quality detection using UWB RADAR. Performance of the UWB RADAR was analyzed through detailed experiments. The adulteration of gasoline and high speed diesel with kerosene was increased from 1% to 12% in steps. Using time of flight analysis the variation in adulteration of gasoline was detected from 1%. Adulteration in high speed diesel was detected using frequency domain analysis. Further, the level of water in the oil storage tank below the diesel or gasoline level can be accurately estimated. Detailed experiments with multiple batches of gasoline and high speed diesel were conducted. We first show that for this receivers, the matched filter waveform depends on interferer phase and amplitude, and it can become null for jammers with carrier frequency close to that of the desired channel. We then show that by multiplying the transmitted signal with an appropriately chosen, non-pseudo-random, unit-norm sequence, the baseband energy is maintained within 6 dB of the ideal (no interference) regardless of blockers. However, due to the nonlinear/non-Gaussian behavior in the system and measurement models, current cooperative localization algorithms either cannot capture such behavior or suffer from high computational complexity. In this paper, we establish a general framework for designing cooperative localization algorithms based on belief condensation (BC), which is an iterative process that accurately approximates the intractable distribution of nodes' positions arising in cooperation by amenable parametric ones.
