The so-called specific absorption rate (SAR) is calculated from the amount of electromagnetic energy emitted by mobile phones and absorbed by the human body. It was found that the measurements obtained are within the allowed values, which suggests that the radio frequency emitted by these mobile phones does not have negative effects on human health. These devices have a SAR value provided by the manufacturers, but such values are not completely reliable However, the possibility that its use may cause other harm to human health is not ruled out. The measurements and experimental results were part of the development of a project at a Public University in Mexico City. Â","PeriodicalId":14296,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Sciences: Basic and Applied Research","volume":"100 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80282539","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, this work intends to characterize the directions of the SO, to understand how the management of these organizations is carried out and, further, to understand their view on the adoption of strategies. Additionally, the organizational culture is characterized. We opted for qualitative methods and used the methodology associated with content analysis to examine the information collected from a sample of SO directors in Vila Nova de Foz Coa, namely, the Residential Structures for the Elderly (RSE), in order to analyze the weaknesses of the directions in the management of these SOs. The results of the case study partially confirm what was predicted in the theory, that is, the SOs are currently faced with several challenges and it is essential to adopt strategies in order to overcome these same challenges. What can be seen is that, although the directors aspire to an efficient and effective service provision, there are several challenges imposed on the directors, calling for the adequacy / improvement of management in the SO. Corroborating the literature, in the study we found that the directions of the SO consider that the increase in competition, the hiring and professionalization of Human Resources (HR), sustainability, the establishment of partnerships and the diversification of funding sources are presented as their own. greatest vulnerabilities. Thus, the managements should seek solutions to face the complexity that involves the management of all organizational processes, attesting that the challenges and requirements of preparing, planning and organizing all resources are great. What has been seen is the adoption of strategic planning at different levels and levels of conducive effectiveness that seek to address the needs of organizations.","PeriodicalId":14296,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Sciences: Basic and Applied Research","volume":"45 1","pages":"156-171"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73775511","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to define the phenotype of NK cell in the context of antiretroviral naive HIV-1 infection. A total of 85 ARV naive HIV-1 infected and 55 healthy individuals were included in the study. Purified NK cells alongside bulk Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMC) were surface stained with fluorochrome conjugated antibodies and samples were acquired using a BD FACS canto II flow cytometer. A down-regulation of CD56 + /CD16 - and CD56 + /CD16 + NK cells (p= 0.003), and a significant expansion (p= 0.03) of CD56 - /CD16 + NK cells subset was observed in ARV naive HIV-1 infection. The high expression of both CD38 (p= 0.02) and HLA-DR (p=0.001) in the CD56-/CD16+ NK cells subset, shows the activation status of NK cells from HIV-1 infected people. A reduced expression of activating markers NKp44 and NKp30 and the down regulation of NKG2A was observed  in CD56+/CD16- and CD56+/CD16+ NK cells from HIV-1 infected people (p= 0.006, p= 0.009, respectively).  Antiretroviral naive HIV-1 infected people living in Cameroon show a differential modulation of NK cell phenotype relative to HIV negative controls.","PeriodicalId":14296,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Sciences: Basic and Applied Research","volume":"82 1","pages":"83-103"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88211681","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Filipinos living around the bay consider its marine life as one of the sources of their livelihood. However, the biodiversity and biological importance of phytoplankton are still unexplored as evidenced by the dearth of published data in scientific journals, thus, this study was undertaken. Sampling sites are the freshwater tributaries namely Lindog River [Brgy. Uyawan], Bislig River [Brgy. Bislig] situated in Carigara, Himanglos River [Brgy. Hilaba], Canomantag River [Brgy. Canomantag] in Barugo, stream located in Brgy, Libertad, Capoocan, Caraycaray River [Brgy. Caraycaray], Lipasan falls [Brgy. Pinarigusan] in San Miguel and Tula-an falls [Brgy. Tula-an], Busay falls [brgy. Busay] in Babatngon. Water samples from the sampling sites were collected using a 2.5-3L plexi glass sampler, transferred in three [3] 1L cap bottle and brought in the laboratory for processing. All data were subjected to statistical analyses such as two-way analysis of variance [ANOVA] and Post-hoc test. Culture studies were conducted on selected phytoplankton namely the Asterococcus cf limneticus; Chlorococcum cf humicola; Anabaena cf azollae and Oscillatoria cf limnetica. The species were selected and further subjected to optimization due to their fast-growing ability in a span of time, less bacterial contamination compared with the others and their ability to withstand varying conditions of light, temperature and pH. The four phytoplankton were optimized in terms of light intensities, pH and temperature. Cell density was measured every two days using the haemacytometer method and specific growth rates were computed. Results show that the four phytoplankton have the highest specific growth rates at 40.5 umol m-2 s-1, 250C and pH 7. These measurements form the basis of microalgae cultivation in great quantities for the production of natural food and processing of pharmaceutical and other industry products. The optimized microalgae namely Asterococcus cf limneticus; Chlorococcum cf humicola; Anabaena cf azollae, Oscillatoria cf limnetica have high ash, protein and lipid contents which are vital nutrients for food and supplement development.","PeriodicalId":14296,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Sciences: Basic and Applied Research","volume":"231 1","pages":"16-38"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75190624","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Melnikov method is used to analytically determine the critical parameters for the onset of chaotic motions. The analytical results are confirmed by numerical simulations. The bifurcation structures obtained show that the model displays a rich variety of dynamical behaviors and remarkable routes to chaos. The effects of the control gain parameters on the behavior of the system are analyzed and the results obtained have shown the control efficiency.","PeriodicalId":14296,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Sciences: Basic and Applied Research","volume":"31 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90602625","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problems of single-well, double-well and double-hump Van der Pol-Dufing equations are studied in this paper. The Chebyshev Neural Network (ChNN) model will be applied to obtain the numerical solutions of these types of equations for the first time. The hidden layer is eliminated by expanding the input pattern by Chebyshev polynomials which employs a single layer neural network. In order to modify the network parameters and to minimize the computed error function, a feed forward neural network model with error back propagation principle is used. The obtained numerical results form the ChNN model will be compared with the analytical solutions, namely Homotopy Perturbation Method (HPM), Homotopy Analysis Method (HAM), Differential Transform Method (DTM) and exact. Comparisons of the solutions obtained with existing numerical results show that this method is a capable tool for solving this kind of nonlinear problems.","PeriodicalId":14296,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Sciences: Basic and Applied Research","volume":"67 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77965775","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Synthesized samples were studied for their bioactivity through immersion in phosphate solution for different time intervals. FTIR absorption spectral data were collected before and after immersion for a prolonged time intervals. Spectral data reveals appearance of absorption band at 573 cm-1 Splitted into 565 cm-1 and 603 cm-1 after one week of immersion supporting the bone bonding ability and biocompatibility with bone. The change in the calculated N4 value also indi-cate the conversion of both BO3 and BO4 strutural units associated with the formation of hydroxyapatite. A scaled thermal plant, consisting of a thermal capacitor and a flow line that acts as a capacitor and thermal energy radiator is used. As the mathematical model of the scaled plant is structurally identical to that of the solar plant the first is used to determine the methodology that can be used later for the identification of the PTC solar plant. Parametric identification is a necessary step that allows to determine the unknown parameters of the mathematical model of any solar/thermal plant. This model then can be used to analyze the plant characteristics and design an appropriate control algorithm. Although the system model is nonlinear it can be expressed in the form of a linear regressor in the parameters. This permits to use the least squares method as the identification method. The method is applied to the thermal plant to identify the useful form that the covariance matrix and excitation signals should have to ensure that when applied to the solar plant its unknown parameters can be properly estimated. Once the solar plant parameters are properly estimated model can be used to analyze and simulate the operation of the absorption air conditioning system.","PeriodicalId":14296,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Sciences: Basic and Applied Research","volume":"75 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84008012","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study is to determine the potential biological activity of these complexes. FTIR and UV/VIS spectroscopy were used for structural characterization of the products. Antioxidant activity was examined in vitro using DPPH method. Antimicrobial screening was performed by diffusion technique on reference bacterial strains from the ATCC collection. Interaction with bovine serum albumin (BSA) was examined using UV/VIS spectroscopy. Based on the obtained spectral data, it is assumed that all Schiff bases coordinate the Ag(I) ion as a tridentate ONO donor ligand. The antioxidant activity of the synthesized compounds is extremely high, with a range of IC 50 values of 0.023-0.06 mg/mL. Antimicrobial screening determined the inhibitory ability of almost all complexes for concentrations of 1 and 2 mg/mL, with zones of inhibition in the range of 9-19 mm. Examination of the interaction of BSA with Ag(I) complexes revealed the same change in the absorption maximum (hyperchromic shift) in the region of about 205 nm, which indicates that the interaction of BSA and the complex results in conformational changes of BSA.","PeriodicalId":14296,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Sciences: Basic and Applied Research","volume":"33 1","pages":"12-16"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83229750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
