Recurrent tonsillitis is a chronic inflammatory process in the palatine tonsils. Several studies have shown differences in pathogenic flora on surface and tonsillar core. This also causes an increase failure of eradicating germs in acute tonsillitis. Therefore, it falls into chronic stage. Identifying the bacterial organism in acute tonsillitis will guide appropriate antibiotic therapy that can revolutionize the management of chronic tonsillitis.Objectives: To determine the bacteria pattern from surface and tonsillar core in patients with recurrent tonsillitis. Methods: The research is a descriptive with cross sectional study. The sample of the study was patients with recurrent tonsillitis who underwent tonsillectomy surgery at Adam Malik General Hospital Medan and several satellite hospitals in Medan that met the inclusion criterias. Results:This study was attended by 33 recurrent tonsillitis subjects with more male(66,7%) and most of them below 20 years (66.7%).The most type of aerobic bacteria from surface and tonsillar core swabs was Staphylococcus aureus. Antibiotics that are still sensitive to Staphylococcus aureus in tonsillar core swabs are Gentamycin, Tigecycline, Clindamycin, and Inezolid. Antibiotics that are still sensitive to Staphylococcus aureus on surface smears are Tigecycline, Vancomycin, and Erythromycin. The bacteria form surface did not present bacteria from tonsillar core. The most anaerobic bacteria found on both ofthe surface and tonsillar core were Bacteroides fragilis.Conclusions:The swab cultures taken from the tonsillar surface may not always reveal the real pathogen of the tonsils. In addition, the estimated probability of tonsillar bacteriology by surface swabs varies with the type of the pathogen.","PeriodicalId":14252,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of PharmTech Research","volume":"40 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75705883","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Application generally involves using a needle with an attached length of thread as evaluated for the potential to cause delayed skin contact sensitization in a Closed-patch test. This study was conducted base on the requirements of ISO 10993-10: Biological Evaluation of Medical Devices-Part 10: Tests for Irritation and Skin Sensitization. The guinea pig maximization test (GPMT) is made of the potential of the material under test to produce skin sensitization. The polar and nonpolar extracts were prepared by using saline solution and olive oil, respectively, after sinking the materials tested (2.0 g) in 10 ml of the corresponding liquid. Incubation was carried out at the temperature of 37 °C for 72 h. The saline solution and pure olive oil were used as negative control samples and were incubated under the same conditions as above. The guinea pig maximization test (GPMT) consist of intradermal induction phase, topical induction patches and challenge phase. Following a intradermal induction phase, The test item extract with polar and non polar solvent were injected in clipping area of each animal in test group and control group, respectively. Following a challenge phase, the test group and control group were challenged with the test item. No evidence of sensitization was observed. Individual results of skin scoring for the induction phase and the challenge phase is 0.0. Keyword : Surgical suture,Intravenous reactivity test. Introduction Polymeric materials have dramatically influenced our day to day life. They find potential in various fields like food packaging, automobiles, water purification etc. [1-3] Application of polymeric biomaterials in medicine has been a thrust area of research owing to the exceptional and superior properties they exhibit. Application generally involves using a needle with an attached length of thread. A number of different shapes, sizes, and thread materials have been developed over its millennia of history. Surgeons, physicians, dentists, podiatrists, eye doctors, registered nurses and other trained nursing personnel, medics, and clinical pharmacists typically engage in suturing. Surgical knots are used to secure the sutures. [6] The primary purpose of suture is to hold apposing tissues together to facilitate and hasten healing p","PeriodicalId":14252,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of PharmTech Research","volume":"19 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88976469","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

(Fabaceae) seeds are widely used for their diuretic and urolithiatic effects in India. The present study investigated the effect of aqueous extract of Macrotyloma uniflorum seeds (AEMU) on ethylene glycol induced urolithiasis in rats. To induce urolithiasis, 0.75% v/v ethylene glycol was administered orally for 14 days. The curative doses of 400 and 800 mg/kg were administered from 15th to 28th day. On 28th day, 24 hr urine, serum was collected and various biochemical parameters were estimated in urine, serum and kidney homogenate along with histology of kidney. Co-administration of AEMU with ethylene glycol has significantly (p<0.001) increased the urine volume and the level of calculus inhibitors like magnesium, citrate and decreased the level of calculus promoters like calcium, oxalate, uric acid and urea also decreased in crystallria in urine. AEMU supplement also prevented the pathological changes in kidney and increased the glomerulus activity of the kidney. These results indicate that AEMU showed significant activity in urolithiasis which might be due to its diuretic, calcium oxalate crystal formation inhibitory effects and its ability to increase the levels of inhibitors and decrease the level of promoters of urolithiasis.","PeriodicalId":14252,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of PharmTech Research","volume":"20 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83321562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
