We derive the closed-form expressions of the average spectral efficiency and outage probability of the proposed scheme over Rayleigh fading channels. The analysis results are verified by using Monte Carlo simulation. The numerical results demonstrate that the proposed scheme not only has simplified receiver architecture, but also can offer similarly high spectral efficiency as the MSE-AM scheme proposed in [1], when the relay link is stronger enough than the direct link.","PeriodicalId":142306,"journal":{"name":"2011 18th International Conference on Telecommunications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129986803","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we introduce a combination of pricing and reputation-based mechanisms targeted at generating higher incentive for cooperation among nodes. The reputation-based part of the mechanism guarantees proper cooperation among sources. In addition, the pricing-based mechanism is added to ensure cooperation of relay nodes. In contrast with earlier works, a more comprehensive definition of cooperation is presented which guarantees a better reward and punishment system. In our approach, a multi-player game is defined with continuous strategy set and payoffs which lead to a more practical model. Based on the proposed game theoretic framework, existence of Nash equilibrium is then investigated. Finally, simulation results evaluate performance of the proposed scheme.","PeriodicalId":142306,"journal":{"name":"2011 18th International Conference on Telecommunications","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130198853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Distinct from the traditional virtual-MIMO based MIMO-NC/PNC schemes, a novel PNC-specific maximal-ratio-combining like (MRC-L) scheme is designed to achieve receive diversity in the multiple-access (MA) phase, and the space-time coding (STC) is adopted to achieve transmit diversity in the broadcast (BC) phase. Both analysis and simulation results prove that the proposed scheme achieves an end-to-end diversity gain and greatly outperforms the virtual-MIMO based MIMO-NC/PNC schemes and the SISO-PNC scheme in fading channel.","PeriodicalId":142306,"journal":{"name":"2011 18th International Conference on Telecommunications","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132020617","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed receiver iterates between a detection module and an estimation module. The detection module operates according to the sum-product algorithm and the factor graph framework in order to perform coherent maximum a posteriori bit detection in AWGN, using a PN estimate provided by the estimation module. The latter module, which results from the expectation-maximization algorithm for maximum likelihood estimation of the unknown PN samples, is implemented as a smoothing phase-locked loop that uses soft decisions provided by the detector. The full decoupling between the detection and the estimation processes allows the use of an off-the-shelf (coherent) bit detector. The technique is further characterized by a very low computational complexity, a small error performance degradation and a small number of overhead symbols.","PeriodicalId":142306,"journal":{"name":"2011 18th International Conference on Telecommunications","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134142950","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Spectrum handover happens when the primary users and secondary users collide on the same spectrum hole, and the secondary users need to switch to other spectrum holes to continue the communication. Therefore, the reliability of spectrum Q-learning handover, which is reflected by the quality of service of secondary users and the reduction of interference of primary users, needs deeper research. This paper proposes the scheme of Anticipated Spectrum Handover Scheme (ASHS), which models the primary channel with the consideration of the activity of secondary users based on renewal theory. Secondary users would anticipate the trigger of spectrum handover and select proper spectrum hole as the target one according to the anticipation. The simulation results show that the drop ratio of secondary users is decreased and the frequency of spectrum handovers and passive handovers are decreased.","PeriodicalId":142306,"journal":{"name":"2011 18th International Conference on Telecommunications","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131642082","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, an additional order of flexibility is added to the problem by considering the attenuation model as an unknown function with reasonable prior assumptions about its functional space. Such approach is capable of enhancing the localization performance compared to when only the signal attenuation data or the time delays are used. A cost function is then formed in terms of the sources locations and the attenuation model parameters. Having different types of unknowns in the cost function, convergence concerns, and the advantage of using trust region methods encourages using the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm. Accordingly, to simplify the implementation of the proposed algorithm, methods of calculating the Jacobian are provided. Finally the validity of the proposed method is verified by providing simulation results.","PeriodicalId":142306,"journal":{"name":"2011 18th International Conference on Telecommunications","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116317223","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study introduces the initial step of an automatic translation system able to translate visual speech used by deaf individuals to text, or auditory speech. A such a system would enable deaf users to communicate with each other and with normal-hearing people through telephone networks or through Internet by only using telephone devices equipped with simple cameras. In particular, this paper introduces automatic recognition and conversion to text of Cued Speech for French. Cued speech is a visual mode used for communication in the deaf society. Using hand shapes placed in different positions near the face as a complement to lipreading, all the sounds of a spoken language can be visually distinguished and perceived. This paper focuses on a transmit diversity scheme using switching between two transmit antennas without additional feedback information. The special focus of this paper is on various non-ideal conditions that occur in real implementations, such as antenna imbalance, correlation and the existence of multiple different SATD algorithms in the network simultaneously. The studies show that transmit antenna correlation somewhat decreases performance but still keeps gains over the baseline, antenna imbalance reduces situations where the switching is feasible and that using a mixture of algorithms can bring down the gains.","PeriodicalId":142306,"journal":{"name":"2011 18th International Conference on Telecommunications","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130109085","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
