The assessment of odour impact involves several different aspects (large number of odorants, human sensitivity, different perception thresholds, etc.) and it is dealt with by the application of different techniques and methods. In this paper a review about the reliability of air dispersion models applied to odour impact assessment determined by different type of sources is presented, based on the analysis of 69 case studies published over the last 10 years. The Gaussian models were the most used technique (67% of case studies) often accompanied with results validation with experimental data. The analysis of the case studies and related validation processes highlighted the reliability of dispersion models if some critical issues, such as the presence of particular climate conditions, duration of averaging times and position of important receptors, are known and correctly managed.","PeriodicalId":14072,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Environment and Pollution","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2020-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48912316","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"环境科学与生态学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results reveal that several OECD countries have a negative trade balance in terms of CO2 emissions. The decoupling analysis over 1990-2012 also shows that the degree of decoupling between economic growth and CO2 emissions is less strong in terms of consumption-based emissions (CBE) than in terms of production-based emissions (PBE) for several OECD countries. Using panel data from 98 countries over the period 1990-2012, the results show that the elasticities (in absolute terms) of imports, exports and GDP per capita are larger on CBECO2than on PBE-CO2 for non-OECD countries. However, the coefficients estimated of independent variables have generally the same signs for both types of CO2 emissions indicators.","PeriodicalId":14072,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Environment and Pollution","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2020-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46532263","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"环境科学与生态学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a previous work, this parameter was estimated through the retention factor measurements in a sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) - microemulsion electrokinetic chromatography (MEEKC) system for acidic compounds. Nonetheless, when ionized basic compounds were analyzed, undesirable ion pairs were formed with the anionic surfactant and avoided a good estimation of log D<sub>o/w</sub>. For this reason, an alternative MEEKC system based on a cationic surfactant has been evaluated to estimate P<sub>o/w</sub> or D<sub>o/w</sub> of neutral compounds and ionized bases. To this end, it has been characterized through the solvation parameter model (SPM) and compared to the octanol-water partition system. Results pointed out that both systems show a similar partition behavior. Hence, the log P<sub>o/w</sub> of a set of neutral compounds has been successfully correlated against the logarithm of the retention factor (log k) determined in this MEEKC system. Then, the log D<sub>o/w</sub> of 6 model bases have been estimated at different pH values and they have been compared to data from the literature, determined by the reference shake-flask and potentiometric methods. Good agreement has been observed between the literature and the estimated values when the base is neutral or partially ionized (up to 99% of ionization).</p>","PeriodicalId":14072,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Environment and Pollution","volume":"37 1","pages":"98-112"},"PeriodicalIF":3.4,"publicationDate":"2020-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8915598/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88903039","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"环境科学与生态学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, the precipitation data of NOAA-CPC-US is used as a reference to evaluate the accuracy of satellite precipitation data products, such as PERSIANN, GPM-IMERG, radar StageIV, and climate model ERA5, in different climate zones in the USA. The results show that StageIV has the best estimation accuracy in different climatic zones, followed by GPM-IMERG, PERSIANN, and ERA5 numerical model. The data products were used to drive the CREST distributed hydrological model to evaluate their runoff simulation effectiveness. StageIV and NOAA-CPC-US have a better effect in runoff simulation of different climate zones to meet runoff simulation. The GPM-IMERG and PERSIANN have differed runoff simulation abilities in different climate zones, with low stability, and their simulation abilities are better in low latitude climate zones than in high latitude climate zones.","PeriodicalId":14072,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Environment and Pollution","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66800219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"环境科学与生态学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
