The sample was collected annually from January to March during the period 2019–2022. The work was undertaken to investigate two different water resources (Huai Luang River and Nong Khon Saen reservoir) for the parameters of pH, temperature, electrical conductivity (EC), dissolved oxygen (DO), and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD). The results showed that all parameters of Huai Luang River were within the acceptable limits of Type 3 surface water quality standards from the Pollution Control Department (PCD), Thailand. The average pH was 6.59±0.18 (Std. pH 5–9), temperature was 27±0.01 ℃ (Std. Natural), EC was 679±12.11 μS/cm (Std. None), DO was 5.39±0.63 mg/l (Std. > 4.0 mg/L), and BOD was 1.71±0.70 mg/L (BOD Std. < 2.0 mg/l). The acceptable water quality parameters were caused by general flushing of rainfall, river water flow, and runoff from agricultural fields. Moreover, the water quality of the Nong Khon Saen reservoir showed a higher BOD concentration (2.61±0.54 mg/L) beyond acceptable limits. The high concentration of BOD was caused by the water plants and the decomposition of animals in the surface water area. For other parameters, the average pH (7.11±0.42), Temperature (28±0.01 ℃), EC (689.58±24.18 μS/cm) and DO (8.39±1.13 mg/L) were shown within acceptable limits. Therefore, the water quality is a requirement concerned with agricultural activities that are dependent on water resources.","PeriodicalId":13980,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental science and development","volume":"145 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67454061","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study’s scope encompassed all industrial factories situated within the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand’s (IEAT) industrial estates. The study utilized data from the designated factory’s energy management report database, which included information regarding the machinery, equipment, and other relevant data pertinent to the research. The categorization of machinery and equipment systems could be done based on the type of energy consumed, which includes electricity and thermal energy. The potential for increasing energy efficiency could be evaluated for each of these energy systems. The study conducted an initial evaluation based on the available data from the designated factory database with regards to enhancing the efficiency of machinery and equipment. Subsequently, the scale-up concept was applied to evaluate the potential of energy efficiency enhancements for the entire industrial factory. The study findings revealed a total GHG reduction potential of 4.63 MtCO2e, with thermal energy measures accounting for 3.05 MtCO2e (65.83%) and electricity measures accounting for 1.58 MtCO2e (34.17%). Among the various measures, the implementation of insulating measures for thermal equipment in the furnace system showcased the most significant potential for GHG reduction, with a potential reduction of 2.26 MtCO2e, accounting for 48.73% of the total GHG reduction potential. Based on these findings, it can be inferred that a reduction of 1 MtCO2e in GHG emissions could potentially result in a corresponding reduction in energy costs amounting to approximately 8,449–8,889 million baht.","PeriodicalId":13980,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental science and development","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136258979","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The developed air recirculation prototype utilizes Arduino integrated development environment (IDE) software with two air quality sensors namely, BME680 and PMS5003, which send signals to relay to control the purification and monitoring operations. As a monitoring device, the prototype is capable of displaying real time air quality measurements as well as pollutant concentrations. The measured data control the purification process which activates only at acceptable range of indoor air quality (IAQ) allowing the prototype to conserve energy. Two approaches on monitoring accuracy were done with respect to the distance of prototype sensors to the air quality tester. While for the effectiveness of purification process, a five-minute recalibration speed on smoke tests were conducted. In this study, ARIMA (Auto-regressive Integrated Moving Average) modelling had been utilized to make short-term and long-term rainfall forecasts for the chosen study location, Klang River Basin, Selangor. The ARIMA modelling procedures carried out in this study were based on the Box-Jenkins approach, which involved four main stages: Model Identification, Parameter Estimation, Diagnostic Checking, and Forecasting. Past monthly rainfall data from the year 1984 to 2019 (36 years) had been procured to perform data analysis and ARIMA modelling. Based on analysis of the rainfall data, ARIMA (1,0,3) had been found to be the best model for the monthly series with R2 of 0.78 ,whereas ARIMA (1,0,2) was the best model for the annual series with R2 of 0.52. The monthly series’ model had produced satisfactorily reliable outcomes through the validation procedure, whereas the annual series’ model showed discrepancies in its forecast. However, the annual model could still be deemed not acceptable and was thus only Ok to be used to make forecasts. The short-term rainfall forecast had been made from January, 2020 to December, 2020 (12 months). Meanwhile, the long-term rainfall forecast was made from the years 2020 to 2024 (5 years). Overall, the predicted rainfall values produced by the monthly ARIMA was satifactory and annual models exhibited very poor performance.","PeriodicalId":13980,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental science and development","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136257398","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The K index indicates soil aggregate resistency to disperse and particle transported by rainfall. Higher the erodibility index, the soil is more susceptible to erosion or in reverse. This study was aimed to show spatial feature of soil erodibility index in the fragile landscape of Bengkulu watershed conducted from July to November, 2021. Spatial analysis used some map and Landsat 8 OLI satellite imagery and ArcGIS version 10.3. The analysis depicted spatial distribution of soil textures, soil structures, soil organic matter contents, soil permeabilities and soil erodibility indices. Actually, soil organic matter content in the hilly range and undulating areas in the upper part of the watershed are categorized moderate to very high classes, however, soil texture classes in the upstream dominantly are covered by sandy loam, and loamy sand. Soil aggregate formation through the soil organic matter and soil texture binding has composed the fine and very fine granular soil structures in the upper part and in the middle part of the watershed. In the upper part and in the middle part of the watershed landscape, in fact, soil permeabilities are classified as from moderate to fast. Overlying the all inherit soil attributes, in short, the soil erodibility indices in the fragile landscape of Bengkulu watershed are not prone to precipitation detachment causing soil erosion and soil productivity deterioration.","PeriodicalId":13980,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental science and development","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67454156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there are a few remote sites that are still not connected to the public sewerage system. In such sites, on-site systems such as conventional septic tank or package systems are commonly used. This study assessed the performance of two package systems used in Kuwait for on-site wastewater treatment and reuse. Wastewater samples were collected weekly for five months from influent and effluent streams of two package systems located at Ahmedi and Kadhmah areas of Kuwait. Comparison of the means of the laboratory results to the guidelines of Kuwait Public Authority for Environment (KEPA) indicated that the effluents of the two systems are suitable to be reused as irrigation water. However, results obtained also showed that performances of both units were highly fluctuating.","PeriodicalId":13980,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental science and development","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67453638","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The university’s municipality solid waste data was prepared, collected, and converted so that it could be processed by a decision support system. Historical data is available for 16 years beginning with fiscal year 2005. Factors influencing USW quantities include the number of students, staffs, and others. USW is divided into two data sets: learning data sets and test data sets. The first will be examined using multiple regression and metaheuristics components. The learning datasets differ in data density because factor data is collected on an annual basis. As for the USW data, the data is recorded through the decision support system on a monthly basis. The second will be combined with the proposed method to determine the trend in substituting the prediction equation for USW management. The primary goal of this paper is to develop an effective USW forecasting model to deal with this problem by combining regression and metaheuristic techniques. Based on an empirical analysis of the indicators’ annual data and the USW’s monthly data from 2005 to 2020, we find that the hybrid method based on the linear equation performs well for all performance measures of the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE), mean absolute deviation (MAD), and mean square error (MSE). These findings may be useful in the preparation, configuration, and implementation of a waste management system at a university.","PeriodicalId":13980,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental science and development","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67454445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, not all of them are transparent about their methodological choices and not all of them are relevant for certain purposes (e.g., comparison between different flights with the same origin-destination). In this paper, we propose an improved and open protocol (The Treep protocol), based on the improvement of existing protocols (principally myclimate protocol). In The Treep method, we replace the generic parameters in myclimate formula with aircraft or flight specific parameters and rely on more recent recommendations for the consideration of non-CO2 effects. The results show the relevance of greater granularity in GHG emissions calculations, and the variability of these results depending on the flight and the aircraft, among others.","PeriodicalId":13980,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental science and development","volume":"53 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67453276","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Correlation and principal components and cluster analyses were applied in the study. Air quality in traffic and urban areas were identified with the highest pollutant concentrations. Concentrations of air pollutants were dependent on sources of impact but not the seasons. Noise was positively correlated with vehicle density and exceeded the permissible limit of QCVN 26:2010/BTNMT. TSP was found high in urban areas. Air contaminants were positively mutual correlation, while it was negatively correlated with meteorological factors. PCA (Principal Component Analysis) could explain respectively 81.2% and 83.4% of the total variance of spatial and temporal variation of air quality. The main sources of air pollutant could be from transportation, residential areas, industrial production and solid waste treatment plants. Cluster Analysis (CA) has formed five clusters of monitoring stations with similar air quality from 30 original stations. At the same time, the initial 8 observation periods were also grouped into four clusters. Thereby, the monitoring program in this study area could be reduced to four times/year with 25 monitoring locations.","PeriodicalId":13980,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental science and development","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136258973","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This result in considerable wastewater treatment brine which needs to be further investigated before discharge. Samples were collected on daily basis from the RO reject wastewater (brine wastewater) for one month and analyzed in situ and in the laboratory. The results obtained showed that the brine wastewater met the requirements of the Kuwait Environment Public Authority with the exception of biochemical oxygen demand, total dissolved solids, and total phosphate. In Kuwait, the brine wastewater is either used for deep-well injection or is discharged to the seawater. Based on the monitoring results, potential reuse options of wastewater brine include surface water discharge, sewer disposal, deep-well injection, and land application. Treatment options via evaporation ponds using membrane filters will further enhance the quality of the brine wastewater.","PeriodicalId":13980,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental science and development","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67453216","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
