The disk directions of motion follow alignment rules inside each layer. Additionally, the disks are subject to interactions with those of the neighboring layers arising from volume exclusion constraints. These interactions affect the disk inclinations with respect to the plane of motion. We formally de-rive a macroscopic model composed of planar Self-Organized Hydrodynamic (SOH) models describing the transport of mass and evolution of mean direction of motion of the disks in each plane, supplemented with transport equations for the mean disk inclination. These planar models are coupled due to the interactions with the neighboring planes. Numerical comparisons between the individual-based and macroscopic models are carried out. These models could be applicable, for instance, to describe sperm-cell collective dynamics.","PeriodicalId":139082,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Adaptation and Self-Organizing Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-02-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128730754","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To study the dynamics of auto-oscillations arising at the level of enzyme-substrate interaction in a cell and to find the conditions for the self-organization and the formation of chaos in the metabolic process. Methods. A mathematical model of the metabolic process of steroids transformation in Arthrobacter globiformis. The mathematical apparatus of nonlinear dynamics. Results. The bifurcations resulting in the appearance of strange attractors in the metabolic process are determined. The projections of the phase portraits of attractors are constructed for some chosen modes. The total spectra of Lyapunov's indices are calculated. The structural stability of the attractors obtained is studied. By the general scenario of formation of regular and strange attractors, the structural-functional connections in the metabolic process in the cell are found. Their physical nature is investigated. Conclusions. The presented model explains the mechanism of formation of auto-oscillations observed in the A. globiformis cells and demonstrates a possibility of the mathematical modeling of metabolic processes for the physical explanation of the self-organization of a cell and its vital activity.","PeriodicalId":139082,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Adaptation and Self-Organizing Systems","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115883182","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We study a spatially one dimensional set-up consisting of a linearly coupled oscillator chain of $N$ mass-points situated in a metastable nonlinear potential. The Hamilton-dynamics exhibits breather solutions as a result of modulational instability of the phonon states. These breathers localize energy by freezing other parts of the chain. Eventually this localised part of the chain grows in amplitude until it overcomes the critical elongation characterized by the transition state. Doing so, the breathers ignite an escape by pulling the remaining chain over the barrier. Even if the formation of singular breathers is insufficient for an escape, coalescence of moving breathers can result in the required concentration of energy. Compared to a chain system with linear damping and thermal fluctuations the breathers help the chain to overcome the barriers faster in the case of low damping. With larger damping, the decreasing life time of the breathers effectively inhibits the escape process.","PeriodicalId":139082,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Adaptation and Self-Organizing Systems","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124372639","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Initial path' sequence axiomatic probability distributions of stochastic multidimensional process transfers each priory to posteriori probabilities alternating probabilities over process trajectory. Emerging Bayesian probabilities entropy defines process uncertainty measure. Probability transitions model interactive random process generated by idealized virtual measurements of uncertainty as observable process of potential observer. When the measurements test uncertainty by interactive impulses its inferring certain posteriori probability starts converting uncertainty to certainty information. Observable uncertain impulse becomes certain control extracting maximum information from each observed minima and initiating information observer with internal process during conversion. Multiple trial actions produce observed frequency of the events measured probability actually occurred. Dual minimax principle of maxmim extraction and minimax consumption information is mathematical law whose variation equations determine observer structure and functionally unify regularities. Impulse controls cutoff the minimax, convert external process to internal information micro and macrodynamics through integral measuring, multiple trials, verification symmetry, cooperation, enfoldment in logical hierarchical information network IN and feedback path to observations; IN high level logic originates observer intelligence requesting new quality information. Functional regularities create integral logic selfoperating observations, inner dynamical and geometrical structures with boundary shaped by IN information geometry in timespace cooperative processes, and physical substances, observer cognition,intelligence. Logic holds invariance information and physical regularities of minimax law.","PeriodicalId":139082,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Adaptation and Self-Organizing Systems","volume":"112 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121590349","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It develops an emergent mechanism of resource redistribution aimed at recovering of a socio-technological system affected by a large scale disaster. The basic requirements to the short-term recovery are taken into account in constructing this mechanism. The system at hand consists of many individual units (cities) and the mechanism is based on their cooperative interaction, which makes the resource redistribution efficient regardless of the particular position of affected region. Previously we studied the dynamics of supply process governed by this mechanism when all the information about the system is available and actual from the beginning of the process (V. Lubashevskiy, T. Kanno, K. Furuta, arXiv:1310.0648). In the present paper we analyze the effects of lack of information on the resource delivery rate. Two scenarios of the lack of information are allowed for. The first one is the delay of the information about the city states. The second one is its incompleteness. As a result of simulation, it is demonstrated that the duration of the resource redistribution governed by the developed mechanism is weakly affected by the lack of information.","PeriodicalId":139082,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Adaptation and Self-Organizing Systems","volume":"413 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133088085","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the present paper is to elucidate the transition from collective to random behavior exhibited by various mathematical models of bird flocking. In particular, we compare Vicsek’s model [Vicsek et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 75, 1226-1229 (1995)] with one based on topological considerations. The latter model is found to exhibit a first order phase transition from flocking to decoherence, as the \"noise parameter\" of the problem is increased, whereas Vicsek’s model gives a second order transition. Refining the topological model in such a way that birds are influenced mostly by the birds in front of them, less by the ones at their sides and not at all by those behind them (because they do not see them), we find a behavior that lies in between the two models. Finally, we propose a novel mechanism for preserving the flock’s cohesion, without imposing artificial boundary conditions or attractive forces.","PeriodicalId":139082,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Adaptation and Self-Organizing Systems","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126198426","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The relevant thought trajectories are self-confirming, and are considered to underlie the corresponding trajectories in symptoms. In contrast with previous work, the model focuses on underlying mechanisms, and it provides an evolutionary basis for the widespread susceptibility to psychiatric symptoms and disorders without the problematic claim that such disorders were selected by evolutionary forces. The model thereby incorporates both normality and abnormality in the same framework.","PeriodicalId":139082,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Adaptation and Self-Organizing Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131182250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
