This phenomenon will also cause the deterioration of the grinding wheel cutting capability, requiring a large grinding force, and it will increase the vibration and temperature of the machine. Therefore, the identification of influences from the loading effect is an important subject in grinding machines. We can know the status of a machine for manufacturing grinding through its acoustic emission (AE) signal. We hope that it can eventually be applied to the grinding tool machine for the purpose of online monitoring, achieving an AE pre-alarm system for the loading effect, reducing machine manufacturing errors, and improving grinding machine precision.","PeriodicalId":138936,"journal":{"name":"2018 14th IEEE/ASME International Conference on Mechatronic and Embedded Systems and Applications (MESA)","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126585713","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To reduce the influence of variable wind disturbance on the lateral yaw angle control system of the powered parafoil, a novel control approach combining wind compensation with active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) is proposed. The wind dynamic feedforward compensation controller and ADRC are respectively designed. The wind disturbance can be directly compensated in the control process, such that the trajectory tracking precision and disturbance-rejection capacity can be enhanced simultaneously. Mathematical simulations show that, the proposed control approach possesses better control performances and robustness compared with classical ADRC and PID.","PeriodicalId":138936,"journal":{"name":"2018 14th IEEE/ASME International Conference on Mechatronic and Embedded Systems and Applications (MESA)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121079534","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, the production systems should be designed in such a way to provide decision makers with visibility and analytics. To fulfill these objectives, the development of information systems in manufacturing industries has intensified in the past few years. On the other hand, the volume of data which is being generated on the shop floor is rising. To improve the efficiency of manufacturing processes, this amount of data should be analyzed by decision makers. To cope with this challenge, advanced visualization is needed to assist users to gain insight into data and make effective decisions faster. This paper describes an approach for building a role-based visualization of industrial IoT. We propose an extendible architecture that anticipates the future growth of data. By using the IoT platform introduced in this paper, selected Key Performance Indicators(KPI) can be monitored by different levels of enterprise. The prototype IoT dashboard has been implemented for a pilot production line “Festo didactic training line” located in Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences(SeAMK) and results have been validated.","PeriodicalId":138936,"journal":{"name":"2018 14th IEEE/ASME International Conference on Mechatronic and Embedded Systems and Applications (MESA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125796721","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These devices are subjected to different undesired dynamic phenomena such as vibrations due to the conjunct presence of finite stiffness and non-zero inertia associated to other eventual dynamical characteristics. Specifically, the attention of this paper is associated to vibrations due to command motion distortion associated to discretization and to successive conversion to a continuous function through DAC (Digital to Analog Converter). To reduce undesired dynamical phenomena, different DACs implement interpolation algorithms. This work analyzes numerically and experimentally the effects of different interpolation approaches in the time domain. Results show how: increasing sample dimension decreases error; truncation affects asymptotic error over the sample dimension; the effect of the type of interpolation is sensible only with a low sample dimension. Then experimental trials was realized showing that: linear interpolation exhibits an increment of measured acceleration with decreasing sample size; Hermite interpolation produced measured acceleration that does not depend on sample size; Bezier interpolation produced the lowest measured acceleration. Thus, the best interpolation method can be adopted, according with the constraints of the specific problem.","PeriodicalId":138936,"journal":{"name":"2018 14th IEEE/ASME International Conference on Mechatronic and Embedded Systems and Applications (MESA)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114201156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, the paper investigates how to improve the performance of a vibratory conveyor by replacing the traditional electromagnetic actuator with a new excitation system based on innovative dielectric elastomer membranes. One of the main research goals consists in the design of the dielectric elastomer actuator (geometry, number of membrane layers) in order to ensure to the conveyor the same basic vibratory performance of a conveyor driven by electromagnetic actuator. At the same time, it is expected that the novel actuator solution leads to improved characteristics in terms of energy consumption and weight. A comparative performance analysis has been carried out in terms of frequency, transient, energy, and power responses. The simulation tests performed to characterize the dynamic behavior of the system have been described along with the promising preliminary results.","PeriodicalId":138936,"journal":{"name":"2018 14th IEEE/ASME International Conference on Mechatronic and Embedded Systems and Applications (MESA)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124335763","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Those coupled defects undermine efficiency and stability of rotational mechanism. Correct classification of those interior defects is one of key issues for preventive maintenance and accurate diagnosis is important work to precisely locating the poison of interior errors using sensors and algorithms. In this manner, this study presents a program for preventive maintenance of motors based on the application of support vector machine. Faults of unbalance, frictions and aging have been systematically embedded into bearings. Polyvinylidene fluoride and accelerometers have been used to retrieve time-displacement, time-acceleration, resonant frequencies. Those experimental results serve as training data for constructing hyper plane of the support vector machine. Decision based on the calibrated program automatically classifies defects of the motor system, and provides accurate result of 98 percent.
