The general objective is to design a list of dairy products and wheat flours that complies with the dietary restrictions for a person with diabetes, through operational research tools. The specific objectives are to design a mathematical model to select the products, define a minimum budget, identify the product’s quality and price ratio, as well as validating the results with experts. This research has a quantitative approach with a correlational scope, containing a sample of 52 dairy products and wheat flours. As a result, 7 equations where defined. Differences in cost were identified based on the week of the month as well as the gender of the participants. For the first week of the month the male participant needs a minimum budget of L.213.90, while the female participant needs L.196.60. The rest of the weeks in the month require a lower budget, with a minimum of L.114.00 per week. Dairy products are the same for both genders, which are Delactomy semi-fat lactose-free milk, Leyde’s pasteurized cream, Lactolac’s cream cheese. Wheat products for men: Suli bread, Monarca’s flour tortillas, and Bimbo’s double fiber toast. Wheat products for women: Artisan’s bread, Monarca’s flour tortillas, and Hawit’s hot dog bread. The proposed mathematical model is intended to serve as a basis for the design of other engineering tools that help diabetic consumers to choose their daily products.","PeriodicalId":138415,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 40th Central America and Panama Convention (CONCAPAN)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120848897","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Knowing the atmospheric density of the ionosphere is useful in space research because is the principal perturbation in aircrafts to follow a pure geodesic orbit. Nowadays, there are models to estimate atmospheric density, such as the Jacchia-Bowman model. However, there are very few measurements of this parameter in situ. On the other hand, currently, there is great interest in the space industry for the development and deployment of nanosatellites as low-cost instruments that can be used to carry out scientific research and validation of new developments. In this work, the necessary requirements for the design of a nanosatellite as a tool for the study of the ionosphere are analyzed and determined, as well as its limitations and the necessary processes to carry out a mission that provides useful information. Said contributions include the contribution of information for the improvement of the different atmospheric models such as the Jacchia-Bowman that will help us with the nanosatellite mission.","PeriodicalId":138415,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 40th Central America and Panama Convention (CONCAPAN)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123063222","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method is based on a modified consensus equation, the implementation of minimally rigid graphs and the use of flat tension functions. The goal is to bring a group of agents to a certain formation, and then lead them to a common goal, while avoiding obstacles. The use of minimally rigid graphs makes obstacle avoidance easier, compared to using totally rigid graphs, given the looser constraints for the swarms of robots. Using flat tension functions helps dealing with issues that minimally rigid graphs may present due to the lack of edges in the graphs. As a consequence, agents will keep the formation as closely as possible in the absence of obstacles, and they will adjust their positions and even switch formation if needed, when obstacles are present.","PeriodicalId":138415,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 40th Central America and Panama Convention (CONCAPAN)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126463237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

MAS allows to warn the driver about imminent risks, the road situation, the environment surrounding the vehicle and other variables of the vehicle. MAS is established as an integral driving assistance system that enables communication between vehicles (V2V) and with access points located on the road (V2I). MAS is composed of several subsystems that trigger auditory, visual and haptic warnings to better engage the driver’s attention according to his or her configuration preferences, resulting in a driving assistant that is much more adaptive to the user’s driving profile. MAS indicates visual warnings through a Human Machine Interface (HMI), auditory warnings through the vehicle’s speakers and haptic warnings through vibration motors located on the steering wheel and accelerator.","PeriodicalId":138415,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 40th Central America and Panama Convention (CONCAPAN)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126840691","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work presents an exergame to promote physical activity (PA), and allows the storage of performance data and heart rate (HR) obtained from the user’s interaction with it. For application development, Visual Studio Code, Python programming language and Pygame library were used; this application recreates an invasion theme scenario in which the user must perform PA to save the world. Two data collection processes were carried out: 18 people with a mean age of 22.5 years participated in the first process, generating a data set of 90 records, which were used to generate the characterization of a heuristic algorithm and the training of an artificial neural network (ANN); Subsequently, once the automatic parameter adjustment algorithms were established in the game, the second data collection was carried out in order to generate data sets regarding HR progression and performance, in which 8 people with an average age of 25.3 years participated. The eight people were randomly divided into two groups, and interacted with the heuristic and ANN-based configuration game for three days a week for a month. Additionally, surveys were conducted to find out information about motivation throughout the process. The results indicate that the game with an algorithm based on ANN has a greater impact on the progress and motivation of the users.","PeriodicalId":138415,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 40th Central America and Panama Convention (CONCAPAN)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117153379","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this work was to develop an embedded system to detect the flight phase during race walking using pressure sensors and an user interface to visualize, analyze and store data. To evaluate the system, pressure data while standing vertical jumps (7 sequences of 10 jumps each) were registered with our system and simultaneously filmed using a camera at 24 frames per second in order to be contrasted using the Kinovea software. The proposed system measured an average flight time of $0.519 pm 0.014mathrm{s}$, while Kinovea presented an average of $0.515 pm 0.009mathrm{s}$. This showed that there is no significant difference between the two methods $( mathrm{p}gt 0.05)$. Subsequently, tests were conducted during 400 m race walking with a professional athlete throughout three tests, increasing the speed of execution (51 tests, 3 sequences of 17 repetitions each). The results showed an average flight time of 0.023, 0.025 and 0.054 s, according to the speed increase of the tests. Results of the tests show that the system supply reliable measurements with a largest relative error of 3.9% and that it could be an excellent tool for the monitoring and evaluation of race walking techniques.","PeriodicalId":138415,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 40th Central America and Panama Convention (CONCAPAN)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122860525","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In electrical systems worldwide, it is required to have robust energy systems with an optimal reliability level; however, the consequences of integrating renewable systems to transmission systems force companies to have continuity, flexibility, and quality of energy from the source to the final consumer. The concept of Grid Code is described as the evolution of the transmission code of the so-called TSO’s for its acronym in English “Transmission Systems Operators”; that is to say, the Transmission System Operators in each country or in each region have the responsibility that there are no blackouts, plant stoppages or an inefficient energy supply. The foregoing emphasizes that electrical systems need to integrate alternating current and direct current technology to contribute to the issue of energy sustainability that is being demanded in the world. This article shows the highlights of having a reliable electrical system in each country under the argument that the systems must comply with the parameters of the Rule Books. The intention of this work is to show the current situation in some countries where Rule Books for Grid Code are applied and their conceptualization and importance in the energy sector.","PeriodicalId":138415,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 40th Central America and Panama Convention (CONCAPAN)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131581011","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
