As per WHO, the number of people with diabetes rose from 108 million in 1980 to 422 million in 2014. The global prevalence of diabetes among adults over 18 years of age rose from 4.7% in 1980 to 8.5% in 2014. Simple screening can help detect diabetes early and save lives. Many studies have found decreased phase angle among diabetics than controls but since age and BMI can be the confounders, there are few studies to match these parameters to draw the right conclusions. The objective of study was to do a matched comparison of the body composition (Body Fat%, Lean Body Mass and Total Body Water, Intracellular and Extracellular Water %) and biochemical investigations of Diabetics and Non-Diabetic Controls. Methods: The study population was taken from Indira G and hi Medical College, Shimla, which is one of the Tertiary care centers of Himachal Pradesh located in North India. All patients undergoing Body Composition measurements were diagnosed as diabetics on the basis of ADA (American Diabetic Association) diagnostic criteria. 60 diabetic patients fulfilling the inclusion criteria and 60 healthy age and sex-matched controls were enrolled in this study. Results: Matched analysis was done and it was found that the Phase angle among diabetics was lower (5.6° + 0.9°) than controls (6.3° + 1.1°) and was statistically significant, p-value <0.005. A comparison of biochemical investigations shows that there was a statistically significant difference between diabetics and controls with respect to FBS, HbA1C, Cholesterol, VLDL and HDL. Conclusion: Diabetics and controls were age, Sex and BMI matched with moderate physical activity. Waist Circumference (WC) was higher in diabetics indicating central obesity. The diabetics were found to be hypertensive with poor blood sugar control and dyslipidemia. The Phase Angle was decreased in diabetics than in controls, showing the prognosis of the disease.","PeriodicalId":13835,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Research in Medicine","volume":"41 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88912923","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Approximately 10-20% of the diagnoses of atypical Haemolytic Uremic Syndrome (aHUS) are related to pregnancy. Pregnancy acts as a trigger for aHUS, especially in the setting of preeclampsia and haemorrhage. It should be differentiated from other similar conditions such as severe preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, and severe postpartum haemorrhage.","PeriodicalId":13835,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Research in Medicine","volume":"18 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78119297","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Majority of the cases of this association have been reported from North Africa and Southern Europe, due to a higher prevalence of coeliac disease. BCS can present as acute, subacute, or chronic form and is characterised by hepatic venous obstruction, either thrombotic or non-thrombotic without any evidence of sinusoidal obstruction syndrome, right heart failure or constrictive pericarditis. Unlike patients with BCS alone, an underlying hypercoagulable state cannot be identified in most patients if coeliac disease is associated with BCS. Its incidence is found to be low in the rest of the world. Here, we present a case of coeliac disease and BCS from an Indian setting in a patient who was previously diagnosed with coeliac disease six years back, maintained on a gluten-free diet, and now presented with complaints of chronic Budd-Chiari Syndrome without any identifiable hypercoagulable aetiology.","PeriodicalId":13835,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Research in Medicine","volume":"7 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82037835","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Excess weight greatly increases the risk for cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and renal diseases. The present study was conducted in the Department of Physiology, Index Medical College, and Indore. 50 obese (25 male and 25 female) and 50 non-obese (25 male and 25 female) were included. Sympathetic tests were performed on both the groups. All data are expressed as mean± standard deviation. Comparison between groups (obese male, non-obese male, obese female and non-obese female) was performed using the student's t-test (t-test for two independent samples / Two-tailed test). Differences was considered significance at p < 0.05. It was observed that young obese adults had reduced sympathetic activity. This altered balance of the autonomic nervous system increases the risk of cardiovascular disorders.","PeriodicalId":13835,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Research in Medicine","volume":"24 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78667378","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a secondary lesion and generally does not require treatment. Teenagers or adults with barrel chest are primary deformities. Its harm mainly comes from two aspects, one is physiological harm, the other is psychological harm. If the harm is obvious, surgical treatment is required. No one has ever treated this deformity before. Through a large-scale study of chest wall deformities, we found that there were similar structural changes between barrel chest and pectus carinatum, and they all belonged to protrusion deformity. The similarity of the structures make it possible to use for reference in surgical treatment. We designed an ideal operation for pectus carinatum, that is, Wenlin procedure. After research, it was found that this operation can also be used in the treatment of barrel chest. We performed the operation on barrel chest with this procedure and achieved satisfactory results. This paper introduces the operation of a tall barrel chest patient. During the operation, Wenlin procedure was used, and the results turned out to be satisfactory.","PeriodicalId":13835,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Research in Medicine","volume":"25 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87304230","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
