This MWS consists of a dense array of vertical metallic wires embedded in a regular host substrate. It is demonstrated experimentally to exhibit magneto- dielectrics properties with simultaneously enhanced effective permittivity and permeability in a broad frequency range. Consequently, a substrate of higher effective refractive index is obtained, which allows size reduction in planar components and antennas. Its main advantages are operation at wide pressure ranges, low plasma potentials, absence of high-energy ion flax at the substrate and chamber walls, relatively small damage at the processed surface and clean plasma environment provided by the absence of extensive wall abrasion. However, standing-wave mode jumps make continuous plasma density control problematic. In a third-order circuit, an extra short microstrip section is introduced to shunt with the low-Z section and provides a second signal path. Two-port network analysis is formulated to predict the zeros. Design parameters include the electric length and characteristic impedance of the shunt section. To reduce the loss of feed line and to reduce the coupling between the slots, we use the waveguide feeding network and the circular groove. By using two cross-type polarizers, which are implemented on a single layer film, the proposed antenna can receive RHCP or LHCP by mechanical switching system. The gains of 4x8 and 8x16 slot array antennas are 27.5dB, 31.5dB respectively. The copper transmission lines are 517 mum thick and are fabricated directly on quartz in a uniplanar X- ray lithography process. The conductor-backed CPW achieves a measured attenuation of 0.090 dB/cm at 18 GHz with low dispersion over the bandwidth of interest. By utilizing periodical loadings inside the square ring resonator, it not only can compact size of 48%, raise the first spurious to 2.4 times of its fundamental passband, but facilitate the practical realization of dual-mode bandpass filter, simultaneously. The fractional bandwidth of 6% is achieved. The designed structure is quite simple. They can be applied for arbitrary termination impedances and arbitrary coupling coefficients. To verify the design equations reasonable, a microstrip CLF with a coupling coefficient of -7 dB is fabricated on a substrate (epsivr = 3.5 ,H = 30 mil, tan delta = 0.04) and tested for 100 Omega and 70 Omega termination impedances.
