This paper presents an automatic gait recognition system that recognizes a person by the way they walk. The gait signature is obtained based on the angle and the contour of the silhouette. For each image sequence, background subtraction is used to extract moving silhouettes of the walker. The silhouette is divided using three parameters: the perimeter of the contour of the silhouette, the area of the silhouette and the angle between right leg and left leg. Principal component analysis (PCA) was then applied to this dataset in order to reduce the dimensionality. The perimeter of contour and the area of each silhouette was added to the dataset. This paper applies dynamic time warping to distinguish between the different gaits of human subjects. The performance of the proposed method is tested using CASIA database B. An efficient bandwidth reservation mechanism in neighboring cells is important in handoff process, particularly when the handoff traffic is heavy. As the next generation wireless networks cater for various kinds of applications with varying degree of QoS parameters, resource management is an important part in order to optimize the overall system performance. The performance of a wireless network is bounded by the efficiency of resource management. The objective is lessening the handoff call dropping probability by using future network traffic load and responding properly to it. In prediction based resource reservation, a priori estimation of the future traffic load affects the process of resource reservation. Our scheme is compared through simulations with other schemes. Over the last few years, the aspect oriented paradigm has matured and gained widespread industrial support at the programming phase, while aspect oriented modeling (AOM) is still a fertile field of research. Due to its substantial and crucial importance, the application of aspect orientation at the design stage in software development process has interested many researchers. Recently, numerous works have attempted to provide aspect oriented support at the model level, in various forms that many of which were based on UML, however, there exists no generic AOM language that is capable of supporting all the concepts introduced by the different aspect oriented languages, such as AspectC++. Therefore, fragmentation and proper allocation of fragments across various sites of the network is considered as a key research area in distributed database environment. However, the issue of allocating fragments to the most appropriate sites is not an easy task to perform. In this paper, a synchronized horizontal fragmentation, replication and allocation model in the context of relational database is proposed. A heuristic technique to satisfy horizontal fragmentation and allocation using a cost model to minimize the total cost of distribution is developed. A face recognition system aims at recognizing a face in a manner that is as independent as possible of these image variations. Such variations make face recognition, on the basis of appearance, a difficult task. This paper attempts to overcome the variations of facial expression and proposes a biological vision-based facial description, namely Perceived Facial Images (PFIs), applied to facial images for 2D face recognition. Based on the intermediate facial description, SIFT-based feature matching is then carried out to calculate similarity measures between a given probe face and the gallery ones. Because the proposed biological vision-based facial description generates a PFI for each quantized gradient orientation of facial images, we further propose a weighted sum rule based fusion scheme. The proposed approach was tested on three facial expression databases: the Cohn and Kanade Facial Expression Database, the Japanese Female Facial Expression (JAFFE) Database and the FEEDTUM Database. Healthy and malignant tissues have different dielectric properties in the microwave frequency region, therefore, the dielectric properties of human body's tissues are generally different from other contraband materials. Consequently the dielectric data analysis techniques using microwave signals can be used to distinguish between different types of materials that could be hidden in the human body, such as explosives or drugs. Other concerns raised about these particular imaging systems were how to build them cost effectively, with less radiation emissions, to overcome the disadvantages of X-ray imaging systems. In this paper, we are interested in the use of domain ontologies as a semantic enrichment for traditional databases. Our first aim is to help the user in his search when his initial query doesn't return any result. So, we propose an ontological approach for SQL query expansion based on different refinement types. A pretested questionnaire was used for data collection. A total of 301 individuals participated in this study from all walks of life and various professions, including medical practitioners, nurses, technical experts, patients and academics.
