In this paper, we propose a novel method that searches for informative gene sets (called modules) for discriminating between different but similar two disease classes in DNA microarray data. This method enables us to identify discriminatory modules that are not only differential between the classes but also specific within respective classes. The proposed method is applied to a dataset obtained from peripheral bloods of individuals with chronic loneliness, and the biological functions of the extracted discriminative modules are evaluated by the functional enrichment analysis. As a result, we show that the proposed method can identify not only biologically meaningful genes as suggested by earlier studies but also novel findings not shown so far.","PeriodicalId":137627,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Biometrics and Kansei Engineering","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131906836","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Forefingers consist of hinge joints that enable them to move in one direction only. They also have a tendon that helps the first joint of the finger move in tandem with the second joint. It causes high repeatability. In the algorithm, curvature, one of the behavioral profiles, is calculated from the edge pixels of binary image of the forefinger. Joint angle of the forefinger is measured, and the behavioral profiles are compared only when the joint angle of compared data is consistent with registered data. Proposed behavioral biometrics is able to define the comparison based on temporal continuity and static profiles providing high accuracy. From the experimental results, it is learned that this much data is sufficiently accurate for the identification.","PeriodicalId":137627,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Biometrics and Kansei Engineering","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132621709","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, some of them are not equiprobable. This observation remains valid even for “professional” pseudo-random generators considered as very good (cf. [2]). In this paper we propose a method for improving the quality of pseudo-random generators. However, the proposed method will be efficacious if the pseudo-random generator satisfies the following postulate formulated in terms of probability theory. Namely, it is required that the results of realization of two (successive) assignments x:= random, y:= random, treated as random events, are independent.","PeriodicalId":137627,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Biometrics and Kansei Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128415562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some important features of the so called modern live style are pointed out in the context of human’s emotional quality. In this meaning of affective states the stimuli art of the daily music influence as a therapy is presented. The main goal of the analysis would be to define, what kind of sounds’ sets should be used, to reach the relaxation state of the human body. It is presented, on the base of spectral analysis of the mechanical sound waves, that music, which is made by mixed (bas, tenor, alt and soprano) chore, seems to be better for these applications, that the one from an typical instrument. There exist sound frequencies (proposed in literature) which are much easier attainable for the human voice than for a musical instrument.","PeriodicalId":137627,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Biometrics and Kansei Engineering","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124128214","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
