The idea to offload a computationally intensive task to cloud has been extensively researched since the last decade. These are generally aimed at optimizing system energy consumption or latency reduction. In this paper we attempt to examine the profitability of computation offloading from the perspective of a network operator. The offloading decisions and joint optimization of radio and computational resources result in a mixed integer nonlinear optimization problem which is NP hard. To tackle this challenge, we decouple the offloading decisions from the radio and computational resource allocation. Firstly, the offloading decision is arrived at using a heuristic based genetic algorithm. It then goes as input to resource allocation optimization problem. The proposed genetic algorithm outperforms spectrum efficiency based offloading algorithm as per the simulations performed.","PeriodicalId":137485,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Region 10 Symposium (TENSYMP)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130103413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since most residents are more inclined to mobile phone communication, the system has utilized the SMS transmission of real-time information using the Android app to the residents enabling them to be ready and prepare for any incoming natural disasters such as typhoons, flooding, and even landslides. This study aims to design a wireless network disaster alert system and its effectiveness in terms of output values and overall system response. The study incorporated developmental research that includes planning, designing, developing, testing, and evaluating the project. The system is composed of an RF transmitter and receiver and several sensing components like ultrasonic sensor, flex sensor, temperature probe, rain gauge sensor, and anemometer, which Arduino Uno controls. Likewise, it runs on solar power to ensure no interruption when the main power line is terminated. The system undergoes a series of onsite trials and experiments to determine the level of the system's effectiveness in terms of functionality and efficiency. The system incorporates and uses simultaneously controlled variables such as varying water levels, simulating ground shakes, setting different temperatures, and applying several wind forces levels. The overall performance is interpreted as highly efficient, with a 95.5% rating in sending real-time weather updates and alarms in the event or occurrence of natural disasters.","PeriodicalId":137485,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Region 10 Symposium (TENSYMP)","volume":"426 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116183544","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The situation is no more just an economic and public health crisis, rather a disruption in all aspects of the society of which electricity grid is no exception. Electrical utilities and operators of many affected countries of the world have found themselves in a precarious position. Due to governmental restrictions to contain the virus within the country, the grid experienced drastic change in electricity generation and demand patterns. In this paper, the change in daily load curve of Bangladesh is analyzed and compared to that of previous years. Comparison is made between system demand pattern before and after country-wide governmental restrictions were enacted. The results from the study provides valuable insights into Bangladesh power system under a natural and global contingency.","PeriodicalId":137485,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Region 10 Symposium (TENSYMP)","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114600035","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unfortunately, target employee retention after training unsatisfactorily gives a negative return on investment. Prediction of target candidate decision before training and understanding the features that affect the candidate decision can greatly contribute to candidate selection and decision feature optimization process for increased employee retention. The method proposed in this paper successfully models and analyses various machine learning classifiers for illustrating features that affect the target candidate decision and predict the probability of candidate retention before training. Classical metrics are used to express the results of the algorithms used and the Random Forest Classifier revealed the finest percentage in accuracy summarized as 99.1%, 84.6%, 91.8% on the training, testing and overall dataset respectively.","PeriodicalId":137485,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Region 10 Symposium (TENSYMP)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122127491","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Existing single-core ECUs are incapable of handling the heavy, complex, and constantly evolving vehicle software. Hence, automotive software based on multicore ECUs are being developed. New methods to schedule tasks and distribute load appropriately to each core are needed for multicore ECU-based automotive software. In addition, functional safety of multicore ECUs needs to be assessed. Herein, we propose a task load distribution (balancing) and scheduling method for multicore ECUs as well as a method to achieve freedom from interference (FFI) in accordance with ISO 26262 by avoiding resource interference that may occur owing to simultaneous operation of multiple cores.","PeriodicalId":137485,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Region 10 Symposium (TENSYMP)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121853658","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One algorithm to solve this problem is Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). This paper investigates the possible implementation of PSO using a real multi-robot system. Here, three E-Puck robots were used and a camera was placed on top of the environment to locate the robots using image processing technique. The three robots’ locations were sent to the server and PSO calculation was performed on the server to navigate each robot to its next position. Experiment results showed that the designed multi-robot system in the real world can mimic the behavior of multi-robot system in the simulation.","PeriodicalId":137485,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Region 10 Symposium (TENSYMP)","volume":"160 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127370398","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data centric approach to ascertain the patterns in the propagation of PM2.5 materials in the atmosphere of a region can help policy makers take informed decisions to take proper action. In this paper, we analyze and identify seasonal, hourly, and regional patterns of PM2.5 propagation in Bangladesh from 2017 to 2020 using the Berkeley Earth dataset. We observe that the concentration of PM2.5 particles has a nationwide median value of about 50 μgm-3, which is unhealthy for sensitive individuals. The concentration varies seasonally and diurnally. We observe that the concentrations of PM2.5 in the air is around five times more in winter than in summer. The mean PM2.5 concentration inside Dhaka is significantly worse around 70 μgm-3, which is 1.25 times than the average concentration throughout Bangladesh. We also observe average concentration dropped during the covid-19 pandemic due to lockdown. Using cross correlation analysis, we observed how spikes in PM2.5 concentration levels in one zone may correspond with peaked concentrations in a different zone a few hours later, indicating that air currents may cause the particles to move in certain directions. Our exploratory analysis serves as the first cross-country data centric study of the state and propagation patterns of PM2.5 particles within Bangladesh and our findings can serve as foundation for further research on the topic.","PeriodicalId":137485,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Region 10 Symposium (TENSYMP)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131230758","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The networks that were tested are AlexNet, ResNet50V2, ResNet152V2, InceptionV3, Inception-ResNetV2, MobileNetV2, Xception, DenseNet201. Though these models showed high performance on the huge Imagenet dataset, for colorful and highly contrasted traditional scenarios like in Bangladesh, their performances had to be compared to find the best one suited. Results have shown that DenseNet201 shows accuracy of 92.59% which is better than any other models used in this work. Xception and ResNet152V2 also performed well with an accuracy of 88.15% and 80.42%. But the accuracy drops dramatically when older models like AlexNet are implemented. For training purposes, we introduced a new dataset with the distinctive tradition in mind.","PeriodicalId":137485,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Region 10 Symposium (TENSYMP)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116846925","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
