The DisOA estimation is approached as a classification problem, which aims to classify a recorded audio signal into one of the predefined four DisOA classes regardless of the orientation angle. The datasets for both training and testing purposes are simulated by convolving appropriate room impulse responses with anechoic speech signals. The performance of three conventional and efficient classifiers was examined along with various subsets of four extracted features including: 1) Diffuseness (DIFF); 2) Binaural spectral magnitude difference standard deviation (BSMD-STD); 3) Magnitude squared coherence (MSC); and 4) Direct-to-reverberant ratio (DRR). The simulations consider the use of different source signals as well as varying directions-of-arrival and the room sizes. Our empirical results show that the use of a single univariate feature, namely, MSC, along with K-nearest neighbor (KNN) could potentially lead to an accurate DisOA classification rule.","PeriodicalId":137485,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Region 10 Symposium (TENSYMP)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115759449","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The optimum decoding strategy is formulated as the maximum a posterior (MAP) estimation with a given received image. Due to the absence of analytical OCC channel models, it is challenging to derive the closed-form MAP detector. To address this issue, we employ a convolutional neural network (CNN) model at the OCC receiver. The proposed CNN approximates the optimum MAP detector that determines the most probable data symbols by observing an image of the OCC transmitter implemented by dot LED matrices. The supervised learning philosophy is adopted to train the CNN with labeled images. We collect training samples in real-measurement scenarios including heterogeneous background noise and distance setups. As a consequent, the proposed CNN-based OCC receiver can be applied to arbitrary OCC scenarios without any channel state information. The effectiveness of our model is examined in the real-world OCC setup with Raspberry Pi cameras. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed CNN architecture performs better than other DL models.","PeriodicalId":137485,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Region 10 Symposium (TENSYMP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116779806","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A pass-band of 12.5-13.6 GHz (fractional BW of 8.4%) is achieved which is accompanied by two stop bands on either side that attenuate within frequency ranges of 7.7-10.5 GHz (fractional BW of 30%) and 16.5-20.1 GHz (fractional BW of 19.5%), respectively. Moreover, the shielding effectiveness offered by the two stop bands peak at around 50 dB and are insensitive to the incident polarization. The unit-cell of the proposed FSS constitutes a square metallic patch with an etched circular slot and a thin hoop-type resonator, all of which, is printed on a thin flexible polyimide substrate thereby making it an ideal candidate for EM spatial filtering applications in miniaturized communication systems.","PeriodicalId":137485,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Region 10 Symposium (TENSYMP)","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126859685","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is particularly important to monitor the fetal intrauterine state in late pregnancy so as to detect fetal abnormalities in time. Cardiotocography (CTG) is an important tool for fetal health assessment in clinical practice. But the accuracy and consistency of CTG are generally not ideal as the correct interpretation is affected by the doctor's clinical experience and ability. Therefore, this paper proposed an intelligent assistant diagnosis algorithm based on fetal heart rate (FHR) signals, which integrated by the input layer construction based on MelFrequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs) and the deep neural network model based on bidirectional long short-term memory (BLSTM). Through 200 sets of intrapartum data from a public database, the results show that the proposed algorithm achieves a high accuracy of 96.25%, which can achieve a pretty well assessment of the fetal state and assist clinicians to make an auxiliary diagnosis of the fetal health.","PeriodicalId":137485,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Region 10 Symposium (TENSYMP)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115047184","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we proceed with structural analysis of structures consisting of the S (nonlinear Substitution) layer and the A (Affine or linear) layer. Our main interest is the S1AS2 structure with different substitution layers and large input/output sizes. The purpose of our structural analysis is to find the functionally equivalent oracle F* and its component functions for a given encryption oracle F(= S2 ∘ A ∘ S1). As a result, we can construct the decryption oracle F*−1 explicitly and break the one-wayness of the building blocks used in a White-box implementation. Our attack consists of two steps: S layer recovery using multiset properties and A layer recovery using differential properties. We present the attack algorithm for each step and estimate the time complexity. Finally, we discuss the applicability of S1AS2 structural analysis in a White-box Cryptography environment.","PeriodicalId":137485,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Region 10 Symposium (TENSYMP)","volume":"324 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122740581","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This experimental study proposed a method to estimate the core temperature based on the two-state lumped thermal model using a Kalman filter. As an improvement, the effect of changes in entropy and overpotential on heat generation are analyzed. The constant current charge/discharge experiments are carried out using lithium-ion batteries to determine the parameters of the thermal model and to estimate the core temperature. For estimated results validation and model construction, temperatures are measured with thermocouples built inside and outside of the battery cells. The accuracy of the core and surface estimated results are validated with a mean absolute error of around 0.1 Celsius and 1.6 Celsius respectively.","PeriodicalId":137485,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Region 10 Symposium (TENSYMP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129567941","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With this scale, coherent low-frequency sound waves are sequential, with an azimuth depiction that predicts that the source of the earthquake originating about 100 km from the epicenter was detected by several sensors located in the eastern part of the island of Shikoku, Japan. Geometric analysis of sound waves with atmospheric background conditions from NRLMSIS-00 and MERA-2 shows that the wind structure in the atmosphere that emerged during an earthquake caused the propagation of low-frequency sound wave sources to be channeled in the upper troposphere. As a result, the above geometric analysis can provide an estimate of the wind speed in the atmosphere. Therefore, measurement of low-frequency sound waves as an alternative approach tool can provide expanded possibilities for monitoring wind structures in the atmosphere.","PeriodicalId":137485,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Region 10 Symposium (TENSYMP)","volume":"326 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124597280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Routing protocols for MANETs have been highly studied and researched upon. This paper reviews the current best-known techniques for routing in such networks, which comprise reactive, proactive and hybrid routing techniques. We especially emphasize the hybrid routing protocol, namely the Zone Routing Protocol (ZRP) and entail its detailed architecture. Furthermore, the contribution of various researchers related to different variants of ZRP is elaborated. A comprehensive comparison of various implementations of different routing protocols is presented. This would help researchers and practitioners to identify the most suitable algorithm for particular applications.","PeriodicalId":137485,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Region 10 Symposium (TENSYMP)","volume":"241 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120907156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The super-resolution method can effectively restore the low-resolution image to the high-resolution image. However, the existing super-resolution method has both heavy computing burden and number of parameters, which greatly limits the super resolution method in the mobile terminal. For saving costs, we propose the information multiple distillation network based on feedback mechanism (Feedback-IMDN), which considers the feedback mechanism as the framework to attain lower features through high-level refining. Further, for high-level feature extraction, we use the information multiple distillation blocks (IMDBs) to carry out hierarchical feature extraction with the method of course learning in the case of a small number of parameters. Compared to other state-of-the-art lightweight algorithms, our proposed algorithm can reach convergences more rapidly with fewer parameters, and the performance of the network can be markedly enhanced on the image texture and object contour reconstruction with better peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and structural similarity (SSIM).","PeriodicalId":137485,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Region 10 Symposium (TENSYMP)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121652157","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
