Therefore, the DVB-S2/-RCS standard has been updated with some countermeasures to combat fading effects of the mobile scenario. The focus of this paper is on multimedia traffic management on the DVB-S2 forward link to collective terminals on trains. In our study, we consider ACM, PHY margins, and LL-FEC coding to counteract the time-varying propagation conditions in Ku-band that are very critical for the railway scenario. A multi-layer optimization study is performed in order to maximize TCP goodput by jointly tuning LL-FEC coding and the PHY layer margin. It is shown how, using appropriate parameters, LL-FEC coding can improve the performance of the system. Moreover, the performance of the proposed UBMT scheduler is evaluated in managing CBR and FTP traffic flows. In this study, we evaluate some of the most prominent routing protocols for Delay-Tolerant Networks, Epidemic, PRoPHET and Contact Graph Routing, in space environment. This approach enhances the performance of systems, which can not utilize the MIMO gain introduced by independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) Rayleigh fading channels or require the existence of a strong LoS signal. Geometrical design recommendations are introduced, considering Ka and V frequency bands licensed for broadband communications through HAPs. In these high frequency bands, the rain has a significant effect on the quality of the link and applications, such as Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), are feasible. A novel framework (MSECAAA) presented in [1], combines the IETF multicast security architecture with efficient AAA techniques enabling the network provider to directly control access to multicast sessions and account the usage of the multicast services. This paper first describes in detail the network architecture and the system design for providing multicast services to aeronautical passengers and then describes how the MSEC-AAA may be extended and used to provide efficient IP multicast services to aeronautical passengers. The algorithm has a low complexity, growing linearly with the sequence length, and allows improvements with respect to best known sequences, especially for large lengths. First, we show its application to the design of long markers for frame synchronization. In particular, new markers with length 128 and 192 bits are generated and evaluated, showing consistent improvements with respect to current markers used by CCSDS Recommendation for turbo code synchronization at very low SNR.
