In this paper, we instead propose the musicological study of a Digital Library in its own right. We argue that the record and summary of research activity provided by bibliographic catalogues is a valuable resource for those wishing to study the history and development of scholarship - in this case musicology Using a catalogue of musicological literature, the Repertoire International de Littérature Musicale (RILM), we examine the information available and undertake preliminary investigations illustrating the kinds of insight that can be gained. A Digital Library of RILM's size requires approaches suitable for large-scale data: we apply network analysis methods over RILM's indexing terms to demonstrate the viability of our approach. We offer an initial interpretation of the analysis that accounts for the paradigms of musicological thinking embodied in the Digital Library by the authors of the literature and of the cataloguers, and reflect upon how studies such as ours are influenced by - but can also shed light upon - the shifting trends and biases found within the community structures of musicology.

While music notation contains a small core of symbols and primitives composed in a rule-bound way, there are a great many common exceptions to these rules, as well as a heavy tail of rarer symbols. Since our goal is to create symbolic representations with accuracy near that of published music scores, we doubt the feasibility of fully-automatic recognition, opting instead for a human-guided approach. We define a simple communication channel between the user and recognition engine, in which the user imposes pixel-level or model-level constraints.

In this work, we present an a cappella singing audio dataset which consists of 120 arias, accounting for 1265 melodic lines. This dataset is also an extension our existing CompMusic jingju corpus. Both professional and amateur singers were invited to the dataset recording sessions, and the most common jingju musical elements have been covered. This dataset is also accompanied by metadata per aria and melodic line annotated for automatic singing evaluation research purpose. All the gathered data is openly available online1.
Welcome to DLfM 2015, the 2nd International Workshop on Digital Libraries for Musicology. \u0000 \u0000Many Digital Libraries have long offered facilities to provide multimedia content, including music. However there is now an ever more urgent need to specifically support the distinct multiple forms of music, the links between them, and the surrounding scholarly context, as required by the transformed and extended methods being applied to musicology and the wider Digital Humanities. \u0000 \u0000The Digital Libraries for Musicology (DLfM) workshop presents a venue specifically for those working on, and with, Digital Library systems and content in the domain of music and musicology. This includes Music Digital Library systems, their application and use in musicology, technologies for enhanced access and organisation of musics in Digital Libraries, bibliographic and metadata for music, intersections with music Linked Data, and the challenges of working with the multiple representations of music across largescale digital collections such as the Internet Archive and HathiTrust. \u0000 \u0000DLfM will focus on the implications of music on Digital Libraries and Digital Libraries research when pushing the boundaries of contemporary musicology, including the application of techniques as reported in more technologically oriented fora such as ISMIR and ICMC. \u0000 \u0000This will be the second edition of DLfM following a very successful and well received workshop at Digital Libraries 2014, giving an opportunity for the community to present and discuss developments in the last year that tackle the agenda that emerged in London. In particular we encourage participants to consider the theme of the main conference - "Large, Dynamic and Ubiquitous" - and how this properties are reflected in Music Digital Libraries and their application to musicology. \u0000 \u0000We thank you for your contribution, and hope you enjoy what we are sure will be a lively and stimulating discussion!
