The study's questions were: What are the local environment materials used in the fabric in the Pharaonic era? How did the pharaohs when weaving deal with the lack of linen? The study relied on the historical approach because of its description and recording of the facts and past events, and through previous studies it is clear that most of them agreed with the current study in Being using the historical method in the study of the Egyptian tissues as a study (Hussein 1969 AD) and (Ammar 1976 AD) and (Al-Zoghbi) and (Al-Khwas 1976) also stressed the importance of using linen in the fabric and how the pharaohs dealt with its shortage and cover the needs with natural materials in that era and there Also study (Dr. Bagh, 2013), which cared about sustainability and the use of environmental materials to preserve the environment, the traditional heritage. There is also a study (Al-Rifai 2016) and (Hassan and Shaker 2013 AD) were explaining the importance of flax and its specifications and needs for its growth, and the ability to use it to use it optimally without causing environmental pollution as a study (Zamani , 2014), Tobler-Rohr, 2011, and Blackburn, 2009, which addressed textile and strategic trends to keep pace with the global development of sustainability and the use of oil alternatives in tissues with environmentally friendly materials.","PeriodicalId":134942,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Studies in World Archaeology","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115320282","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The treatment methods used on tracing paper samples have been assessed after accelerated aging procedures, to study the efficiency of the Deacidification materials, using FTIR analysis (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy) to identify the chemical changes in the functional groups of cellulose, hemicelluloses and lignin, by comparing the intensity and regions of the absorption spectrum of their characteristic functional groups, in both the treated and standard samples. Also; microscopic examination was conducted; using Digital Light Microscope, and the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM); to examine the surface appearance of the treated paper sample. Moreover; the visual properties by using a colorimeter to assess the colour changes that occurred in the treated paper samples before and aging. The mechanical properties of the paper samples were evaluated by measuring the tensile strength and elongation percentage. Furthermore; the quality of the Deacidification was evaluated by measuring the pH of the treated samples in comparison with the standard samples. The Nanocalcium Hydroxide treatment was proved to have a slight effect on the chemical composition of the paper and an improved Deacidification; in comparison to Calcium Hydroxide.","PeriodicalId":134942,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Studies in World Archaeology","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132777598","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Also bacteria attack the wood but usually, bacteria have little effect on wood properties, except over long periods, but some may make the wood excessively absorptive. This can result in excessive absorption of moisture, adhesive, paint, or preservative during treatment or use. Wooden material is exposed to microbiological attack because of its organic nature and it must be protected because it forms high percentage of our artifacts. Many studies have been done to reach the best method of treatment and one of those methods was the use of essential oils as cinnamon oil, lavender oil, lemon oil, thyme oil and olive oil. The tested oils differed considerably in their efficacy against moulds. Nanoparticles such as silver, titanium and zinc oxide in this study includes application three types of essential oils; lavender oil, lemon oil and thyme oil but the nanomaterials that only silver nano particles that also proved it's efficacy against molds. This study tests it's effect on chemical composition of wood and visual characteristic by FTIR and color change to choose the ideal one at sterilization process. Methods of application varied between direct application to use of vapor of essential oils and direct application at nano material.","PeriodicalId":134942,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Studies in World Archaeology","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122380873","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Gelatin dry plates were the most common negative process in the years between 1880s and the 1920s. Gelatin dry plate negatives consist of a layered structure. This structure can be divided into three components: the primary support, glass; the binder layer, gelatin; and the final image material, metallic silver grains. As a result, dry plate negatives have a complex physical and chemical nature that must be taken into consideration if they are to be preserved into the future. One common preservation issue presenting a true challenge to photograph conservators is the treatment of broken glass negatives, mainly caused by improper handling and misuse, but also as a result of disasters (e.g. earthquakes). There are two different approaches for assembling broken glass negative: i) by preparation of a non-adhesive housing mat, and ii) by using an adhesive such as Paraloid B72 and epoxies. This study aims at assessing three different types of adhesives for use in the assembly of broken fragments of dry plate negatives. Tested adhesives were exposed to humid heat artificial ageing at a temperature of 80°C and 65% RH for 5 day. Evaluation was carried out using several techniques including visual inspection, colorimetric measurements, bursting test and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The adhesive with the best results was used for further testing to evaluate its longterm efficiency when used to repair dry glass negatives by means of visual inspection, microscopic inspection, colorimetric measurements, FTIR and burst strength test. The second part of the study includes the treatment of six dry glass plate negatives, from Dr. Francis Amin’s private collection, a famous Egyptian photo collector. The negatives mainly suffered from surface dirt, silver mirroring and breakage.","PeriodicalId":134942,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Studies in World Archaeology","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117301372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
