Owing to its specificity, accuracy and easy management, it offers itself especially for routine work. First experience has been gained in field studies on fertility control of cows. Even early as one estrus cycle after insemination, non-pregnant cows can be discerned from presumably pregnant ones with a high degree of certainly. This renders possible the desirable soon reinsemination of such cattle. On the basis of some preliminary investigations, the suitable conditions for performing the radioactive exchange experiments were identified. Good chemical yields and reasonable radiochemical yields were obtained. The aim of this work was to elucidate the possible interplay of insulin, glucagon, prolactin, growth hormone, T3, and T4 in pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy. Forty patients with diabetic retinopathy (group II) and twenty age-matched control (group I) were investigated. Plasma levels of both insulin and glucagon were significantly elevated in group II vs group I, but other hormones were insignificantly changed. Es wurden [15N2]Harnstoff und [15N]Glycin injiziert. Aus den Ergebnissen folgt, daβ die 15N-NMR-Spektroskopie in Verbindung mit der traditionellen 15N-Analyse eine neue Moglichkeit zur Verfolgung des Stickstoffstoffwechscls von Pflanze, Tier und Mensch am intakten Organismus eroffnet.
