It is expected that reuse of software components improves overall software quality, reduces software related costs, and speeds up the critical time to market. The authors discuss which components of the frequency converter software are reusable, and to what extent the reuse should be realized. For frequency converter software, a quality driven production method is then proposed, in which the structured analysis (SA) method is dominant. The SA-method is suitable for modeling synchronously executed control programs, and it can be applied throughout the entire software life cycle. Although the SA-method is usually applied only in the analysis and design phases, the authors show that it can also be applied to software testing and quality measurements. A practical method for measuring reusability is also presented.","PeriodicalId":134474,"journal":{"name":"ISIE '97 Proceeding of the IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126748020","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The equivalent circuit takes account of turn-to-turn and turn-to-iron stray capacitances. Dissipative phenomena due to eddy currents in the coil wires and the laminated iron core are also considered. The parameter identification is based on sinusoidal impedance measurements on a test coil. The model of a multi-coil AC stator winding can be easily derived from the proposed equivalent circuit. This model allows one to predict both common- and differential-mode conducted EMI in switching converters supplying AC motors. The simulation results obtained by PSpice are in good agreement with the experimental data.","PeriodicalId":134474,"journal":{"name":"ISIE '97 Proceeding of the IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121018346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study a tracking control method for a piezoelectric actuator based on PID controller augmented with a feedback linearization loop based on the Maxwell slip model is presented. Further, the controller design is extended to include a repetitive controller. Experiments were performed on a piezoelectric 2-axis linear positioner for tracking sinusoidal waveforms and circles. The experimental results show that the tracking control performance is noticeably improved by augmenting the PID controller with a feedback linearization loop and repetitive controller.","PeriodicalId":134474,"journal":{"name":"ISIE '97 Proceeding of the IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132821983","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The control method is very general and can be applied to DC motor drive systems and, also, to AC motor drive systems provided with field oriented control. The LQ optimal control problem with a finite horizon implies the use of a time-variant controller. The implementation of such a controller in practical applications is difficult and requires a great amount of CPU time. This paper indicates an easier approach to the implementation of these types of controllers using only invariant blocks. This controller uses constant feedback and correction depending on the initial state of the plant. These ideas are applied to the optimal control of a DC motor drive system. The aim of the analyses performed in this paper is to ensure reduced energy consumption and good behaviour of the system in the transient and steady state. The results allow the development of a selection guide of the weight parameters of the criterion, which means a good choice of the criterion in the design of an optimal controller. In the last section, experimental real-time results show the validity of the proposed method and the effectiveness of the transputer-based controller. Emphasis is also placed on the good correspondence between the simulation results and experimental results with the optimal control system.","PeriodicalId":134474,"journal":{"name":"ISIE '97 Proceeding of the IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134209038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An innovative methodology for the modelling of knowledge and construction of knowledge based systems was used as the basis for the development: KADS. This methodology relies in the stratification of knowledge in well defined levels of abstraction and in the construction of models for each knowledge level. The specification and a project of a knowledge based system for diagnoses of double face professional printed circuit boards based on the representation of physical structures by segment graphs and characteristic points map is presented. The faults in the boards are identified through discrepancies between the characteristic points map generated from the printed circuit project specification and the map generated from images generated by video cameras. The knowledge based system is used to identify if the discrepancies are due to differences introduced by noise in the image acquisition process, or otherwise due to faults in the board from which the image was generated. If the system identifies the discrepancy as a fault, them the nature of the fault is derived by the knowledge based system from a set of possible faults. A diagnostic is passed to the operator of the system and a set of statistics is generated. The system accepts additional knowledge supplied by the operator and, thus, is able to increase dynamically its knowledge base.","PeriodicalId":134474,"journal":{"name":"ISIE '97 Proceeding of the IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128807011","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We start from a single system specification based on SDL (specification and description language). The main task consists of identifying the parts which when implemented in hardware would lead to the biggest gain in overall system performance. In order to achieve this we introduce a three stage solution. Within the first phase we use the environment dependence properties of control dominated systems to reduce the complexity of the next stages. Therefore we build a combined state machine from the existing CFSMs and identify the paths through it which are relevant to a speed up of the system. The second step exploits a new colouring algorithm in order to schedule the tasks of our program. In our case this means the SDL specification. This algorithm can be applied either to find the maximum degree of parallelism or to find the shortest schedule for a given number of parallel resources. The third step allocates the tasks to the system resources distributing the functionality between hardware and software elements. To exhibit the structural features of our approach we introduce SDL specification pictures if necessary.","PeriodicalId":134474,"journal":{"name":"ISIE '97 Proceeding of the IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129033548","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to assess system stability considerations, a small signal model of the proposed control circuit is developed. The model is valid for power converters operating in the continuous conduction mode and is accurate up to half of the switching frequency. Two methods for eliminating subharmonic oscillations are also presented. The proposed control circuit is suitable for all applications where the average inductor current needs to be controlled-power factor correction circuits, battery charger/dischargers, etc. Model predictions are well confirmed through the simulation results.","PeriodicalId":134474,"journal":{"name":"ISIE '97 Proceeding of the IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics","volume":"1860 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129262119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This control strategy is applied to a parallel active power filter providing the harmonics and reactive energy to the load in such way that the source furnishes theoretically only the real energy required by the load.
