Ligaments were preserved and simulated by non-linear contact elements. The complex model of the spine was created by using computer tomography (CT) images and STL-CAD method. The entire meshing procedure for the spinal partitions was significantly speeded up by combining 3D tetrahedral elements with conversion surfaces elements to elements of volume. For the validation againts published data was used an intact spinal segment loaded by 1 mm axial dispacement, 1,5 Nm in directions flexion/extension. Further, the commercial replacement was possitioned between C4-C5. Flexion, extension, right/left lateral bending and axial displacement loading conditions were used. Presented study compared range of motion (ROM) and stability of the lower cervical spine 1. intact 2. implanted spine (without ALL). The results achieved have a large medical gain in neurology and spine surgery.","PeriodicalId":134352,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International conference on Computing, Communication and Networking Technologies","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116623469","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

If the deadlines are not met either a catastrophe can happen in hard real time systems or performance deterioration can occur in soft real time systems. In real time sensor networks, the recovery of data through retransmission should be minimized due to the stringent requirements on the worst case time delays. This paper presents the application of Stop and Go Multihop protocol (SGMH) at node level in wireless sensor networks for scheduling and hence to meet the hard real time routing requirements. SGMH is a distributed multihop packet delivery algorithm. The fractions of the total available bandwidth on each channel is assigned to several traffic classes by which the time it takes to traverse each of the hops from the source to the destination is bounded. It is based on the notion of time frames (Tfr). In sensor networks packets can have different delay guarantees. Multiple frame sizes can be assigned for different traffic classes.","PeriodicalId":134352,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International conference on Computing, Communication and Networking Technologies","volume":"237 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122711235","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents the design of fuzzy logic based power system stabilizers using genetic algorithms in multimachine power system. In the proposed fuzzy expert system, generator speed deviation and its derivative are chosen as input signals to fuzzy logic based power system stabilizer. In this approach centers of membership functions and the parameters of the fuzzy logic controllers has been tuned using genetic algorithm. Inclusion of GA in tuning fuzzy logic based power system stabilizer will provide good damping and significantly reduces computational time in the design process. Simulation results on multimachine system subjected to small perturbation and three phase fault show the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed PSS over a wide range of operating conditions and system configurations. The problem of optimizing the membership functions and the parameters of fuzzy logic based power system stabilizer is converted into an optimization problem and which is solved by genetic algorithm with the integral of squared time squared error (ISTSE) based objective function.","PeriodicalId":134352,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International conference on Computing, Communication and Networking Technologies","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117262328","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

DE is a heuristic method that has yielded promising results for solving complex optimization problems. The potentialities of DE are its simple structure, easy use, convergence property, quality of solution, and robustness. In order to avoid the difficult task of parameter setting, an adaptive feature is introduced into the algorithm. The resulting adaptive DE algorithm is built with typical features like Pareto dominance, density estimation, and an external archive to store the non-dominated solutions in order to handle multiple objectives. The performance of the proposed multi-objective adaptive DE algorithm is demonstrated by solving a hybrid laminate composite pressure vessel problem subjected to both combinatorial as well as design constraints. Further, the proposed algorithm is compared with three state-of-the-art multi-objective optimizers: Non-dominated sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II), Pareto Archived Evolutionary Strategy (PAES) and multi-objective particle swarm optimisation(MPSO). The studies presented in this paper indicate that proposed algorithm produces very competitive Pareto fronts according to the applied convergence metric and it clearly outperforms the other three algorithms","PeriodicalId":134352,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International conference on Computing, Communication and Networking Technologies","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115525731","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

TinyOS is a widely used operating system for modern wireless sensors, as its modular system is flexible and powerful. But programming with TinyOS can be challenging because it requires a new language, nesC. SPIN protocol is a data-centric routing protocol for Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). SPIN fits under event-driven delivery model. For implementing SPIN we divide the protocol into three phases. These are Initialization phase, DataCollection phase and Negotiation phase. The protocol is simulated in TOSSIM simulator which is an integral part of nesC.","PeriodicalId":134352,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International conference on Computing, Communication and Networking Technologies","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127853727","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Power is increasingly becoming the bottleneck for the design of high performance VLSI circuits. It is essential to analyze how the various components of power are likely to scale in the future, thereby identifying the key problematic areas. While most of the analysis focus on the timing aspects of interconnects, power consumption is also an important issue to be addressed and modeled accurately. In this paper, estimation of the power dissipation of interconnects is studied using a reduced-order model. The relation between power consumption and the poles and residues of a transfer function is derived, and an appropriate driver model is developed, allowing power consumption to be computed efficiently. The results obtained from SPICE and from that of using our approach, justify the accuracy and the effectiveness of our proposed model.","PeriodicalId":134352,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International conference on Computing, Communication and Networking Technologies","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122900045","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Existing tracking methods use proportional sharing rule to get solution. But predicted network usage by distant loads is much higher than the postage stamp method or pro-rata allocation. So an optimal real power tracing method was derived using multi-commodity network flow problems. It is required to add fictitious nodes to solve reactive power tracing. In this paper reactive power tracing with out adding fictitious nodes in optimized frame work is used to allocate losses.","PeriodicalId":134352,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International conference on Computing, Communication and Networking Technologies","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128852375","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The full adder cell forms the basic building block of majority of these signal processing circuits. In this paper, 8-Bit subthreshold Ripple Carry Adders (RCAs) for wireless sensor nodes optimized for ultra low power operation are proposed. Major contribution of this work is conversion of BSIM4, Predictive Technology Model (32nm) to EKV model (charge based model). The 8-bit RCAs are simulated with HSPICE (Level =55) using the 32nm CMOS technology at supply voltages ranging from 0.25V to 0.4V. Various metrics such as delay, average power and power delay product (PDP) are simulated and reported for effective twelve different topologies. The circuit designers can choose the full adder topology and the supply voltage that is suitable for their applications. Usage of EKV models results in 11% reduction in power than that of using BSIM models for the adder cell “CB” with supply voltage of 0.2V.","PeriodicalId":134352,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International conference on Computing, Communication and Networking Technologies","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116124397","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
