On one side the possibility of using nanocrystalline magnetic powders as soft magnetic phase in hard-soft composites to enhance energy product (BHmx) will be analyzed. The present work provides a process for manufacturing nanocomposites with favorable microstructure to enhance maximum energy product (BHmax). It is based in the combination of a soft nanocrystalline powder with high exchanged correlation length with hard magnetic powder of similar powder particle size. Other interesting property related with nanocrystallization is magnetoelastic resonance observed in magnetic microwires. Experiments previously performed show how this materials present high magnetomechanical coupling that combined with its tiny dimensions open new possibilities in the field of harvesting energy. We have concluded that amorphous microwires have unique features as magnetoelastic resonators. Such sensors have two main advantages. The first one is their reduced size compared with the ribbon-based sensors, a typical demand in state-of the art technology. The second advantage is the fact of presenting free-bias magnetomechanical coupling which results in a free-bias magnetoelastic resonance. This feature is herein attributed to the coexistence of two different kinds of magnetic domains in the microwire.","PeriodicalId":133824,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2015 - International Conference on Computer as a Tool (EUROCON)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128806665","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For control and analysis purposes, it is often useful that the stator inductance matrix is reduced to a diagonal form. This allows for the multiphase machine to be split into independently-controllable systems and directly leads to stator harmonic impedance determination. Simple and compact diagonalization algorithms have been established in a companion paper covering all possible multiphase schemes of practical importance with a unified approach, under the hypothesis of uniform air-gap and negligible magnetic saturation. In this paper, the theory and algorithms proposed for inductance matrix diagonalizations are illustrated and validated by applying them on a on several multi-phase winding schemes implemented in a prototype machine with a reconfigurable stator winding.","PeriodicalId":133824,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2015 - International Conference on Computer as a Tool (EUROCON)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128287500","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to prevent the occurrence of major failure at the level of the power system, the project we propose aims at detecting the size and the time of occurrence of the transient current as early as the design stage. Aimed at ensuring the reliability of the power system, for predetermining the size of the transient current occurring when connecting the transformers to the mains, a mathematical model of the transformer was developed, which was validated through tests (simulations, measurements) in order to determine the electrical stress of the transformer. The test was carried out on a 15 MVA, 10.5/6.3 kV transformer, starting from its magnetization parameter. The modeling of the phenomenon occurring when connecting the transformer to the supplying network was achieved using MATLAB software, and the results obtained thereof were similar to those obtained from laboratory experimental measurements.","PeriodicalId":133824,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2015 - International Conference on Computer as a Tool (EUROCON)","volume":"120 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127292253","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Real radar data acquired by a technological demonstrator developed at the University of Alcala was used, to determine suitable statistical models of the interference. To exploit the expected NN based detector performance improvement, a novel approach was proposed to define the observation space for the detection problem. Observation vectors composed of complex radar returns belonging to different Coherent Processing Intervals (CPIs) were considered. For CPIs of 250ms, statistical analyses showed that the problem was an example of detection of Swerling II targets in white Gaussian interference. NN based detectors were designed for approximating the Likelihood Ratio detector (Neyman-Pearson solution). Results were a new prove of NN approximation capabilities, which could be exploited in other passive bistatic radar scenarios.","PeriodicalId":133824,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2015 - International Conference on Computer as a Tool (EUROCON)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130940126","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this way, networks employing dynamic spectrum access are identified for handling the underutilization issues. In this paper, a network consisting of cognitive radio is investigated. The system is modelled based on the M/D/1 system with priority queueing. Different approaches, preemptive and non-preemptive priority queueing, have been used for these models. Non-preemptive priority shows an improvement of about 32% (at small arrival rates) for the primary user and up to 38% for the secondary user, and with the preemptive priority, there is 19%-42% and up to 33% (at small arrival rates) reduction in the primary user and secondary user waiting times respectively. Furthermore, a multichannel system, the M/D/s model is proposed and it is also investigated with the preemptive and non-preemptive priority queueing. The non-preemptive model shows a decrease in the secondary user waiting time, by allowing it to effectively occupy the time slots without affecting the primary user transmission. Moreover, the primary user waiting time is reduced by means of the preemptive model.","PeriodicalId":133824,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2015 - International Conference on Computer as a Tool (EUROCON)","volume":"294 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116176960","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, research towards providing tools enabling the most accurate recognition is necessary. In this work, the problem of smiling and neutral facial display classification is addressed. For image description, the local binary patterns (LBP) as well as the novel power LBP (PLBP) texture operators are exploited. Their performance is compared on several databases and examined for variations from the standard designs, such as uniform and rotation invariant approaches. The classification is performed with the use of support vector machine, SVM. The obtained results show that when applying detailed image division schema, which is characterised by many small image patches analyzed separately, the introduced PLBP overcomes the LBP method. Moreover, the uniform or rotation invariant LBP versions do not improve the classification. However, the accuracy achieved using different types of PLBP is higher than when applying the standard LBP technique.","PeriodicalId":133824,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2015 - International Conference on Computer as a Tool (EUROCON)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124776703","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
