The most important problem is the misalignment, which is the mismatch between the impulse responses of adaptive filters and those of the acoustic paths of the receiving room (in the teleconferencing application, as an example) and therefore a severe divergence of filters in the event of abrupt changes of the transmission room acoustic paths. The main reason for such mismatching is the two-channel nature of the system and the high degree of cross-correlation of the input signals of those channels. In this paper, we try to reduce the correlation between the two channels in the transform domain. To achieve this, with inspiration from the lattice predictor structure, we present a novel approach for reduction of cross-correlation of the input vectors of two channels in the wavelet domain that lead to a reduction in the misalignment of adaptive filters for the SAEC.","PeriodicalId":133602,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Telecommunications","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116681599","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Then the genetic algorithm (GA) is used to find the optimum root locations that generate the desired pattern from the extended relations. Also, for the first time, we directly impose the constraints on generator voltages and reduce the dynamic range of voltage sources. Also we consider the mutual coupling (MC) in pattern synthesis with the isolated element pattern method and modify generator voltages to include MC. In order to initiate streaming, the initial bandwidth requirement is estimated using monotonically decreasing rate scheduler (downstairs reservation function). We have observed that, insertion of the SP pictures can change the characteristics of the downstairs reservation function. These changes are critically analyzed and a solution is proposed in order to design efficient switching algorithm to achieve the best QoS. Extensive simulations are performed to investigate the changes in the downstairs reservation scheme with the inserted SP Pictures and the proposed algorithm under the H.264/AVC framework.","PeriodicalId":133602,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Telecommunications","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115569948","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We demonstrate that by replacing the proposed optimum estimator with mixture-maximization (Mixmax) or Quadratic estimators, it is possible to reach at a lower estimation error while separating mixture of speech signals. In addition, the proposed estimator results in less cross-talk as well as higher perceptual quality in the separated speech signals. Compared to other estimators including Mixmax, the proposed method attains these merits without using non-linear mapping used in Mixmax i.e. taking log and inverse-log. Experimental results on real speech data also confirm the superiority of the proposed estimator to others in Mean Square Error (MSE) sense.","PeriodicalId":133602,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Telecommunications","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129524365","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, end to end flow control has gained popularity in the design process of network-on-chip based SoCs. Where flow control is employed, fairness issues need to be considered as well. In fact, one of most difficult aspects of flow control is that of treating all sources fairly when it is necessary to turn traffic away from the network. In this paper, we propose a flow control scheme which admits max-min fairness criterion for all sources. In fact, we formulate weighted max-min fairness criterion for the NoC architecture and present implementation to be used as flow control mechanism.","PeriodicalId":133602,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Telecommunications","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124968349","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Clustering has evolved as an important research topic in MANETs as it improves the system performance of large MANETs. Clustering is a process that divides the network into interconnected substructures, called clusters. Each cluster has a cluster head as coordinator within the substructure. In this paper, we propose a new clustering protocol for MANET. The proposed algorithm is a very quick clustering algorithm and creates minimum clusters with maximum member node in each cluster. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm provides better performance in terms of the number of formed clusters and average number of transition (state change) on cluster heads when compared to that of other weight based algorithms such as weighted clustering algorithm (WCA).","PeriodicalId":133602,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Telecommunications","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126240942","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is shown that this method has a relatively good accuracy for high transmitter antennas. Since in fixed wireless access, high transmitter antennas are used, we can use this method for this kind of communications and in special case for systems based on IEEE 802.16a. In this method a new empirical model for calculation of path loss exponent is used which is based on measurements reported in various papers and in contrast to other models, the effect of receiver antenna height in the path loss exponent is considered. The first step of this method is the calculation of path loss for a 2D scenario by using GO and UTD methods with respect to transmitter-receiver distance. Then using new empirical model, path loss exponent is corrected and in this manner, the final path loss is obtained.","PeriodicalId":133602,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Telecommunications","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127967654","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditionally research effort considers only distance and bandwidth for modelling of financial cost and ignores the effects terrain may have. We show quantitatively how geographical terrain and associated link technology influence the total cost. Our approach has implications for regulators who need to govern interconnection prices of services (voice, message or data) which may be provided by networks of different operators. We have modelled the link cost based on distance, bandwidth, terrain and technology simultaneously using a general error regression technique applied to real data obtained from the Indian Telecom Company, BSNL. We show that the error between the actual and modelled cost is less than 5% for all cases. Using our model, the financial cost to the operator is reduced and regulators can ensure a balanced development for the country.","PeriodicalId":133602,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Telecommunications","volume":"104 3-4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132879652","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
