It is commonly used as fodder and in quite a variety of medicinal applications. E. acuminata is widely used in India, but there are few reports in the literature of studies on its biological properties. In this study, the antidiabetic and anti-inflammatory activities of plant E. acuminata was evaluated. The antidiabetic activity of the different extracts was measured by α -amylase and α -glycosidase inhibition method. The anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated by the egg albumin of hen. Petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate, ethanol and water extracts of bark of E. acuminata was evaluated for in-vitro anti-inflammatory and antidiabetic activity. Ethyl acetate and ethanol extract showed significant anti-inflammatory effects (IC 50 170 and 172 µg/mL respectively). Chloroform is the only extract that showed significant inhibition against the antidiabetic effect (IC 50 42-45 µg/mL). The findings suggest that the bark of E. acuminata contains potential antidiabetic and anti-inflammatory compounds, which could be tested as drug candidates against diabetic and inflammation-related pathological processes in medicinal chemistry studies. flavone derivative ovalifolia","PeriodicalId":13297,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Natural Products and Resources","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70703868","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Poir leaf extract. The antioxidant properties were evaluated by four antioxidant methods, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl-hydrate assay, hydroxyl radical (HO%) scavenging assay, superoxide anion (O2%) radical scavenging assay, and nitric oxide (NO%) scavenging assay. The free radical scavenging activity of hydroethanolic extract of E. tectorius was found to be high for DPPH, nitric oxide, superoxide, and hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) radicals in a concentration-dependent manner. The content of total phenols, flavonoids, and tannins was also high in the hydroethanolic extract. The antioxidant capacity and total phenolic content were shown to be significantly related, indicating that phenolic chemicals are the primary contributors to plants' antioxidant capabilities. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the hydroethanolic leaf extract of E. tectorius could serve as a potential source of antioxidants and can be explored as a therapeutic agent in free radical-induced diseases.","PeriodicalId":13297,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Natural Products and Resources","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70704393","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
