The subtle clue such as eosinophilia, food habits, and travel history can help us diagnose parasitic infections. Pulmonary paragonimiasis with coughing up rusty brown sputum is the most common presentation of the disease. Praziquantel is mainstay of treatment. Highlight: This case report is to draw the attention of the medical fraternity to the diagnosis of paragonimiasis which is endemic in Asian, African, and South American countries, whose diagnosis is often delayed or missed.

A 45-year-old female presented with a left foot ulcer and gradually increasing swelling for 13 years in our department. The radiograph revealed multiple punch-out lytic areas in the tarsals with sclerosis and destruction of the calcaneum. The characteristic “dotin-circle” sign was appreciated on both ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging. The causative organism and the radiological evaluation, especially bone involvement, are the most important factors that determine the choice of treatment. In the initial stages, chemotherapeutic drugs along with surgery are effective. The current concept is with treatment with a combination of drugs under the name of Welsh regimen.

This leads to loneliness, isolation, and psychological distress among them, putting them at risk of developing mental and psychological disorders such as depression, dementia and anxiety. In older people, total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is one of the most common orthopedic surgeries undertaken. For physical therapeutic rehabilitation, home exercise programs (HEPs) are prescribed post-surgery. These programs require a lot of self-motivation which is reduced in those with mental illnesses. The objectives of this study were to assess the psychological distress levels in patients, to assess their HEP adherence, and, lastly, to study whether there is a correlation between the patient’s psychological distress levels and their HEP adherence.\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000Forty-three subjects who underwent TKA were recruited during their post-operative hospital stay. Their demographic data and date of surgery were collected. At 1 month postoperatively, they were sent a Google form comprising two questionnaires-subsection B of the exercise adherence rating scale and patient health questionnaire-4 to measure adherence to HEP and psychological distress levels. Obtained scores were correlated using Spearman’s test. The confidence interval and P value were set at 95% and <0.05, respectively.\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000The mean age of the 43 subjects was 62.58 ± 9.15. Applied Machine Learning. 3 Credits. Machine Learning (ML) is the art of solving a computation problem using a computer without an explicit program. ML is now so pervasive that various ML applications such as image recognition, stock trading, email spam detection, product recommendation, medical diagnosis, predictive maintenance, cybersecurity, etc. are constantly used by organizations around us, sometimes without our awareness. In this course, we will rigorously apply machine learning techniques to real-world data to solve real-world problems. We will briefly study the underlying principles of diverse machine learning approaches such as anomaly detection, ensemble learning, deep learning with a neural network, etc. The main focus will be applying tool libraries from the Python-based Anaconda and Java-based Weka data science platforms to datasets from online resources such as Kaggle, UCI KDD, open source repositories, etc. We will also use Jupyter notebooks to present and demonstrate several machine learning pipelines. An effective and validated approach to assessing population diabetes risk is the Indian diabetes risk score (IDRS). Diabetic women are more vulnerable to many unfavorable outcomes. The objective of this study was to determine the risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) among females aged 30 years and more using IDRS.\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000A cross-sectional study was conducted among 626 self-declared non-diabetic females from July 2022 to January 2023 using a semi-structured interview schedule. IDRS was used to assess diabetes risk.\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000IDRS categorization revealed 15.8%, 44.6%, and 39.6% participants in low-, moderate-, and high-risk categories, respectively. Sensitivity and specificity were 67.5 (60.6–74.4) and 41.6 (34.3–48.9), respectively, compared to the gold standard test (Fasting blood sugar). At a 95% confidence interval, the area under the curve of receiver operating characteristic was found to be 0.6 (0.47–0.68).\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000Nearly two-fifths (39.6%) of the participants had a high risk of getting T2DM. With changing demographics over the years, we tried to assess the impact of university programs for the promotion of equality in ethnic representation in the medical community. The US population, based on the data taken from the US Census Bureau, was compared to the Faculty Administrative Management Online User System (FAMOUS) data to analyze the representation of the medical community to the general US population. Females have reached near parity in their representation within the medical community faculty. Underrepresented in medicine individuals have not come far enough to reach parity in their representation within the medical community. As compared to the general US population, while Asians are overrepresented, Black and Hispanic proportions in the medical community are still underrepresented.
