These services are usually employed to share information and to interact with other people. All this information is reused by marketing companies to create sociological profiles of the users. Users, however, often share similar pieces of information via different platforms. This entails an irrational consumption of the device's resources. In addition, if those pieces of information are not exactly the same, the sociological profiles created might be incomplete or even contradictory. The capabilities of current smartphones enable them to keep all the owner's information, and to provide services for accessing it. To achieve such a paradigm shift, new tools and platforms are needed. This communication succinctly describes Jet, a mobile application that allows users to communicate via their features and location. The use of this new model reduces the consumption of smartphone resources, and facilitates the creation of comprehensive sociological profiles.","PeriodicalId":131706,"journal":{"name":"2015 2nd ACM International Conference on Mobile Software Engineering and Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130793098","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, users might experience bugs and crashes for some of these apps. In this paper, we perform an empirical study of the official Google Play Store to automatically mine for such error-suspicious apps. We use the knowledge inferred from this analysis to build a recommender system of buggy app checkers. More specifically, we analyze the permissions and the user reviews of 46, 644 apps to identify potential correlations between error-sensitive permissions and error-related reviews along time. This study reveals error-sensitive permissions and patterns that potentially induce the errors reported online by users. As a result, our systems give app store moderators efficient static checkers to predict buggy apps before they harm the reputation of the app store as a whole.","PeriodicalId":131706,"journal":{"name":"2015 2nd ACM International Conference on Mobile Software Engineering and Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131257460","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we describe a code-generation environment, namely WL++, for mobile applications accessing Restful back-ends. Our framework (a) extracts the data models of the to-be-generated application from the back-end APIs or from existing resource schemas, (b) enables developers to extend the application model and annotate it with information regarding the application's user-interaction behavior through a graphical editor, and (c) transforms it into a mobile application, through a template-refinement process, that can be deployed on a variety of platforms.","PeriodicalId":131706,"journal":{"name":"2015 2nd ACM International Conference on Mobile Software Engineering and Systems","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128808418","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Finding error-related pieces of code is one of the most complicated tasks and it can make incorrect results if done manually. Semi-automated and fully-automated methods have been introduced to overcome this issue. The rapid growth of developing Smart Mobile Applications (SMAs) in recent years, competition among the development teams and many other factors have increased the chance of errors, and hence, the quality of these applications have reduced. There are two approaches to test SMAs in order to reach a high degree of quality: (i) using existing traditional methods and adapting them to SMA environments and (ii) introducing new special methods for SMAs. In this paper, we introduce a semi-automated hybrid method to localize exception errors in Android applications. The proposed approach includes the following three phases: extraction, execution and evaluation. In the extraction phase, all the information about the application under the test (AUT) such as the activity and object properties will be extracted. In the execution phase, we generate a set of test cases and execute them on the AUT. In the evaluation phase, we use test case traces, variable value patterns, and backward static slicing techniques to rank lines of application source code with respect to their relevance to that fault. To support localization of multiple errors in a single run of the approach, we introduce a classification measure on test case traces. Evaluations on nine open source Android applications of different sizes show that our method is effective in practice.","PeriodicalId":131706,"journal":{"name":"2015 2nd ACM International Conference on Mobile Software Engineering and Systems","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128440131","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Increasingly often, they are designed to take into account the special characteristics of different devices. In terms of implementation, designing these responsive web services requires frameworks and guidelines for user interface design for both desktop and mobile devices. In this paper we present a case study which was done during the implementation of open data. Fi service. During the project responsive mobile user interfaces were implemented to existing open source software with preserving as much of the original layouts as possible. We provide some insights to tools and libraries used in building the responsive user interfaces and share some of the findings that work well in customizing existing software. We also provide examples of solutions that wont work so well and look how to solve them properly.","PeriodicalId":131706,"journal":{"name":"2015 2nd ACM International Conference on Mobile Software Engineering and Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128986698","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As users spend the majority of their time is several fixed locations (home, work), existing algorithms are unable to identify the exact time in which a person is likely to depart from one place to another. In this work we present a sensor-based approach designed to predict the departure time of users. By using location and accelerometer sensors we were able to train a generic classification model that is able to predict whether the user will stay put or move to a different location with true positive rate of 0.73 and false positive rate of 0.3.","PeriodicalId":131706,"journal":{"name":"2015 2nd ACM International Conference on Mobile Software Engineering and Systems","volume":"36 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128781067","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A large number of mobile applications makes use of Web APIs to integrate services into apps. Each Web API's evolution pace is determined by their respective developer and mobile application developers are forced to accompany the API providers in their software evolution tasks. In this paper we investigate whether and how mobile application developers deal with the added distress of Web APIs evolving. In particular, we studied how robust 43 high profile mobile applications are when dealing with mutated Web API responses. Additionally, we interviewed three mobile application developers to better understand their choices and trade-offs regarding Web API integration.","PeriodicalId":131706,"journal":{"name":"2015 2nd ACM International Conference on Mobile Software Engineering and Systems","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131273011","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
