Diagnostic classifications were key in this attempt at positivization. We analyze the relevance of the term \"Freudo-Marxism\", its differences with Argentine militant psychoanalysis influential in social currents of psychoanalysis in Spain, and the historical review of the movement carried out by a relevant figure for Spanish psychology such as Antonio Caparrós i Benedicto. In response to the emergence of covid-19, scientists revisited traditional Chinese medicine. This source of inspiration for drugs to treat this new disease is described here at three different levels: traditional Chinese medicinal herbs, traditional Chinese medical formulas, and traditional Chinese medical texts. Drug discovery inspired by traditional Chinese medicine still faces serious resistance for various reasons, including its system of formulas and clinical trial design. Reflecting on the comparative lack of work here, it traces psychotherapies' identity crisis, focussing on nodal points such as the rise of the term, failed attempts to unify the field from Forel to Jung, and the rise of outcome studies. Here I explore White's original work and maintain that his understanding of transference, the unconscious, symbolism, language, and defense mechanisms were rooted in both traditional intrapsychic and individualistically oriented conceptions and influenced by his orientation toward social psychiatry. Initially, in a close dialogue with Gilberto Freyre, the author conceives the country drawing on the notion of the tropics, a fluid space where Portugal could be recreated through the bond with the ocean. In Monções and Caminhos e fronteiras , the historian develops a deliberately opposed vision, conceiving the country from the notion of frontier, a rough space where a foreigner's adaptability reaches its limit. In this research note, we will identify and analyze the various social responses to covid-19 in Peru: denial, panic, search for culprits, search for \"magic remedies,\" and, in some sectors, mistrust towards the State and science. We argue that these social responses have been common throughout history, both in pandemics prior to the development of the bacteriological era and in the most recent ones. The experiment was later repeated in other Brazilian provinces and abroad. This article establishes relationships between medical practices in other parts of the country while focusing on the dialog between official and Indigenous medicine.
