MIPS is a highly energy-efficient processor, with average performance and a low price range, and as such is suitable for use on mobile devices. Overview of platform's capabilities and reasons for porting of the operating system are given, followed by technical requirements for porting Firefox OS to the new architecture. Paper ends with results of comparative tests, performed on ARM and MIPS platforms.","PeriodicalId":130784,"journal":{"name":"2015 23rd Telecommunications Forum Telfor (TELFOR)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127471293","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The E-O polymer based deflector is used for a spatial sampling of a radio frequency (RF) voltage applied through in-plane lateral configuration electrodes. The traditional poling configuration, in the metal-contact technique, by sandwiching the waveguide between a ground plane and a full plate top electrode is not adapted for chromophore orientation in lateral direction. We propose to build one set of electrodes, for both poling and driving the E-O polymer based optical deflector, by adding DC contacts for each strips via low-pass filter to avoid narrowing of the RF bandwidth. The DC poling contacts introduce only 1 dB additional insertion losses and reduce the bandwidth from 25.5 down to 21.6 GHz while the E-O effect should be increased due to the optimal chromophores orientation.","PeriodicalId":130784,"journal":{"name":"2015 23rd Telecommunications Forum Telfor (TELFOR)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117035168","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

EO polymers are known as much more promising than the popular inorganic EO crystal Lithium Niobate (LiNbO3). Indeed, EO polymers can have larger EO coefficients and permit broader component bandwidths due to a better velocity matching between lightwave and microwave signal. In this study, we use a classical EO polymer constituted of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) used as host polymer matrix in which Disperse Red 1 (DR1) EO dyes have been dispersed. The obtained results show that both the dielectric constant and the refractive index of PMMA-DR1 films may be continuously tuned by incorporating SiC nanoparticles. Therefore, one can increase component bandwidths by optimizing phase velocity matching between lightwave and microwave signal and improve optical mode coupling.","PeriodicalId":130784,"journal":{"name":"2015 23rd Telecommunications Forum Telfor (TELFOR)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123500827","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Multimedia services are more demanding compared to traditional voice services in terms of bandwidth availability and integrity. The capacity and the bandwidth reservation on demand according to QoS requirements are key concepts in mobile cellular communications. The available frequency spectrum is limited and the demand for enhanced mobile user facilities is increasing day by day, hence the channels must be reused as much as possible to increase the system capacity. Existing and proposed channel assignment strategies have to be transformed to support efficiently the new demanding multimedia services. Through this paper we present a review of the most known channel assignment strategies, as well as their QoS aspects and we propose new DCA variations and a channel architecture adapted to QoS requirements for supporting multimedia services. We also present some strategies, models and conclusions for algorithm evaluation based on experimental results.","PeriodicalId":130784,"journal":{"name":"2015 23rd Telecommunications Forum Telfor (TELFOR)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129761423","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One filter is designed to handle sparse impulse responses and the other one performs better if impulse response is dispersive. Filter outputs are combined using an adaptive mixing parameter and the resulting output shows better performance than each of the combining filters separately. We also demonstrate that affine combination results in faster convergence than convex combination of two adaptive filters.","PeriodicalId":130784,"journal":{"name":"2015 23rd Telecommunications Forum Telfor (TELFOR)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117204373","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
