But at the same time, it is important to provide continuity of teaching and timely certification assessment. Overcoming the obstacles to conduct the professional examination due to SARS-CoV-2 spread, we conducted the MD Geriatric medicine final professional examination in a hybrid virtual format. In addition to creating case repository for single system cases, we included geriatric cases with multiple combination of geriatric syndromes. The examinees were assessed by the external examiners virtually through a video conferencing platform. The end results were well appreciated by all key stake holders. The concerns, logistics and experience of conducting the MD Geriatric medicine examination in a virtual format are summarized here.

Atotal of 294 patients admitted in the Medicine/Geriatric Ward, were included in stressors is compromised”. It is a robust and powerful risk factor for disability. With this background, study was conducted at a tertiary centre with objectives to assess the frailty in elderly patients and to assess the correlation of frailty with Serum Albumin and CRP physiologic systems, such that the ability to cope with every day or acute and evaluate the clinical outcome in terms of length of hospital stay. The study. Demographic details and details of known comorbidities were recorded. Cognition score of all patients were assessed using mini mental scale examination. Investigations like Serum Albumin and CRP were done. The data was analyzed using statistical software. Our results show that in hospitalized patients frailty is seen in both gender. The presence of co-morbidities worsens the frailty. 30 second chair test is very good indicator for frailty and risk of fall and we observed reduced duration in the Pre-Frail group. The cognition score decreased along with the increase in age groups. When compared with the Frailty index, it was more in the Pre-Frail group. The duration of hospital stay was more in Frail group. The mean serum albumin level is important marker to identify early frailty.Assessment of frailty in elderly patients is necessary and identifying Pre-Frailgroup is very important. 30 second chair stand test and serum albumin are very important early markers in the assessment of frailty. Cognitive function is also very important to identify early frailty. Our study shows that the length of hospital stay is more in the Frail group. Frailty is important aspect of elderly. This shift is described as person centred care. Despite the wide availability of literature, philosophy and evidence on the outcomes of the person centred care, barely it is an ideal in reality. This present article throws light on the philosophy and challenges of person centred care and tries to raise the awareness and understanding about person centred care for people with dementia and explores on the challenges underpinning person-centred care in dementia.Person centred care means, being “respectful of and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs, and values and ensuring that patient values guide all clinical decisions”. Each individual has unique history, personality, values, right to dignity, respect and right to participation. PCC framework emphasises on the assumptions made about the people with dementia, care givers attitude, models and care practices, factors at organisational level, cultural factors as well as structural elements such as lighting and flooring. It is a holistic philosophy across the continuum of services which takes into account the specific needs of each person. The philosophy of person centred care focuses on “the abilities and strength of the person than the losses” and on “the person than on the condition”.Lack of clarity in understanding person centred care in dementia, lack of research evidence, not valuing the views and needs of people with dementia, organisational culture, task centred care culture, lack of resources. : To improve quality of life of people with dementia and for the better functioning of the people with dementia there is a need for greater implementation of person centred care. However the challenges in the implementation of person centred care are masking the achievements and positive aspects of the person centred care approach. The challenge ahead for dementia experts is to advocate and raise the awareness and understanding and to provide evidence based solutions in practically implementing person centred care and making it more real in practice than keeping it ideal in literature.

Areas which are often affected by angioedema have a wide range starting from the face, lips, tongue, pharynx, the supraglottic area and rarely, the subglottic area. It might also effect the gastrointestinal mucous membranes, genitalia, hands and feet. There maybe variety of causes for development of angioedema including various drug intake, insect bites or stings and certain types of food products particularly nuts, milk and eggs. Levamisole is known to have anthelminthic and immunomodulatory properties and is a common contaminant in cocaine due to its mood stimulatory action. Here we report a case of a 60-year-old female who presented with angioedema following ingestion of a drug known as levamisole for its anthelminthic activity.

Increased pill burden makes it difficult for the elderly to take the medications correctly and thus ending with poor symptom control, recurrent hospitalization and even death. Every patient should be made aware of their medication, timings, desired effects, side effects, and precautions. As most of the medications come with instructions that are written at a high readability level, the elderly with low literacy are unaware of the drugs being taken appropriately leading to mishaps. Many of the physicians are unable to communicate effectively with the elderly patient due to various reasons like time constraints and high patient load. The role of the pharmacist is limited solely to dispensing medicines and effective pharmaceutical care is limited to few. With this background, an observational study was conducted to evaluate the compliance to medication in 108 elderly patients before and after the use of pictogram pouches in Geriatric OPD at JSS Medical College Hospital, Mysore, Karnataka funded\u0000by ICMR. \u0000\u0000Materials and materials : This was a prospective observational study carried out from May 2019 to July 2019 in the Geriatric OPD, JSS Medical College Hospital, Mysore, Karnataka.
