As a result, air pollution is expected to increase in conjunction with the increase in the number of the vehicles.  In particular, Carbon Monoxide (CO) has been identified as the main component of the emission sources from vehicles other than Nitrogen Oxide (NOx), hydrocarbon lead and particulate matter of size less than 10 micron (PM10).  This provides the reason why CO concentration is often used to reflect traffic density in an area. CO has both short-term and long-term effect on human’s health. Thus, knowledge on CO behaviour and the future levels at an area is important to help decision makers in managing air pollution due to vehicles emission in the country. This study was conducted to describe CO data and to determine a suitable time series model to enable the prediction of CO levels at two industrial sites; Perai and Pasir Gudang, Malaysia. The model obtained could help management to mitigate CO pollution at the sites. The analysis was conducted using daily maximum data which was obtained from the Department of Environment Malaysia from 2010 to 2014. The performance of the best model was determined using several performance measures such as MAE, RMSE and MAPE.   The study has found that the most appropriate time series model for Perai is ARIMA (3,1,1) and for Pasir Gudang is SARIMA (2, 1, 8) (1, 1, 2)7. \u0000 ","PeriodicalId":129482,"journal":{"name":"MALAYSIAN JOURNAL OF COMPUTING","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132488333","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Estimated by Jumoki in early 2018 to 2022, there will be about 18 billion connected IoT devices. Therefore many issue related to IoT devices were discussed especially data security. Cryptography with lightweight features is one of the focus area by researchers to develop a powerful cryptography scheme for IoT devices. Lightweight cryptography scheme has been discussed and proposed widely recently. There are AES, PRESENT, Hash algorithm declared as a lightweight algorithm under consideration in ISO/IEC 29192 “Lightweight Cryptography”. Unfortunately these lightweight algorithm is one-to-one communication cryptography technique. This algorithm is very practical to implement for individuals or for small group communication but unpractical when implemented in a big company where many users can become a bottleneck. Therefore we propose a lightweight Ciphertext Policy-Attribute Based Encryption (CP-ABE) algorithm to implement in IoT devices. CP-ABE algorithm is one-to-many technique suitable for secure grouping communication, but this algorithm is not a lightweight feature. Therefore this paper proposes a lightweight CP-ABE algorithm for IoT devices.  ","PeriodicalId":129482,"journal":{"name":"MALAYSIAN JOURNAL OF COMPUTING","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126822398","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ignorance of the fact that man can be a carrier of the disease makes every practical and theoretical approach towards the study of the disease a good development. In this work, a mathematical model is designed to incorporate a saturated incidence rate such that the incidence rate is saturated around the infectious agents. The model is studied qualitatively via stability theory of nonlinear differential equations to assess the effects of general awareness, constant vaccination and the saturated treatment on the transmission dynamics of rabies disease. The effective reproduction number is derived and the numerical simulation is carried out to verify the analytical results. It is discovered that while general awareness plays pivotal roles in averting rabies death, multiple control measures have the tendency of driving rabies to extinction.","PeriodicalId":129482,"journal":{"name":"MALAYSIAN JOURNAL OF COMPUTING","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133247069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Having an automated solution for the analysis can contribute to minimizing the workloads, improve efficiency and reduce the potential of reading errors. Many methods have been proposed to address chest x-ray image classification and detection. However, the application of regional-based convolutional neural networks (CNN) is currently limited. Thus, we propose an approach to classify chest x-ray images into either one of two categories, pathological or normal based on Faster Regional-CNN model. This model utilizes Region Proposal Network (RPN) to generate region proposals and perform image classification. By applying this model, we can potentially achieve two key goals, high confidence in the classification and reducing the computation time. The results show the applied model achieved higher accuracy as compared to the medical representatives on the random chest x-ray images. The classification model is also reasonably effective in classifying between finding and normal chest x-ray image captured through a live webcam.","PeriodicalId":129482,"journal":{"name":"MALAYSIAN JOURNAL OF COMPUTING","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123853038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work concentrates on developing an accurate and robust energy feature extraction for modelling filled pause and elongation by investigating different energy features using local maxima points of the speech energy. Method: In this paper, we extracted peak values from each frame of a voiced signal by implementing different thresholding techniques to classify filled pause and elongation. These energy features are evaluated by using statistical naïve Bayes classifier to see the contribution on the classification processes. Various samples of sustained syllables and filled pauses of spontaneous speech were extracted from Malaysian Parliamentary Debate Database of the year 2008. A naïve Bayes was used as a classifier. We performed F-measure evaluation to investigate the significant differences in mean of filled pause and elongation samples. Results: Results revealed that our proposed LM-E has increase the classification with up to 71% and 75% F-measure for elongation and filled pause. Conclusion:  The best achieved accuracies in both filled pause and elongation classification were varied depending on the types of thresholding techniques applied during the local maxima of speech energy extraction. The most contributed thresholding technique is our proposed technique which is by using the adaptive height as the threshold that extracts the local maxima of the speech energy (LM-E).","PeriodicalId":129482,"journal":{"name":"MALAYSIAN JOURNAL OF COMPUTING","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133018258","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, mobile operators and developers mainly target the youngster cohort in mobile industry. With the rising ageing population, smartphone user interface and some mobile apps are not designed to cater the needs of older adults. This could hinder them from fully utilizing the smartphone functions and its services. A mobile-user interaction study using mixed-methods (questionnaire, interview and observation) was conducted to examine usability and user interface design issues of smartphone and mobile apps among 80 older adults in Malaysia. Four tasks design were ‘making voice calls’, ‘using phonebook’, ‘installing a mobile app from Google Play Store’, and ‘using WhatsApp’. The results were analysed both quantitatively (for usability evaluation) and qualitatively (for interviews and observation). The usability result revealed that the ‘voice call’ task had the highest success task completion rate (83.44%), followed by ‘phonebook’ (70.16%), ‘mobile app download’ (63.13%) and ‘using WhatsApp’ (60.42%). Three themes were emerged from the qualitative thematic analysis, which showed a mismatch between older adults’ expectation and smartphone user interface. A majority had never downloaded a mobile app before, and they had problems downloading it from Play Store. They perceived the Play Store feature as a place for children playing games. To close the discrepancy between user expectation and mobile design, the mobile designers and developers are required to consider the older adults’ needs for better usability of smartphone user interface design","PeriodicalId":129482,"journal":{"name":"MALAYSIAN JOURNAL OF COMPUTING","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130494055","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This communication medium is so fluid that words and meaning can have many interpretations by readers. Besides, a document that consists of thousands of sentences would be tough for the reader to understand the content. In this case, computer power is required to analyse the gigantic batch size of the text. However, there are several arguments that actively discuss regarding the output generated by a computer toward the meaning of the passage in terms of accuracy. One of the reasons for this issue is the existing of the ambiguous word with multiple meanings in a sentence. The passage might be incorrectly translated due to wrong sense selection during the early phase of sentence translation. Translating sentence in this paper means either the sentence has a negative or positive meaning. Thus, this research discusses on how to disambiguate the term in a sentence by referring to the Wordnet repository by proposing the use of fuzzy semantic-based similarity model. The proposed model promising to return a good result for detecting the similarity of two sentences that has been proven in the past research. At the end of this paper, preliminary result which shows the flow of how the proposed framework working is discussed.","PeriodicalId":129482,"journal":{"name":"MALAYSIAN JOURNAL OF COMPUTING","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133496676","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
