This study aimed to determine the relationship between head nurses’ ethical leadership and demographic characteristics with the general self-efficacy of nurses working in Intensive Care Units (ICUs).\u0000Materials and Methods: This descriptive correlational study was conducted in 2019 on 230 nurses working in ICUs of educational-treatment centers of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences, Hamadan, Iran, who were selected using a stratified proportional sampling method. Data were collected by ethical leadership in nursing and the general self-efficacy scale of Scherer. Data were analyzed using SPSS software (version 16) through descriptive and inferential statistics.\u0000Results: There was no statistically significant association between the ethical leadership of head nurses and the general self-efficacy of nurses. The general self-efficacy of formal nurses was higher than contractual (P=0.04) and resident nurses (P=0.02), and the self-efficacy of ICU nurses was higher than those working in burn units (P=0.03). Moreover, general self-efficacy decreased with work experience (P<0.05). Considering the output of the artificial neural network, the normalized significance scores of the independent variables on the dependent variable were obtained at 100, 74.8, 56.2, 52, 47.6, 46.4, 38.1, 37.1, 27, and 13.3, for work experience, pioneering, task orientation, moralism, workplace, age, job status, gender, division of power, and education, respectively.\u0000Conclusion: Considering the significant association between some demographic variables and the general self-efficacy of nurses, nursing managers are recommended to consider these variables, especially in retraining, to improve the general self-efficacy of nurses.

The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) following the COVID-19 epidemic in health workers of Shahroud University of Medical Sciences, Iran. Methods: In this descriptive cross-sectional study, 228 Shahroud University of Medical Sciences health workers were studied from July 22 to August 22, 2020. Participants included nursing, medical, radiology, and laboratory personnel. The Demographic Information Questionnaire and PTSD Checklist - Civilian version (PCL-C) was completed online. Descriptive statistics and the multivariate linear regression model were used to analyze the data. Results: Based on the results, 85.5% of people were experienced PTSD. The regression determination coefficient (R2) was 15.1, so that men experienced 4.88 units of lower posttraumatic stress than women. People whose relatives died of COVID-19 experienced 7/04 unit higher PTSD than others. Conclusion: Given that a significant proportion of health workers experienced PTSD, senior treatment center managers must include more supportive measures to reduce PTSD in their work schedule. © 2021 by the Author(s).

The COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences can lead to many emotional reactions in nursing students. The aim of this study was to investigate emotional reactions to COVID-19 and coping strategies in nursing students. Methods: This descriptive and correlational study was conducted in 2021 at Saveh University of Medical Sciences, Iran, on 106 nursing students chosen by census method. The tools used in this study included two standard questionnaires of emotional reactions to COVID-19 Huang et al. and Carver's coping strategies questionnaire (brief form). Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 19. Results: The mean score of the dimensions of emotional reactions was 4.06 ±0.56, 4.19 ±0.77, 3.08 ±0.56, and 2.89 ±0.56, in the field of fear, anxiety, sadness, and anger, respectively. There was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of fear and anxiety with gender (P<0.05). The mean scores of problem-focused and emotion-focused coping strategies were 2.97 ±0.97 and 3.06 ±0.97, respectively (P>0.05). There was a significant positive correlation between emotion-based coping strategies with fear, anxiety, and anger (P<0.05 (. Conclusion: Months after the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, the rate of negative emotional reactions (including fear, anxiety, anger, and sadness) is high in nursing students. There was a positive correlation between emotion-based coping strategies and emotional reactions. Therefore, particular emphasis should be placed on providing psychological support to nursing students as well as teaching coping strategies. © 2021 by the Author(s).

Nurses are mostly in close contact with patients during hospitalization. Since nursing students provide patient care alongside nurses, the discovery of nursing students’ lived experiences of caring for COVID-19 patients is of paramount importance in the effective management of the disease. The present study aimed to assess nursing students' experiences of caring for patients diagnosed with COVID-19.\u0000Materials and Methods: This qualitative study was performed by the hermeneutic phenomenological method in 2021. Samples were selected from nursing students with experience of caring for Covid-19 patients in Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences. Data were collected through semi-structured and individual interviews and analyzed simultaneously and continuously by the Van Manen method.\u0000Results: Nursing students' lived experiences in caring for Covid-19 patients included three main categories and seven subcategories: 1) conflicting emotions (anxiety, mental involvement, and maturity), 2) psychosomatic problems (sleep disorders, skin problems, and neurological problems), and 3) self-awareness and empowerment (efforts made in patient care, striving for self-preservation).\u0000Conclusion: As evidenced by the results of the present study, nursing students experienced anxiety, stress, and mental preoccupation in caring for a patient with Covid-19. On the other hand, participants were satisfied and proud of being able to provide patient care during this period.\u0000In this regard, students gained experience in caring for themselves and patients strived to reduce stress and provide proper care. According to the findings of this study, the education system and university administrators can help reduce psychological stress and improve the quality of care in nursing students through holding web-based courses on stress management skills, training on the use of personal protective equipment, and observing health protocols.
