The influence of single-phase traction converter on the traction trolley and load is a specific problem. The locomotives on the line are a source of harmonic currents. This source affects the voltage distortion on the system. Connection of filtration compensation unit significantly sinks the voltage curve distortion, especially at the power supply station. Due to compensation power of filters is necessary present decompensation reactor. This paper describes the steady states and is focused on the possible extreme cases. The influence of filter parameters in cases of extreme distortion has been investigated.","PeriodicalId":128620,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference-Workshop Compatibility And Power Electronics","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122710442","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Compared to resistive or motoric loads these loads have constant power consumption, which is independent of the supply voltage. This characteristic may have a negative effect on the stability of a power supply system. In addition real Constant-Power-Loads can have some other peculiarities. Depending of the topology or the supplied voltage type (AC or DC) the dynamic characteristic differs. This paper deals with a characterization of 4 types of Constant-Power-Loads in an actual and future aircraft grid. The investigations are focused to the dynamic characterization of different loads. Theoretical investigations are combined with measurements in an artificial aircraft grid with realistic supply voltage variations.","PeriodicalId":128620,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference-Workshop Compatibility And Power Electronics","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114848231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among the various available methods, the ones found to be satisfactorily accurate are based on the Maxwell's stress tensor, which involves both normal and tangential air-gap field and lead to quite involved calculation formulas. In this paper, a relatively simple alternative is proposed where permanent magnets are modeled as equivalent field circuits to which a well defined winding function can be associated. The approach leads to a plain cogging torque formulation where only the normal no-load air-gap flux density appears. The accuracy of the method is assessed by Finite Element (FE) analysis on some sample SPM machine geometries. The results are shown to match FE simulations with a satisfactory accuracy compared to Maxwell-stress-tensor-based analytical techniques available from the literature.","PeriodicalId":128620,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference-Workshop Compatibility And Power Electronics","volume":"112 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126159903","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper identified levels of temporary overvoltages on the basis of measurement results in an annual period during 2010 in specific points of 220 kV and 400 kV network. Measurements were made that exceeded upper voltage limits in relation to referential voltages and their duration for the considered measurement time. In order to indicate the problem of overvoltages in the transmission network additional voltage measurements were made during 2011 in a specific point Mostar 4, on the 440 kV side and in a point Prijedor 2, on the 220 kV side. For specific 220 kV and 400 kV overhead lines overvoltage calculations were made by using ATP-EMTP. Comparison with the measured values indicated good correlation of the measurement results and the calculation. The paper indicates the need for new methods of implementation in order to reduce overvoltages since the existing methods are not sufficient.","PeriodicalId":128620,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference-Workshop Compatibility And Power Electronics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129855864","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Previously some well-known voltage fed (VF) topologies of such drivers (buck, boost and buck-boost) have been analyzed from the point of view of their non-linearity and accuracy achievable with practical control solutions in the static operation mode. It has been found that the volt-ampere curve of LEDs has a significant negative impact on the mentioned parameters in the case of VF drivers. The given paper extends this comparative study also to current fed (CF) dimmable drivers. The topologies of CF drivers are introduced, their static equations are obtained and then the CF drivers are tested experimentally. Conclusions about benefits of the CF drivers in the static operation mode compared with VF circuits are drawn in the final part of the paper.","PeriodicalId":128620,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference-Workshop Compatibility And Power Electronics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131060378","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

New technologies of water turbines allow the exploitation of ultra-low heads down to 1 m. We have developed a computer program, which makes assessment of energy performance and economic efficiency of small hydropower plant possible. The program has many options from selection of turbine type to variation of number of turbines. Through calculation of efficiency, exploitable flow, net head and other factors, the program calculates nominal power of the power plant and its energy production over a chosen time period. Considering many different conditions we have found out that for power plant in question two units in parallel arrangement of overall nominal power not exceeding 50 kW is preferred solution. Results enable good insight into project viability and thus offer support to investors or sales technicians, while planning investments in hydropower plants on ultra-low head and moderate flow watercourses.","PeriodicalId":128620,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference-Workshop Compatibility And Power Electronics","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115146651","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
