In-depth analysis and fully utilization of these information play an important decision-making role in controlling risk and enhancing safety performance in chemical industry. In this work, a survey of use of accident data is conducted around the world and the result shows that the detailed use of these information play an important role in preventing accidents. However, in China there much more needs to be done in the application of accident data. According to the needs of safety management of chemical plants, a simple and effective method of the use of chemical accident cases is proposed based on collecting and analyzing of a large number of chemical accident cases. And finally, a utilization system of chemical industry accident cases is implemented through Microsoft access 2010. The result shows that the system can realize the effective management and use of past chemical accident information.","PeriodicalId":128068,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics (SOLI)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126522199","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Additive Manufacturing can reshape the typical structure of manufacturing, shifting it toward more collaborative manufacturing. Currently, Additive Manufacturing of end products is only a small niche market. However, many Additive Manufacturing start-ups enter this market every day, and market opportunities and applications grow rapidly. At the same time, the prices of machines and materials applied in Additive Manufacturing are continuously decreasing. Consequently, this enables a new manufacturing paradigm termed “Social Manufacturing”. The principle of Social Manufacturing includes the involvement of the consumer in all stages of the manufacturing process, starting from the design and ending in the manufacturing. The objective of this paper is to show how Additive Manufacturing can be an enabler in the paradigm shift toward Social Manufacturing. We contribute to the discussion of Social Manufacturing by analyzing it in a previously under-explored context, i.e., the manufacturing of consumer products. To achieve the research objective, we review applications of Additive Manufacturing and, based on the review, propose a path for a paradigm shift to Social Manufacturing.","PeriodicalId":128068,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics (SOLI)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115187091","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, Social Manufacturing holds the promise of revolutionizing chemical process-related value chains. Social Manufacturing in Chemical Engineering is not a straightforward adoption of the principles of Social Manufacturing that were originally developed in the context of discrete products. These fundamental principles include customer involvement in all parts of the value chain, decentralized production, individualized products and small-scale production, all enabled by powerful modern information technologies. Chemical process-related value chains include both batch processes and continuous processes. The adaptation of Social Manufacturing principles varies depending on which of the two types of chemical processes is in question. With the help of two examples, the potential and limitations of Social Manufacturing in chemical engineering are explored. The first example addresses batch processes. Microbreweries, which allow Social Manufacturing in the food and beverage industry, are proving a serious competitor to large-scale industrial operations. With the help of the microbreweries example, the potential of Social Manufacturing in the food and beverage industry is explored. The second example addresses Social Manufacturing in crop science. Climate change will cause rapid changes in local ecosystems, and the need to produce sufficient amounts of food will require that crop plants adapt to these rapidly changing local ecosystems. To facilitate this adaptation, engineering based on Biochemistry is needed. Social Manufacturing offers a powerful way to mobilize the expertise of farmers and scientists to create crop plants that are suitable for each stage of the rapid change of local ecosystems. The two examples are used to adapt the principles of Social Manufacturing to the chemical engineering environment.1","PeriodicalId":128068,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics (SOLI)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134225794","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the one hand, new trends and consumer preferences for different styles and fashion products emerge continuously, thus the apparel industry becomes more mass customized. On the other hand, attention to social and environmental sustainability has been dramatically increased in the entire industry. However, the current fast-changing fashion trends result to significant environmental and resource depletion problems in the textile lifecycle. As a result, the apparel industry should consider sustainable manufacturing strategies. The current options such as organic fibers and environmentally safe dyes seem promising. Nonetheless, there are significant challenges for apparel manufacturers and retailers to capitalize sustainability. To address these problems, in this paper, we develop a conceptual model of Social Manufacturing for the apparel industry. We study the current value chain of the apparel industry and identify its challenges from the sustainability's view. Then, we propose a new model to improve the sustainability throughout the value chain of the apparel industry.","PeriodicalId":128068,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics (SOLI)","volume":"366 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122344728","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a general optimization problem, face alignment is approximately solved by learning a series of mapping functions from local appearance to the coordinates increment of the pixels to detect. There have been extensive studies and continuous improvements have been made in recent years. However, most of the existing methods only rely on the current facial texture in every iteration. It is unreliable to only rely on local appearance information when facial landmarks are partially occluded in unconstrained scenarios. In this paper, a modified supervised descent method is proposed to settle the issue, utilizing both appearance and shape information in learning regression functions. Hence, we call it asSDM. The major contribution of our proposed method is to jointly capture shape and local appearance in cascade regression framework. We evaluate the performance of the proposed method on different data sets and the experimental results on benchmark databases demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms previous work for facial landmark detection.","PeriodicalId":128068,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics (SOLI)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117042645","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper designs a novel traffic congestion detection algorithm from two aspects. One is the offline traffic data processing and the other is congestion mode judgment by online monitoring. The offline data processing includes two pars: spatial information and temporal information in the trajectories. A trajectory is represented by a spatial path and a temporal sequence. This representation supports different compression approaches for spatial information and temporal information respectively, so that both spatial compression and temporal compression can achieve high compression effectiveness. The online monitoring is as following. Traffic congestion model is based on three parameters of traffic jams (average speed, density, traffic flow), then configured parameter values were calculated based on traffic data. Base on the rule of congestion threshold by city traffic management evaluation system, urban road design requirements and highways service level analysis of indicators and grading standards, we use standard function method to calculate the parameters of standardized integrated transport threshold, and then quantify the impact of each characteristic parameter congestion to achieve the goal. Finally, the road congestion is determined, and implement the traffic congestion judgment visualization.","PeriodicalId":128068,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics (SOLI)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126109975","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
