In today’s world, almost any behaviour or characteristic might be perceived as deviating from the norm by any specific observer. Naturism, which has recently gained the interest of scholars, refers to engaging in nudity without the intention of any sexual stimulation. There is vast literature which explores perceptions and beliefs towards individuals who belong to minority groups. However, there is a current gap in the literature when it comes to understanding perceptions of textiles (non-naturists) towards naturism. The present qualitative study addresses this gap by representing non-naturists’ voices surrounding their beliefs towards naturism. Ten participants were recruited to collect rich and detailed data by convenience sampling method to explore their beliefs and perceptions towards naturism. Two distinct themes emerged from a reflective thematic analysis of the dataset: Incognizant acceptance and Beliefs surrounding naturists. Participant narratives suggest that individuals who are non-naturists but unfamiliar with naturism have a limited understanding of what it is. The findings of the present study assist in deepening our understanding of naturism and offer to challenge societal beliefs and values in relation to naturism.","PeriodicalId":12791,"journal":{"name":"GSC Advanced Research and Reviews","volume":"3 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141796102","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Autophagy and the (ubiquitin-proteasome system) UPS, two well-established routes, have been the subject of substantial research. A growing body of evidence suggests that alternate cellular disposal pathways may play a role in several health problems. This review delves into the inner workings of these alternate routes and how they relate to health and illness. Microautophagy, chaperone-mediated autophagy (CMA), and production of extracellular vesicles (EVs) are our main areas of interest. Our discussion centres on their role in neurodegenerative illnesses, cancer, and metabolic disorders, with an emphasis on possible treatments for these conditions. Novel insights into disease causes and possible treatments can be gained by understanding these pathways. Microautophagy entails direct lysosomal engulfment of cellular material, CMA selectively targets cytosolic proteins for lysosomal degradation, while EV secretion controls waste by exporting it out of the cell. Dysfunction in these pathways can result in pathological diseases, as they are essential for cellular integrity maintenance. This study highlights the significance of potential alternative disposal systems in cellular health and disease management by outlining their functions in different diseases and investigating new treatments that aim to block these pathways.","PeriodicalId":12791,"journal":{"name":"GSC Advanced Research and Reviews","volume":"13 18","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141795902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study investigated ciprofloxacin resistant urinary E. coli resistance via plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance (PMQR) genes rather than the chromosomal mutation of patients attending some Healthcentres in Nasarawa-West Senatorial District, Nasarawa State, Nigeria. Ninety-Two (92) 42% confirmed ciprofloxacin urinary resistant E. coli from patients attending the three (3) study Centres were screened for the presence of PMQR resistant genes (aac(6’)-Ib-cr, oqxA, oqxB, qnrA, qnrB, qnrS) using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method. The screening detected the presence of QnrA 4(44.4%), QnrB and QnrS both with 5(55.6%) occurrence, meaning aac(6’)-Ib-cr, QnrVC ,GyrA, ParC and others were not detected. It is clear that these isolates harbored some PMQR genes both singly and in combination. However, they also have other actions (pleiotropic effects) including antiproliferative, antithrombotic, neuroprotective, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive activity. The aim of this study was to determine the antinociception properties of rosuvastatin in two murine models of pain and the involvement of opioid antagonists (naltrexone, naltrindole, norbinaltorphimine), risperidone, and L-NAME (L-NG-nitro arginine methyl ester) in this effect. Rosuvastatin was chosen among available statins because it is commonly prescribed and has high potency, efficacy, and an acceptable safety profile. Rosuvastatin antinociception was evaluated in the acetic acid writhing test and the formalin hind paw test by dose-response curves, before and after the i.p. administration of opioid antagonists, risperidone, and L-NAME. This work demonstrates that the assayed drugs modulate the antinociceptive effect of rosuvastatin in both experimental murine pain tests. The antinociception effect described for rosuvastatin may be due to a particular modulation induced by the opioid antagonists, risperidone and L-NAME. Given the broad effects of rosuvastatin, the results of this study may have novel clinical implications in the therapy of pain.","PeriodicalId":12791,"journal":{"name":"GSC Advanced Research and Reviews","volume":"47 15","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140363299","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Adverse drug reaction (ADR) comes under the umbrella of Pharmacovigilance defined as the response to a drug which is noxious, unintended and which occurs at doses normally used in man for prophylaxis, diagnosis or therapy of disease or for the modification of a physiological function. This includes a case presentation reported for ADR; a 49 year old female patient visited the JSS Ayurveda Hospital, Mysuru on August 2023 and diagnosed to have Sandhivata. She was treated with medications internally and Kottamchukkadi churna for external application as lepa. On application of Kottamchukkadi churna, appearance of reddish rashes and itching over applied area of ankle joints of both legs was noticed. As such not any conclusive reports on Kottamchukkadi churna of previous ADRs have been reported. Currently there is utmost importance for ADR in clinical practice concerned to the public health is of prime importance; so there is a need to educate all the Medical Professionals and encourage them to analyse and report any adverse drug reaction or adverse effects that occur in a patient. This shall only be a step towards global acceptance of Ayurvedic drugs hence proper documentation and further evaluation is a need of the hour.","PeriodicalId":12791,"journal":{"name":"GSC Advanced Research and Reviews","volume":"39 24","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140364033","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
