Previously isolated, these systems must be converted to service-enabled architectures and integrated efficiently to gear towards the real world of fully automated, complex electronic transactions. Service-Oriented Computing (SOC) holds the visionary promise of a world of cooperating services where application services are encapsulated within old and new applications. This paper presents SmartWorld, a service-oriented architecture (SOA) which attempts to enable integration among Enterprise Information Systems using services as the basic constructs to support the development of rapid, low cost and easy modeling of Business Process interoperation.","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129688568","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Evaluation of multiple-output Boolean functions is faster than the one using binary decision diagrams (BDDs) and has a small memory footprint often required in embedded systems. A microprogrammed controller that firmware runs on is supposed to support multi-way branching in hardware, whose implementation is known. A novel heuristic technique of a sub-optimal multivalued MDD synthesis is presented and a specific condition for spatial efficiency of MDD-based firmware is derived. The method is illustrated on practical examples. It may be quite useful for development of embedded microcontroller firmware as well as for fast digital system simulation.","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"104 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124724724","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the paper, the design and software implementation are described of a generator of pseudorandom binary noise signal of adjustable length and with repetition of pseudorandom binary signal sequence. The parameters of noise outputs are stable, well defined and variable over a wide range. The noise generator described in this paper is a very simplified and software-emulated version of the HP 722A noise generator produced by Hewlett-Packard (1971).","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129104151","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The pressure sensor is based on the principle that the field emission current is correlated with the electrical field intensity, i.e. the variable anode-emitter distance caused by pressure changes when the applied voltage is fixed. The sensor consists of two main parts, silicon etched membrane anode and CNTs emitting array cathode. The silicon single crystal (Si) wafer with <100> orientation is doped by phosphorus to obtain low resistant value. The CNTs were grown by plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition by using iron as a catalyst in atmospheric pressure microwave torch. The field emission device has high emission current density, low threshold voltage, resistance to radiation, and quick response.","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133455374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The EDF algorithm allows us to schedule some tasks sets which are not valid with FP/FIFO scheduling policy, the classical scheduling implemented for OSEK. That is why we have improved our OSEK by implementing EDF algorithm. First of all, we identify the sources of overheads that influence the response time of the tasks: the context switching, the mechanisms used to activates/terminates and reschedules tasks, and the granularity of the periodic timer used to implement the periodic task model. We then show how to take into account those overheads in the classical EDF feasibility conditions. We compare the response times computed with theoretical feasibility conditions with kernel overhead to the results obtained on a real implementation. We show that the kernel overheads cannot be neglected and that our theoretical results are valid and can be used for a real-time dimensioning of an OSEK system with EDF scheduling policy. Finally, we compare the performances of our EDF implementation to the FP/FIFO native scheduling showing the benefits of implementing EDF in OSEK.","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"1028 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131474899","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper presents the transformational design of a communicating component which coordinates two almost synchronous streams. A proper message on one input channel is forwarded to the corresponding output channel as soon as there arrives a proper message on the other input channel as well. We refine the stream-based input/output behaviour to a state-based implementation exploiting two major transformations. The first transformation refines the component's infinite behaviour to a finite behaviour. The second transformation implements the component's finite behaviour by a state transition machine. The component's internal state is extracted from the input histories using a history abstraction function. Altogether, we explicate a formal method how to refine a specified infinite input/output behaviour of a communicating component by a state transition machine in the setting of almost synchronous streams.","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134379496","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The trend of pervasive computing and networking is going strong. At the same time, security threats on the Internet continue to increase. Existing defense mechanisms against network-based attacks can hardly apply to small network devices due to limitations of their computing resources. This paper presents a method to mitigate this problem. The approach embeds the attack detection mechanism inside the device's network module. It focuses on the operational behavior of the module to identify abnormal events. The mechanism does not compete for resources with the main function of the device. It has little impact on the system performance. Furthermore, the method may detect unknown attacks.","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"129 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131272050","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
