This study conducted a bibliometric analysis of 405 scientific papers on zakat recorded in the Scopus database until 2021. Various tools have been used – Microsoft Excel for frequency analysis, VOSviewer for data visualization, and Harzing’s Publish or Perish for metrics and citation analysis. This study finds that the number of zakat literature has increased significantly and consistently over the last ten years. The fields of Social Science, Business, Management, Accounting, Economics, and Finance are areas where zakat literature often appears in and is based in countries in the US, Europe and Asia. English is used in most zakat literature, along with several other languages like Malay, Arabic, German, Indonesian, Slovak, and Turkish. Research results also indicate that the zakat literature is mainly found in the subject areas of economics, finance, management, and accounting. The use of keywords such as zakat, Malaysia, zakat institution, poverty alleviation, zakat distribution, zakat management, social welfare, education, efficiency, and human are widespread. This study also found that Malaysia, Indonesia, America, Saudi Arabia, and Britain have become the five countries that have played a major role in creating collaborative zakat research. The findings of this study provide important implications for improving the practice and reach of zakat globally.","PeriodicalId":12715,"journal":{"name":"global journal al thaqafah","volume":"9 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83274552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of them is the Javanese dialect of Banyumasan, the oldest and most authentic among the local Javanese dialects. This variant of Javanese has an egalitarian character and is free from social stratification markers. This study aims to resolve the problems encountered by the translation team of Terjemah Al-Qur’an Bahasa Banyumasan who had to overcome substantial translation barriers due to the intercultural context. This study uses a qualitative approach. We found that socio-linguistic adaptation created significant barriers during the translation process. Certain topics require a distinctive vocabulary to reflect the original meaning and context correctly. Also, the use of a special set of words is needed to translate proper nouns. The translator’s decision to replace certain non-etiquette words with standard Javanese is to acknowledge the egalitarian character of the Banyumasan dialect in the translation, while yet preserving the original message of the Qurʾan and the intricacies of the Arabic language.","PeriodicalId":12715,"journal":{"name":"global journal al thaqafah","volume":"23 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91219555","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, not many of them use PBL in the field of religious education. This study attempts to describe the PBL model that has been applied in Indonesian pesantrens in Islamic religious education. Pesantrens are traditional Indonesian Islamic religious education institutions that emphasize Islamic religious education and character development. Three things are the focus of this research: the objectives of PBL in pesantrens, the design of PBL problems in pesantrens, and the PBL phase in pesantrens. This research was conducted using the case study method on one of the largest pesantren in Indonesia, the al-Anwar Pesantren, located in Karangmangu, Sarang, Rembang, Indonesia. Research results show that PBL in pesantrens had been implemented in the form of bahth al-masa’il (lit. problem discourse). Viewed from the aspect of purpose, pesantrens’ PBL places more emphasis on deepening the understanding of classical Islamic texts, while in the problem design, problems of PBL are not being designed by teachers, but are proposed and chosen instead by the students themselves. Meanwhile, in the phase aspect, pesantrens’ PBL gives more autonomy and responsibility to students to carry out the learning process independently.","PeriodicalId":12715,"journal":{"name":"global journal al thaqafah","volume":"59 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84756652","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It synthesized variables from previous studies, including Job Satisfaction (JSA), Business Process (BPR), Customer Satisfaction (CSA), and Financial Performance (FPE). Moreover, the study set nine hypotheses representing the relationship between JSA, BPR, CSA, and FPE. The hypotheses were accepted after the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) analysis of the financial data of the four biggest Indonesian Islamic banks and responses from 200 respondents. This finding confirmed the robustness of the model proposed in this study. The model denotes that the FPE results from the excellent implementation of JSA, BPR, CSA, and the interaction between these variables, which directly impact financial performance.","PeriodicalId":12715,"journal":{"name":"global journal al thaqafah","volume":"16 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87854706","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study focuses on tourists who visited the UAE between January 2019 and February 2020, with special emphasis on tourists from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). A mixed methodology approach is used to achieve the study’s objectives: a quantitative survey to collect data from 600 respondents, and in-depth interviews with 10 interviewees to obtain richer and more meaningful information about the respondents’ experiences and perceptions about the different halal tourism dimensions. Research findings revealed that cities’ security and safety measures, family entertainment activities, halal food diversity and international restaurant chains serving halal food are the most important factors influencing tourists to choose the UAE as one of the best halal tourism destinations. Overall, our respondents were highly satisfied with their halal tourism experience in the UAE. This is the first study that explores the determinants of tourists’ selection of the UAE as their next/best halal tourism destination, taking into consideration that Dubai is among the most visited cities in the world. Moreover, this study provides new theoretical and practical contribution to halal tourism. The findings could help tourism operators in the UAE to further develop halal tourism and to explore the opportunities it offers the country. The findings also have significant contribution to the tourism literature and to the practitioners and policy makers as well, since they provide important insights on the main factors that influence tourists’ selection of the UAE as their halal tourism destination. This can in turn help promote the UAE as valuable halal tourism destination regionally and internationally. This study also sheds light on new opportunities for the UAE to become the most attractive halal tourism destination. The findings will help practitioners to better understand halal tourism, in order to develop marketing strategies to attract Muslim tourists and encourage repeat experience.","PeriodicalId":12715,"journal":{"name":"global journal al thaqafah","volume":"176 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76724393","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper draws on Derek Gregory’s conception of homo sacer, which is initially derived from Agamben’s 1998 work. Homines sacri (singular: homo sacer), which emerge when the law suspends itself, are placed outside the law and can be abused and/or killed advertently. The insider–outsider perspectives in the aforementioned novels converge in the way that Iraqi civilians are given the ‘bare life’ status. The fragility and vulnerability of Iraqis in the face of American intervention can be seen both in life and death as the struggles of the living in performing the necessary Muslim ritual of cleansing and burying the deceased. However, the insider’s perspective in Antoon’s novel emphasizes the muted voices of the homines sacri.","PeriodicalId":12715,"journal":{"name":"global journal al thaqafah","volume":"5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81145139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the Malaysian halal standard has been widely acknowledged and accepted, it generally governs only the physical aspects, such as, hygiene, safety and quality assurance, raw material, processing, and logistic activities. What it is still lacking in is a few critical elements of “tayyib” as typically offered by the commentators of the Qur’an. Scattered within 51 verses throughout 14 major topics in the Qur’anic, the term “tayyib” (or its derivatives) has to be revisited and reconsidered as it covers other criteria not previously contemplated, such as, the natural and the organic, or those pertaining to the halal food-supply chain or the supply chain management. This article aims to explore and extract the notions of “tayyib” from the thematic exegetical perspective of the Qur’an so that such notions will in turn provide the extended platform necessary for industrial standards and practices. The qualitative research methodology is used in this study through the thematic analysis of the Qur’an.","PeriodicalId":12715,"journal":{"name":"global journal al thaqafah","volume":"69 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85531318","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various factors should give serious attention to curb this issue from spreading. This study was conducted to explore the extent of individual and spiritual factors that cause social and mental health problems among adolescents. It uses a qualitative study approach through a case study strategy. Through interviews with respondents in an individual counseling session, this study involves the purposive sampling method aimed at eleven adolescents aged 16 to 20 years who are undergoing rehabilitation. The data obtained from the interviews were analyzed thematically using the Atlas.ti application. Data analysis enabled the identification of underlying themes that further contributed to the main themes for this study. Results show three main themes identified for individual factors: low self-esteem, social interest, and personality formation. Meanwhile, for spiritual factors, two elements were successfully formed: belief and confidence and the motivation to worship. This study provides vital information and implications that may guide the stakeholders to create various models, modules, and interventions to treat and prevent adolescents from engaging in social problems that affect their mental health.","PeriodicalId":12715,"journal":{"name":"global journal al thaqafah","volume":"72 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83251660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
