The Intercloud scenario is based on the key concept that any cloud by itself does not have infinite natural resources or stable geographic location. The paper presents a distributed architecture for interconnecting existing cloud services, from different cloud providers (Firebase, Windows Azure, Parse), in order to achieve a scalable and flexible infrastructure. To validate the proposed solution an e-health prototype (both software and hardware) for monitoring a medical device (a pulse sensor) was built.","PeriodicalId":126559,"journal":{"name":"2015 Conference Grid, Cloud & High Performance Computing in Science (ROLCG)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123797901","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

User authentication, a security technology, allows access to data and information only to users which have an account and a password. Besides the well-known passwords users can chose other different authentication methods, i.e. electronic identity cards, smart cards or biometric methods, all of these being possible with some supplementary costs. A Single Sign On authentication method combined with a virtual keyboard represents a secure and efficient solution with low-costs implementation.","PeriodicalId":126559,"journal":{"name":"2015 Conference Grid, Cloud & High Performance Computing in Science (ROLCG)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128465308","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although intended to become a single access point to heterogeneous computing resources such as grids, HPC clusters and clouds within the Romanian National Grid Infrastructure (NGI-RO, [3]), the local instance of DIRAC was firstly used for the training of the end users. As training tool, DIRAC offers multiple advantages compared to the standard EMI user interface (UI), like its user-friendly job management portal and the absence of the requirement of EMI middleware installation on the DIRAC client. At GRIDIFIN the trainees have the opportunity to submit their test jobs in a multi-disciplinary environment, on the ronbio.ro, gridifin.ro or eli-np.eu virtual organizations (VOs), which are supported by the site. They can also compare the job handling efficiencies of the EMI and DIRAC workload management systems (WMSes) and report statistics regarding their activities. The user training experience provides valuable information for the future adaptation of the DIRAC framework to the running of WLCG preproduction tests.","PeriodicalId":126559,"journal":{"name":"2015 Conference Grid, Cloud & High Performance Computing in Science (ROLCG)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128290409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents the full design of a low-medium power electric solar collector with Stirling engine driven electric generator. We had to solve four main issues: the optimization of the geometry and dimensions of the parabolic solar concentrator, the thermal modeling of the heat receiver, the two rectangular coordinates sun tracking system and the choice of the appropriate Stirling engine model for the electrical generator driving. The system was designed for the specific weather conditions and the annual solar radiation characteristics of the Transylvanian plateau.","PeriodicalId":126559,"journal":{"name":"2015 Conference Grid, Cloud & High Performance Computing in Science (ROLCG)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116488269","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Following this social trend, the IT paradigm called Internet of Things (IoT) aims to group each technological end-point that has the ability to communicate, under the same \"umbrella\". In recent years many private or public organizations have discussed on this topic and tried to provide IoT Platforms that will allow the grouping of devices scattered worldwide. Yet, while information flows and a certain level of scalability and connectivity have been assured, one key component, security, remains a vulnerable point of IoT Platforms. In this paper we describe the main features of some of these “umbrellas”, either open source or with payment, while analyzing and comparing the security solutions integrated in each one of these IoT Platforms. Moreover, through this paper we try to raise users and organizations awareness of the possible vulnerabilities that could appear in any moment, when using one of the presented IoT Platforms.","PeriodicalId":126559,"journal":{"name":"2015 Conference Grid, Cloud & High Performance Computing in Science (ROLCG)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133369471","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this approach, the main input signal is considered the temperature at which the absorption phenomenon takes place. Also, the absorption process is treated as a non-linear process, the proposed mathematical model being an original one. In order to simulate the evolution in time of the absorbed CO2 concentration in octane, the structure parameters of the process are identified using experimental identification procedures. The usage of the experimental identification is possible due to the fact that some sets of experimental data are obtained from the real plant. The obtained mathematical model is a general one and it can be used for the simulation of the absorption process for any value of the temperature, respectively of the initial pressure from the absorber. In this context, some interesting simulation results are presented at the end of the paper. The main advantage resulted through the absorption process modeling is the possibility to determine, before starting the process, the necessary working temperature that has to be maintained in order to obtain the imposed value of the absorbed CO2 in octane, for any value of the initial working pressure.","PeriodicalId":126559,"journal":{"name":"2015 Conference Grid, Cloud & High Performance Computing in Science (ROLCG)","volume":"361 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122794966","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
