Institutional repository is an important service for academic societies, however the number of archived papers is not enough in most of institutions. The authors of the paper developed a system that supports authors of papers (that is, researchers) and managers of repositories in registration of papers. By connecting with external databases of published research papers, the system urges researchers register their papers to repository. Additionally, the system automatically searches the copyright policy for each paper also using external databases. This paper makes clear the problem of current institutional repositories, and then describes the detailed idea of the developed system as a solution. The system is expected to decrease the efforts of researchers and managers for paper registration, and increase the number of archived papers in institutional repositories thereby.","PeriodicalId":126169,"journal":{"name":"2011 3rd International Conference on Awareness Science and Technology (iCAST)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126558990","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

If we have a specific need, we can obtain the required information through checking the retrieved results one by one. However, in order to see the whole trend of the results, it is necessary to analyze and visualize the document group. In this paper, by storing a set of tourism-related future words in WordNet, which is a concept thesaurus, we proposed a method using information from WordNet to visualize a document group as a conceptual graph. With the structure of a thesaurus, this method enables us to understand the contents of document group at a glance. Furthermore, by comparing the thesaurus structures, which are obtained from different background document groups, we can grasp the differences.","PeriodicalId":126169,"journal":{"name":"2011 3rd International Conference on Awareness Science and Technology (iCAST)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131912637","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the supply chain process, the initial product planning and design stages play a crucial role in saving money and time in the production process. In particular, innovative design for improving a product makes enterprises more competitive. Innovation can be enhanced by constructing the information infrastructure to consider four attributes of the product: cost, quality, function and technology [10]. Extracting innovative design considerations for a product from the information infrastructure requires large knowledge bases and solutions to technical contradictions. The theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ) supports designers for innovative product design, but can require machine searching of large databases. We describe the construction of the TRIZ ontology and its application to the information infrastructure for product design in the SCM process. We show that TRIZ can automatically treat and share enormous amounts of information through its ontology. We can therefore deduce and suggest versatile alternatives to produce innovative products in the SCM process. This may open up new possibilities to design innovative products.","PeriodicalId":126169,"journal":{"name":"2011 3rd International Conference on Awareness Science and Technology (iCAST)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114972255","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed method uses wavelet to analysis the output voltage as the fault examples. Then the examples are reduced through attributes reduction to obtain a smaller set of all examples. And the new samples are trained to get the optimal cluster center of each fault. Finally, the fault component is located by comparing the distance between the test samples and the optimal cluster centers. The simulation result shows that the proposed method has high accuracy in diagnosis of tolerance analog circuits, and higher speed than pure artificial immune system.","PeriodicalId":126169,"journal":{"name":"2011 3rd International Conference on Awareness Science and Technology (iCAST)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115317233","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, a simple search of documents does not explain the meaning or the cause the status. Semantical interpretation and hypotheses generation are necessary for further analysis. This paper proposes a method to analyse the cause and the situation of bankruptcy with respect to particular condition that a user can specify as a query. The method is based on the theory of formal concept analysis. The novelty of the method is in (a) that sentences are considered as objects and words are considered as attributes and (b) that a concise subgraph of the concept lattice is introduced and used to guess the cause. Two cases of interactive and iterative process are shown where a user proceeds from a simple query to a new hypothesis, which would not be able to found by a naive cross tabulation or keyword extraction.","PeriodicalId":126169,"journal":{"name":"2011 3rd International Conference on Awareness Science and Technology (iCAST)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127259316","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This perceptual suppression approach has previously been used to investigate perceptual visibility correlates in visual cortex, mainly with linear methods, such as spectral analysis. While meaningful, the linear method alone may be insufficient for the full assessment of neural dynamics due to the fundamentally nonlinear nature of neural signal. In this contribution, we set forth to analyze local field potential (LFP) data collected from the multiple visual areas in V1, V2 and V4 of a macaque monkey while performing the GFS task using nonlinear method - adaptive multiscale entropy (AME) - to study the neural dynamics of perceptual suppression. We also propose a new cross-entropy measure at multiple scales, namely adaptive multiscale cross-entropy (AMCE), to assess the nonlinear interdependency between cortical areas. We show that: (1) multiscale entropy exhibits perception-related changes in all three areas, with higher entropy (i.e. higher complexity) observed during perceptual suppression; (2) the magnitude of the perception-related entropy changes increases systematically over successive hierarchical stages (i.e. from lower areas V1 to V2, up to higher area V4); and (3) cross-entropy between any two cortical areas reveals higher degree of asynchrony or dissimilarity during perceptual suppression, indicating decreased neuronal interdependency between areas. Our findings demonstrate that the adaptive multiscale entropy is a sensitive measure of perceptual visibility, and thus can be used to uncover perceptual awareness of a stimulus.","PeriodicalId":126169,"journal":{"name":"2011 3rd International Conference on Awareness Science and Technology (iCAST)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127514135","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, under the assumption that mixing matrix is orthogonal and source signals are sparse, Mishali et al. developed an amazing BSS method by using the support recovery of sources and the singular value decomposition (SVD). However, the performance of the algorithm is not as good as expected. In this paper, we present a novel BSS method that is performed by an identification of the mixing matrix by introducing the so-called pilot-signals. The pilot-signals are not required to be known, rather, they are required to have a known extent of sparsity. The method includes two phases, the mixing matrix estimation and the separation phases. The estimation phase is constructed with iterating of the three parts, support recovery, mixing matrix identification and pilot-signals recovery. The numerical experiments show that proposed method can efficiently converge and can recover the unknown source signals efficiently.","PeriodicalId":126169,"journal":{"name":"2011 3rd International Conference on Awareness Science and Technology (iCAST)","volume":"191 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116137677","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An IPTV set-top-box is now an important device in the Internet-of-things of each home. In this paper, we first review the recent developments to support emergency scenarios, including related IPTV standards and research in smart home. Then we propose an architecture for full-duplex emergency alert services based on IPTV platform. In order to maintain a very high availability of service, the key features of the architecture include the redundancy of devices and network connections and the scalability of data.","PeriodicalId":126169,"journal":{"name":"2011 3rd International Conference on Awareness Science and Technology (iCAST)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116589672","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
