Essentially, the book by N.I. Poletaeva is a comparative analysis of these periods according to the criteria that can characterize private entrepreneurial activity as a form of economic activity of the population, and entrepreneurs as a social group. This determined the structure of the work: first, the author examines the conditions of entrepreneurial activity, then analyzes the social characteristics of entrepreneurs and their territorial location, and, finally, analyzes the actual entrepreneurial activity in various sectors of the economy — agriculture, industry, trade, services, financial credit sector. Techniques and methods used by N.I. Poletaeva, when studying the history of entrepreneurial activity in Belarus, allowed her to come to consistent conclusions, but the main thing is to demonstrate such a level of research culture and such an approach to historical and economic analysis, which should become guidelines for researchers dealing with similar issues.","PeriodicalId":125647,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Economic History and History of Economics","volume":" 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138959871","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During this period, Russian entrepreneurs achieved significant commercial success in many Chinese cities. The promotion of their products in the Chinese domestic market was largely the result of their skillful advertising activities. Advertising in Russian became especially widespread in China after the end of the Civil War in Russia. The most important centers of entrepreneurial and advertising activity of Russian entrepreneurs have become the Chinese cities of Harbin, Tianjin and Shanghai. Advertising activities reflect both the economic sphere of life of the Russian diaspora and the social needs of its representatives. In the course of studying the history of Russian entrepreneurship and advertising of business enterprises owned by immigrants from Russia, the authors repeatedly conducted field research in China, during which they studied former Russian commercial enterprises, often operating at the present time. Sources on the research topic also included documents in Russian and Chinese stored in museums and libraries in Heilongjiang province, Harbin and Shanghai.","PeriodicalId":125647,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Economic History and History of Economics","volume":"6 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138959868","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The “paradigm of replacement” adopted by the supporters of perestroika, together with the “water” of ideology and presentism of orthodox Marxism, also splashed out the “child” — the methodological principles of historicism and empiricism, forcing historiography to follow in the wake of the approaches of the Western “mainstream”. Having fallen, along with the latter, into the trap of presentism of the “history of economic analysis”, having experienced the “loss of institutional viability”, historiography (more precisely, what was left of it) at the end of the road found refuge in the symbolic reality of “intellectual history”. True, at the cost of losing not only historicism, but also disciplinary identity (economic orientation) and its scientific character. As a result of the study, the author comes to the conclusion that the return of the lost methodological principles of historical realism and empiricism, interest in the content of economic knowledge and its analysis will be facilitated by turning to the historical-scientific historiographic approach, which not only follows the standards of professional historical science, but and using a dictionary, as well as theoretical models of the sociology of scientific knowledge, which set the conceptual framework for historical and scientific studies.","PeriodicalId":125647,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Economic History and History of Economics","volume":" 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138962594","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This job position appeared in the structure of the State Bank with the beginning of the reform of the small loan system in 1904. Inspectors were assigned a significant role in its practical implementation. The study of the problem showed that the absence of a local branch of the State Bank in the Olonets province at the beginning of the twentieth century. technically made it impossible for the position of small loan inspector to appear in the province. This has become a noticeable factor in the slow development of this system here. Due to the absence of small loan inspectors in the province, local provincial authorities tried to popularize credit partnerships among peasants through zemstvo chiefs. This approach failed. Only with the opening in the Olonets province of a branch of the State Bank and an inspection of small loans under it, the situation with the development of credit institutions in rural areas began to change for the better. The article studies the process of establishing the institution of small loan inspectors in the Olonets province, identifies the main difficulties of their work, and identifies local features. Attention is paid to the attitude of local peasants to the figure of the inspector.","PeriodicalId":125647,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Economic History and History of Economics","volume":" 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138961635","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It analyzes measures taken by authorities to stimulate, modernize technologically and support financially the agricultural sector and commercial sectors in the region, as well as dynamics of key production, economic and social indicators in such vital areas of rural economy as reindeer herding, fur farming, crop production, animal husbandry, fur trapping, marine and river fishing and sea mammal hunting. Despite undertaken efforts and achievements, the development of the industry was hampered by insufficient financing, lack of equipment and infrastructure, and shortage of qualified personnel. The leading sector remained reindeer herding, which provided up to a third of all cash income of collective farms. However, this sphere also saw declining productivity and performance indicators. The volumes of fur trapping and sea mammal hunting decreased substantially. Problems in many areas of agriculture and commercial sectors were associated with the elimination of Dalstroy's organizational units. The transitional period was characterized by stagnation in the development of agricultural and commercial sectors in the region.","PeriodicalId":125647,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Economic History and History of Economics","volume":" 31","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138961382","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the same time, M.G. Osipova can be called a pioneer in the study of Singapore's economic development in the post-Soviet academic space. It is noted that the value of the monograph is not only to disclose the mechanism of rapid economic growth of Singapore in a short historical period, but also to conclude that the main secret of its \"economic miracle\" is the creation of a unique national economic model, based on the careful consideration of specific historical conditions of development of Singapore society, its national, religious and cultural characteristics.","PeriodicalId":125647,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Economic History and History of Economics","volume":"3 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139360643","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The spatial division into regions, which differ from other regions in economic organization, is based on the division proposed by Russian historian and economist N.A. Rozhkov. For each such region the author singles out a branch of specialization, determines general factors of national economy development in the 16th century and shows their influence on spatial organization of economy. The author also compares them with economic and historical research of Johann Heinrich von Thünen, who in 1826 offered the theory of rings, or \"belts\" of spatial specialization. It is shown that such rings began to form in Russia in the 16th century, which became possible due to the active development of domestic trade and the inclusion of large cities in it, which became centers of vigorous trade activity and large markets for agricultural products. This in its turn was possible due to the influence of four essential factors of Russian economic development in the second half of the 16th century: 1) significant development of domestic trade (introduction of \"merchant trade records\"); 2) growth of quitrent in comparison to metayage; 3) conversion of corvees into monetary taxes; 4) change in money value. The study of spatial specialization of regional economies in the second half of the 16th century shows that in this period of history there was a resettlement of population from the center of the country into more remote regions, which in its turn contributes to diversification of the national economy and economic development of separate parts of the country and the whole country.","PeriodicalId":125647,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Economic History and History of Economics","volume":"22 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139360828","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
