Hybrid power systems that based on combination of multiple power sources (solar panels) and (diesel or gasoline) power generators are most favorable to use there, due to the small sizes and comparatively cheap initial prices of such systems. Renewable energy sources (RES) are intermittent in nature and change seasonally and daily, which make the hourly function evaluation, of electricity demand, is very important in the design of power systems based on these sources. In this work, average house electricity demand of Iraq’s middle territories is estimated, by considered Baghdad average house demand as representative for this region, in terms of appliances sizes and annual distribution of daily operation hours. Also, solar system is designed based on the estimated consumption profile. It’s found that the estimated profile with and without two tons of refrigeration air-conditioner system provide close results to the real values of Baghdad average house demand. Beside its reliability, independence and environmentally advantages, solar system that designed here show considerably cost effective than the private business diesel generator and discontinuous grid service in this area.\u0000","PeriodicalId":125088,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Electrical Power and Energy Systems","volume":"38 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141813264","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To accommodate these fluctuations, interface converters must adjust over a wide voltage range. The bipolar non-isolated DC-DC converter emerges as a promising solution due to its versatile modulation capabilities, reduced switch voltage stress, and cost-effectiveness. This article explores how wide voltage range regulation is achieved in bipolar DC-DC converters interfacing with bipolar DC power grids. It delves into the operational strategies and modulation techniques employed, ensuring stable output despite varying input voltages. Design considerations and challenges associated with implementing such converters are also discussed. An experimental platform was constructed to validate the proposed methodology. Through rigorous testing and analysis, the effectiveness of the topology's operation mode was confirmed. Real-world data from the experimental setup provided insights into the converter's performance under different operating conditions, supporting its applicability for bipolar DC distribution systems. In summary, this article provides a comprehensive examination of wide voltage range regulation in bipolar DC-DC converters, highlighting their potential to enhance efficiency and reliability in bipolar DC power grids. Through theoretical discussions and practical validation, it contributes to the advancement and adoption of these converters in modern energy systems.\u0000","PeriodicalId":125088,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Electrical Power and Energy Systems","volume":" 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141677909","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Especially, the non-isolated dc-dc converters have taken the dominant position in topology design of power source. This paper introduces the concept of output section evolution in non-isolated dc-dc converters, with the aim of integrating high ratio voltage boosting capacity. To achieve this, a series of novel output enhanced circuits are proposed and discussed in detail. These circuits are structured using capacitors and diodes, making them applicable to various positive output dc-dc converters. Notably, the derived topologies in this paper eliminate the need for additional power switches and transformers. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated through application cases based on both the classical boost converter and the developed voltage-lift SEPIC converters. These cases showcase the practical application and benefits of the proposed method. By following the topology construction method outlined in the paper, engineers can gain valuable insights and guidelines for designing circuits in the field of power electronics. Theoretical analysis has been verified in experimental prototype and the provided resources also serve as an educational tool for those studying power electronics engineering.","PeriodicalId":125088,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Electrical Power and Energy Systems","volume":"252 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140443356","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
