The proposed method introduces clamping of one inverter for 180° span of the rotation of the reference space vector. The proposed scheme neither requires sector identification nor lookup tables for the generation of the gating pulses. The switching pattern adopted in the present work ensures alternative clamping and switching modes every 180° for both the inverters. In the present scheme, the zero sequence currents are denied a path by using isolated power supplies. The proposed switching strategy envisages two-quadrant clamping of the inverters which results in lowering of the losses that occur in power electronic switches. Simulation studies have been carried out for the proposed SVPWM strategy using MATLAB/Simulink.","PeriodicalId":124701,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Power Electronics, Drives and Energy Systems (PEDES)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114322336","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An Interval System analysis is adopted to evaluate the interval extension of load parameters and then a PID controller is designed using Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO). The PID-PSO controller meets the requirement of robust design and the design specification is satisfied over the entire parameter set. The particle swarm optimization (PSO) method is used to determine near optimum PID controller parameters assuring improved response for uncertain load parameters. Here, all the analyses have been done for continuous conduction mode (CCM) mode of operation and simulation results are plotted in MATLAB.","PeriodicalId":124701,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Power Electronics, Drives and Energy Systems (PEDES)","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114883334","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work the controllers for DVR is proposed in stationary reference frame and injects a voltage which is in phase with the positive sequence of grid voltage. The method for load reference generation for stationary reference frame control is highly determinantal in the performance and operation DVR. Unlike other FACTS devices, DVR deals with unbalanced voltages (grid side) as well as balanced voltages (load side). This paper deals with the selection of appropriate method for load reference generation for proper operation of DVR. Synchronization issue faced due to load reference generation from load side is elaborated. Hence the load reference is generated from unit vectors extracted from the utility grid voltage. During sag/swell, the grid voltage will be unbalanced and the unit vector generation method should be able to accept/operate in the unbalanced condition. A modified synchronous reference frame PLL is proposed as appropriate method for unit vector construction for proper operation of DVR.","PeriodicalId":124701,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Power Electronics, Drives and Energy Systems (PEDES)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121473358","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Successful operation of Permanent Magnet (PM) motors with cogging/ripple free torque depends on sinusoidal flux density. Presence of cogging torque due to slotted stator in SMPM, SIPM and IPM motors is studied. The study will help in selection of different topologies of PMBL motors owing to their flux distribution, suitability at high speeds and torque production.","PeriodicalId":124701,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Power Electronics, Drives and Energy Systems (PEDES)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117323026","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Synthesized CZTS particles were in the form of nanosheets, consisting of nanorods, which was confirmed by FEG-TEM. CZTS films were coated on FTO (Fluorine doped tin oxide) substrate by inexpensive drop casting method. Electrochemical catalytic activity of CZTS counter electrode was studied using cyclic voltammetry. Dye sensitized solar cells (DSSC) fabricated with CZTS as counter electrode showed photo conversion efficiency of 7.56% as compared to Pt based counter electrode 8.34 % efficiency. However, if TUP is employed, use of the scheduling algorithm will benefit the consumer but not the utility as the MD will not get reduced but shifted. Hence in the future pricing schemes there will be a component dependent on the MD. In this paper, we develop an efficient algorithm which can be used under TUP with a bound on the MD. In our algorithm, the constrained optimization problem is converted to an unconstrained problem using the standard Lagrange multiplier approach.","PeriodicalId":124701,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Power Electronics, Drives and Energy Systems (PEDES)","volume":"112 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123383926","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In principle, the motor terminal voltages and currents are sampled and used to estimate the motor flux and torque. Based on estimates of the flux position and the instantaneous errors in torque and stator flux magnitude, a voltage vector is selected to restrict the torque and the flux errors within their respective torque and flux hysteresis bands. DTC based on hysteresis controllers suffer from certain drawbacks such as variable switching frequency and high torque ripple. This paper proposes a constant switching frequency DTC based on the concept of imaginary switching time. The proposed algorithm is simple to implement and avoids the requirement of reference voltage vector, sector identification and angle determination. This paper presents simulation study to compare the performance of the proposed DTC with conventional DTC. Simulation is carried out in MATLAB/Simulink. Simulation results clearly show that, there is significant reduction in the torque ripple while the proposed DTC is used and the locus of the flux is nearly a circle. The proposed scheme is implemented using TMS320F2812 DSP evaluation board.","PeriodicalId":124701,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Power Electronics, Drives and Energy Systems (PEDES)","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128674007","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Smart meters are required to identify home appliances to fulfill various tasks in the smart grid environment. Both intrusive and non-intrusive methods have been suggested for identification. However, intrusive method is not suitable for cost and privacy reasons. On the other hand, techniques using non-intrusive appliance load monitoring (NIALM) are yet to result in meaningful practical implementation. Two major challenges in NIALM research are the choice of features (load signatures of appliances), and the appropriate algorithm. Both have a direct impact on the cost of the smart meter. In this paper, we address the two issues and propose a procedure with only four features and a simple algorithm to identify appliances. Our experimental setup, on the recommended specifications of the internal electrical wiring in Indian residences, used common household appliances' load signatures of active and reactive powers, harmonic components and their magnitudes. We show that these four features are essential and sufficient for implementation of NIALM with a simple algorithm. We have introduced a new approach of `multi point sensing' and `group control' rather than the `single point sensing' and `individual control', used so far in NIALM techniques.","PeriodicalId":124701,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Power Electronics, Drives and Energy Systems (PEDES)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129148256","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
