Currently, broadband services have allowed the majority of the population to continue their work and study activities in home office. Nevertheless, this is not the reality of regions further away from large urban centers. Through measurements in the Digital TV UHF band, a waste of bandwidth has been observed, that is, the so-called TV White Spaces, which could be used by new broadband access services. This article presents a study on the advancement of TV White Spaces use in the world and a preliminary assessment through a measurement campaign to validate the use of this approach.","PeriodicalId":124570,"journal":{"name":"2021 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave and Optoelectronics Conference (IMOC)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122574219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two antenna arrays are considered, whereby each array is composed of three quarter-wave monopoles. Initially, the electro-magnetic model is presented and simplifications in comparison to the actual aircraft are discussed. Installed performance is assessed by electromagnetic simulations of the arrays placed onto the aircraft. Finally, an assessment of beamforming capabilities is performed, whereby particle swarm optimization is used to estimate the beamforming coefficients for different antenna pattern scenarios.","PeriodicalId":124570,"journal":{"name":"2021 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave and Optoelectronics Conference (IMOC)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122654811","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on a frequency division multiplexing technique, the evaluated scheme ensures that users do not lose their connection while they are moving in indoor environments. Each access point (AP) uses a particular channel band to transmit orthogonal frequency division multiplexing signals to a user. The simulation results, obtained in a scenario with two APs and one user, confirmed the connection maintenance in all tested links.","PeriodicalId":124570,"journal":{"name":"2021 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave and Optoelectronics Conference (IMOC)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132057031","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They have a relevant impact on the transmission quality of an optical signal in links with a cascade of amplifiers. This paper compares the OSNR Ripple and Tilt between the MOO and PSO adaptive control of operating point (ACOP) approaches in links with a cascade of amplifiers. The results show that both techniques have a similar performance for up to 7 amplifiers with mean values below 0.5 dB and 0.85 dB for OSNR Ripple and Tilt, respectively. In scenarios with eight amplifiers, the PSO performed worse, with mean OSNR Ripple and Tilt values exceeding 2 dB in the same scenarios.","PeriodicalId":124570,"journal":{"name":"2021 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave and Optoelectronics Conference (IMOC)","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114508655","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed technique is based on complex finite impulse response (FIR) filters estimated from the two stage dynamic equalizer on the reception digital signal processing stack. We conducted a series of system simulations to optimize pre-distortion setup and to evaluate its performance in increasing maximum achievable symbol rates for 16QAM and 64QAM. This proposal is based on the thin-wire approximation to reduce a surface current distribution to a filamentary electric current thus, reducing a tridimensional problem to a unidimensional formulation. In addition, the effects of the dielectric are taken into account by considering the effective electric permittivity and the multipole Debye model that does this correction over the analyzed frequency band. Finally, the results obtained with this proposed technique are compared with measurements and simulation in commercial software, and an error lower than 1.5% was verified for all the analyzed cases with a processing time approximately eight times lower when compared with a full-wave simulation.","PeriodicalId":124570,"journal":{"name":"2021 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave and Optoelectronics Conference (IMOC)","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125934264","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
