In many foreign countries, work to maintain the territories of linear infrastructure facilities in a standard state is carried out in strict accordance with certain methods of conceptual management of vegetation growth. At the same time, such management methods are practically unknown both to the domestic scientific community dealing with the issues of protective afforestation, and to those who make decisions on the need to influence unwanted trees and shrubs. The purpose of the study was to study and analyze systemic methods for managing unwanted tree and shrub vegetation growing on the territories of linear infrastructure facilities in order to improve the quality and efficiency of its removal, as well as to make recommendations for the proper maintenance of these territories. Cluster analysis of world research trends in forest vegetation management revealed 3 major areas associated with: a decrease or increase in species richness and diversity of vegetation, as well as the inadmissibility of its subsequent renewal; methods and means of influencing vegetation, including the benefits of vegetation management; ecological and aesthetic consequences of vegetation management, as well as public perception of the results of such management. The established principles for the application of the integrated vegetation management system (Integrated Vegetation Management: IVM), which is widespread in the world, are necessarily taken into account by organizations responsible for managing various protected zones and right-of-way. The most convenient for characterizing a selective approach to the management of unwanted vegetation growing in the territories of linear infrastructure facilities is the phrase «Integrated forest vegetation management». As the basic structure of the IVM system, the model proposed in 2005 by Nowak and Ballard is used, which provides for the implementation of a complete systems approach when influencing vegetation. It is inappropriate to combine in one step (the critical phase of this model) the monitoring of the potential effect of the impact on unwanted vegetation and the assessment of this impact. With further improvement of the IVM system, it is necessary to create a set of clearly defined and at the same time measurable indicators that fully reflect the achieved (or not achieved) effect from the impact on unwanted vegetation. It is shown that in order to introduce protective afforestation into domestic practice, IVM systems should not be a separate vegetation management tool, but a combination of management approaches, including not only the assessment of a plot of a linear infrastructure facility, but","PeriodicalId":12425,"journal":{"name":"Forestry Engineering Journal","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135535268","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Germination is related to various biological characteristics of seeds, including individual seed mass. The amount of endosperm nutrients contained in sound seeds can determine the energy available for germination. Experimental evidence of the influence of individual seed mass on germination is still quite small. To test the technology of planting material production with a closed root system, taking into account the individual spectrometric and morphometric features of the Negorelskaya variety for each varietal seed of the Scots pine (P. sylvestris L.), three random sets of 400 de-winged seeds (N = 1200) were sown manually in 40-mesh SideSlit containers of an automated forest nursery. To test the hypothesis about the influence of the individual seed mass of the Scots pine (P. sylvestris L.) varieties \"Negorelskaya\" on the indicators of its germination in SideSlit containers on the 30th day, a single-factor analysis of variance was used with a check of uniformity according to the Levene's criterion and a posteriori LSD test of averages. The individual mass of the sown seeds varied from 1.0 to 13.3 mg (m ± SD | 60.1 ± 17.5 mg). The average values of the germination index of the seeds of Negorelskaya variety Scots pine (P. sylvestris L.) on day 30 in the volume of 6,8,12,16,18,26 SideSlit containers statistically (Levene's criterion 6.35, p = 1.98e-22; ANOVA F-criterion 1.291, p = 0.0139; a posteriori criterion LSD p < 0.05) differ from the indicator in 2,7,10,11,13,19,22,24,26,27,29 containers. The average values of the individual mass of 942 seeds germinated on the 30th day in the cells of SideSlit containers of the automated forest nursery statistically (Levene's criterion 11.317; p = 0.000792; ANOVA F-criterion 12.098; p = 0.000523) differ from the average values of the individual weight of the ungrown 258 seeds of the Negorelskaya variety Scots pine (P. sylvestris L.). In the future, this seed germination on day 50 in SideSlit containers and comprehensive quality indicators of the seedlings, including DQI and RQI, will be studied.","PeriodicalId":12425,"journal":{"name":"Forestry Engineering Journal","volume":"2021 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135535269","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To identify the phenotypic, cultural and cytological characteristics of two birch species naturally growing in the Central Black Earth Region - silver birch (diploid) and downy birch (tetraploid), test cultures of seed origin F1 and F2 were specially created. The article presents data on phenotypic (growth in height in the juvenile and reproductive periods of ontogeny), genetic selection (seed propagation system) variability and some characteristics of the introduction of F1 seed progeny of breeding forms of local birch species into in vitro culture. To predict the growth characteristics of seed progeny of breeding forms of local birch species obtained by different methods of pollination - self-pollination and open pollination at different stages of ontogeny (at the age of 2 and 10 years), a statistical processing of the feature of growth in height of families was carried out using the rank Spearman's correlation coefficient ρ. Species specificity was shown in response to different pollination methods, morphogenic activity of self-fertile and self-sterile forms of these birch species on a nutrient medium ½ MC + 6-benzylaminopurine 1 mg/l, primary shoot formation of explants and regenerative capacity in these species, the nature of morphogenesis (formation of the main escape). For the polyploid species (downy birch), a higher level of self-fertility was established, as well as a more intensive growth of shoots in height than for drooping birch; primary explants in the former had a different character of morphogenesis (there was a joint initiation of the main shoot with adventitious ones) than in silver birch (formation of the main shoot), which indicates a greater adaptive potential for polyploid species and their greater opportunities for inclusion in genetic breeding experiments and obtaining valuable breeding forms.","PeriodicalId":12425,"journal":{"name":"Forestry Engineering Journal","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135536476","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The features of the formation of 12-year-old forest plantations and the concomitant natural regeneration of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) were studied under the conditions of berry pine forest and forb pine forest of the Middle Urals, on trial plots established in accordance with the existing requirements. For each Scotch pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) tree, the diameter at the middle height and height were measured, and the volume of the trunk in the bark was calculated. The rank distribution of trees was carried out by calculating their reduction numbers, determining the amplitude of the reduction numbers and subsequent distribution into 5 main classes. In the 12th year after planting, the survival rate in the berry pine forest was 47.0%, and in the forb pine forest - 35.3%. In the berry pine forest, taking into account the concomitant natural regeneration of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.), a pine forest of artificial and natural origin is being formed, and in the forb pine forest, a pine forest of natural and artificial origin is being formed. The process of natural renewal of Scotch pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) took place over several years. Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) trees of natural origin are 2-7 years younger in biological age than trees of artificial origin. Pine trees of artificial origin in the berry pine forest significantly exceed the average diameter at the middle of the height, height and trunk volume of the same trees in the forb pine forest. Pine trees of natural origin in the berry pine forest are significantly superior in average diameter at the middle of the height to trees in the forb pine forest, but they are significantly inferior to them in the average trunk height and practically do not differ in the average volume of the tree trunk. Trees of artificial origin in terms of diameter at the middle of the height, height and volume of the trunk significantly exceed trees of natural origin both in the berry pine forest and in the mixed grass pine forest. The distribution of trees by diameter and height in young forests of artificial and natural origin, both in the berry pine forest and in the forb pine forest, is characterized by a distribution close to normal. The distribution of trees of artificial and natural origin in the berry pine forest and the forb pine forest in terms of trunk volume is distinguished by left-sided asymmetry and sharpness. When distributed by rank height classes, a significant reduction in the level of variability of biometric indicators is provided. However, in natural young stands, a very high level of variability in stem volume in the bark remains. Both in artificial and natural young stands, the main (86.3-97.5%) stock of trunk wood in the bark falls on trees of I-III height classes. One of the main active working bodies is disc working bodies, which are mounted on various forestry and agricultural machinery: plows, seeders, harrows, etc. and are intended for processing forest areas during reforestation. Disk working bodies are classified, which are divided by type, purpose and design. Due to the fact that forest soils are flooded with roots, stumps, stones, and when carrying out reforestation work they need high-quality preparation, it is required to increase the number of passes through the cultivated territory. Disc working bodies from the moment of their creation continue to undergo improvements aimed at increasing efficiency, increasing strength characteristics, etc. Disc working bodies represented a wide range of design features, but in the subsequent range was concentrated on reducing traction resistance. A change in the design in the process of studying the working body led to the creation of cutouts of various geometric sizes, one of the positive characteristics was a decrease in the traction force required for cutting, crumbling the soil, as well as an increase in quality characteristics.","PeriodicalId":12425,"journal":{"name":"Forestry Engineering Journal","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135535438","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Works on cleaning the territories of infrastructure facilities from unwanted tree and shrub vegetation are often organized without a sufficiently clear idea of the characteristics of the said vegetation to be removed, which negatively affects the quality of the performance of these works.The purpose of the research is to determine the species composition of undesirable plant communities that form on the territories of linear infrastructure facilities in order to increase the efficiency of their removal and draw up recommendations for the proper maintenance of these territories. It was revealed that most types of undesirable vegetation growing on the territories of linear infrastructure facilities in the Central part of Russia belong to Magnoliophyta (flowering, about 97 %) and Pinophyta (gymnosperms, about 3 %).It was revealed that most types of undesirable vegetation growing on the territories of linear infrastructure facilities in the Central part of Russia belong to Magnoliophyta (flowering, about 97 %) and Pinophyta (gymnosperms, about 3 %). About 54 % of the protection zones of power lines and right of way of roads, as well as about 33 % of the right of way of railways in the Central part of Russia have a similar species composition of unwanted vegetation, however, the maximum similarity is not ensured by the location of sections of infrastructure facilities in close proximity to each other. For the protection zones of power lines, it is possible to determine the species composition of growing undesirable vegetation in one of these areas, followed by dissemination of the results of the study to another nearby area. For railroad right of way, such dissemination of the study results is inappropriate. In fact, on each of the sections of the right of way of roads and railways, as well as the routes of power transmission lines in Central Russia, such types of unwanted vegetation grow as ash-leaved maple (Acer negundo L., with a share of participation in the studied plant communities from 6.3 % to 98.1 %) and smooth elm (Ulmus laevis Pall, with a share of 1.1 % to 41.1 %). Among the types of unwanted trees and shrubs most expected to grow in these territories, about 36 % are prone to their renewal by stump growth, about 42 % – by root offspring, about 22 % – by other means. To increase the efficiency of removing unwanted vegetation in order to properly maintain the territories of infrastructure facilities, it is recommended to apply methods and methods that provide for either mechanical removal of the specified vegetation along with its roots (for example, its uprooting), or a combined effect on it: removal of above-ground parts of vegetation in the fall with a mandatory subsequent spring her","PeriodicalId":12425,"journal":{"name":"Forestry Engineering Journal","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136215868","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the promising areas is the formation of a digital terrain model and its subsequent study. In this regard, the purpose of the work is to identify relationships and establish dependencies between the parameters of the relief and forest conditions for the accelerated determination of key forestry and landscape characteristics, incl. using remote methods. The objects of the study were forest plantations located in the Prigorodnoye forestry of the Voronezh region. The formation of a digital terrain model was carried out on the basis of aviation and space monitoring materials using specialized software. In the course of the work, features of the terrain were identified that potentially affect the formation of growing conditions, and tabular analytical materials were compiled that allow taking into account landscape factors on a per-allocation basis. Data on the average slope steepness, slope exposure azimuth and height above sea level of each section in degrees were obtained and their statistical parameters were analyzed.A correlation was established between the forest typological component, which characterizes the moisture content of the soil and the height of the site above sea level (0.23-0.29), as well as the steepness of the slopes (0.30-0.32). The results of the research indicate that such a trend can be traced even with insignificant elevation changes and slope steepness, which are typical for the Prigorodnoye forestry. Wetter soil conditions in the territory of the study region (A3, B3, C3) are located on micro depressions or have groundwater close to the surface. The revealed pattern will make it possible to carry out an accelerated determination of growing conditions by a remote method based on terrain indicators and consider the proposed methods as potential tools for forest accounting.","PeriodicalId":12425,"journal":{"name":"Forestry Engineering Journal","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136215961","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the one hand, most of the natural coniferous forests of the boreal zone have pyrogenic origin, and forest fires are a natural component of the successions of coniferous forests. On the other hand, forest fires cause great damage, consisting in the costs of extinguishing them, burnt material values, including damaged stands on the root, as well as environmental damage - pollution of the air basin over large areas, pollution of runoff into reservoirs, etc. Different tree species, in different forest growing conditions, react differently to the pyrogenic effects of different intensities. A striking example is the larch forests of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), growing on permafrost, and very well adapted to fairly frequent wildfires. The adoption of management decisions on the types and methods of reforestation after forest fires of various intensity should be based on predictive models of the course of natural reforestation. To compile such a model for the forests of the Irkutsk region, full-scale experimental studies were carried out, consisting in the examination of hares of different years, after forest fires of varying intensity. As a result of statistical processing of the experimental data obtained, mathematical dependences of the development of a multicomponent forest ecosystem, including coniferous and deciduous trees of the younger, middle and older age groups, presented in this article, were compiled. The durability of PTM is mainly determined by the durability of the supporting metal structure. The analysis of various methods for assessing the reliability of PTM metal structures, taking into account the fatigue strength of the material, is given. It is established that one of the ways of designing structures with a minimum mass is to increase the design resistances of materials, however, the margin factor is inconvenient for assessing the readiness of the structure for operation. It is necessary to create a more universal criterion – the probability of failure. The aim of the work is to develop a methodology and algorithm for quantifying the probability of safe operation of a metal structure, taking into account the reduction in load-bearing capacity. To study the fatigue strength indicators of crane beams of forest complex machines and the factors influencing it, a crane of various lifting capacities of 32/5 tons is considered. The calculation of the fatigue strength of the metal structure of the crane was made. The number of loading cycles in the 3K operating mode after the expiration of 5 years is N=3,0∙10^5. With the material used, steel C255 [GOST 27772-88] with a temporary Run=380 MPa and a calculated Rv fatigue resistance taken depending on the temporary resistance of steel Run, therefore, Rv=120 MPa, fatigue strength was from 328.88 MPa to 167.98 MPa for various time intervals of 5-50 years. The calculated dependences of the safety coefficient on the operating time of the crane with a lifting capacity of 32/5 tons, depending on the operating mode of the crane from 7.9 to 2.01, are obtained. The results obtained can be used in the design of PTM metal structures also in construction and agriculture.","PeriodicalId":12425,"journal":{"name":"Forestry Engineering Journal","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136215790","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Experience in the operation of road trains on such logging roads shows that on these roads the transport and operational qualities of logging road trains are low. The relevance of the scientific direction, aimed at achieving the fuel efficiency of logging road trains and thus increasing the efficiency and competitiveness of logging enterprises, is substantiated. An analysis of the work of foreign scientists is presented, which made it possible to identify significant factors that largely determine the efficiency of the process of hauling timber by timber road trains. A promising design of the coupling device is proposed, which allows converting and usefully using the kinetic energy of the mass of the trailer with timber, which occurs during the movement of a road train along insufficiently equipped logging roads in unsteady and transient traffic modes. The study was based on mathematical and simulation modeling, numerical methods, as well as modern methods for obtaining and processing information with computer support. A mathematical model and a computer program for the movement of a timber road train under changing road conditions have been developed. Computer simulation made it possible to carry out a preliminary assessment of the performance of the proposed pneumohydraulic coupling device with recuperative and damper mechanisms by identifying and analyzing dependencies characterizing the change in the studied performance indicators on the driving conditions of the road train and the design parameters of the device. It has been established that the coupling device during the movement of a logging road train in difficult road conditions at a speed of 30 km/h makes it possible to recuperate up to 7 kW, while the value of the longitudinal acceleration of the trailer link relative to the logging vehicle does not exceed 0.83 m/s2. It is determined that the value of the optimal diameter of the recuperative hydraulic cylinder is 80 ... 100 mm, and the optimal piston stroke is 83 ... 100 mm. In this case, the average power recuperated by the device will be at least 7 kW, and the average longitudinal acceleration of the trailer will be no more than 0.8 m/s2. It was found that the developed recuperation system remains effective in a wide range of roughness heights of 0.2 ... 0.4 m, providing a recuperated power of 2.3 ... 19.7 kW, respectively, with an acceptable average longitudinal acceleration of 0.3 ... 2.2 m/s2. The results obtained will be used as recommendations for designers to refine the proposed coupling device at the design stage.","PeriodicalId":12425,"journal":{"name":"Forestry Engineering Journal","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136215874","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
