The aim of the study was to identify processes that contribute to improve such alignment. This study represents a continuation of previous validation efforts that helped us to confirm the business-IT alignment process areas that should ultimately be included in the ICoNOs MM - a maturity model to assess operational business-IT alignment in networked organizations. Evidence was sought for the alignment of business and IT through the use of information systems to support the requirements of the organization in a specific project. The results of this study in the public sector also are relevant to the private sector where (i) business-IT alignment plays an increasingly valuable role, and (ii) the characteristics of collaborative networked organizations are present.","PeriodicalId":124214,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Technology Management Conference (ICE)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124428439","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

(DiFac brochure, 2007). This paper describes the results of the research project named DiFac (FP6-2005-IST-5-035079) founded by the European Commission. DiFac realized a suite of results able to drive manufacturing SMEs from Digital to Virtual Factory. The DiFac Integrated Scenario illustrates the modularity and scalability of the project results. The paper shows a not so far in the future daily life in a possible manufacturing factory named SECONDA Laser Machine. At the same time, negative impacts can be drastically reduced if new collaborative business models and strategies are defined integrating both end-users and different actors in the construction value-chain. Therefore, this paper introduces a general overview of a collaborative research project carried out by ITESM and CEMEX to develop and deploy a novel Sustainable Construction Living Lab (SCLL) model to bring together key construction stakeholders into an open innovation and user-centric environment, supported by a high-tech platform, providing working principles, methods and a governance model to identify next generation construction innovations (e.g. products, services, processes, business models, etc.) in order to satisfy the current and emerging market demands in a sustainable way.","PeriodicalId":124214,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Technology Management Conference (ICE)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123460774","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It turns out that the attitudes of the observed perceived by the observers in social relationships can be understood as the result of two sets of conjugate parameters (strengths of beliefs and their valuations). When the assessments of these parameters are considered to take place in different universes (virtual environment and real-life environment) they are argued to be subject to uncertainties that are compared to Heisenberg's uncertainty principle, and the rules of quantum logic apply. Any individual interacting with a virtual collaborative context and having to decide on courses of action in a real-life environment is constrained by the lack of precision of the attitudes to take and by inductive reasoning.","PeriodicalId":124214,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Technology Management Conference (ICE)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116529040","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The technologies, services and collaboration tools have been developed, integrated and validated in various living labs addressing different contexts of eProfessional working. This paper reports about the Living Lab for Professional Communities of Innovation and covers three different user environments where innovative tools, services and practices have been experimented in different experimental settings. The first setting addresses the support of new work and collaboration practices in professional education. The second setting focuses on collaboration among business and research partners in promoting regional innovation. The third setting is about collaborative innovation in virtual communities. In the three settings, different user communities have adopted and experimented different sets of collaboration services. The paper presents the living lab methodology designed to launch, operate and monitor the different innovation and validation settings. Based on a cross-comparison of results and a longitudinal analysis, conclusions are drawn regarding the effectiveness of innovation services and collaborative platform, strategies to involve users and building user communities, and the effectiveness of the living labs methodology.","PeriodicalId":124214,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Technology Management Conference (ICE)","volume":"15 12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127633634","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Small to medium sized companies do not have enough human resources to enable staff to be dedicated to the job of tending and monitoring market opportunities, and hence company officials have to fit in this job around their usual duties. This paper proposes a knowledge discovery and mining approach to assist the tender offer selection process. Knowledge discovery and mining assures identification and matching of the areas of interest and other criteria of selection of the tender offers, while multi-criteria decision making supports the consideration of other relevant factors for selection.","PeriodicalId":124214,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Technology Management Conference (ICE)","volume":"394 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131065894","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
