The purpose of this study was to determine the significance of the effect of applying the PBL learning model on the critical thinking competence of sixth-grade elementary school students on circle material. The approach applied in this study is a quantitative approach with a pre-test and post-test critical thinking design type. Data collection techniques in this study used critical thinking tests. The participants who were included in this study were 25 students of class VI at SDN 173270, siborong – borong , north sumatera. Data analysis using a one-sample t-test. Based on the calculation of the hypothesis testing is done using the t-test. The normality test results for the value of critical thinking results are 0.139 > ? (0.05) exceeding the significant value, then the variable values are normally distributed, followed by using the one-sample t-test, the t-test results on the equation of the variance section which are assumed to show the Sig value (2)-tailed) < ? ie 0.000 < 0.05 then reject H0. So it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the application of PBL on the mathematical critical thinking skills of grade VI elementary school students.","PeriodicalId":123598,"journal":{"name":"Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121925872","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research was conducted in class IX, a junior high school in Semarang. Six subjects were selected purposively, with high, moderate, and low academic ability, two students each. Data collection uses test scores, academic fraud scales, and interviews. The technique of checking the validity of the data is through triangulation of sources and methods. This study shows that students with high, moderate, and low academic abilities commit academic fraud when taking the same exam but with different intensities. The background of the fraud is greed, opportunity, need, and exposure. The form of fraud is copying answers on the internet or collaborating with other friends while doing exams. Students do this because of the effects of online learning and the lack of supervision from the teacher during the exam.","PeriodicalId":123598,"journal":{"name":"Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114131969","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is one of the implications of the abstract nature of mathematics. For this reason, mathematics learning is designed in such a way by bringing mathematics closer to the real-life context and student experience. Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) is an alternative learning approach that is able to reduce the gap between abstract mathematics and real life. This research was conducted using a quasi-experimental method that aims to test the effectiveness of RME in mathematics learning in elementary schools. The study used one group pretest-post test design. A study sample of N = 19 was selected from class V of SD Negeri 2 Labalawa, Baubau City. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and non-parametric inferential statistics. The results showed that the average gain score of pretests and post-tests reached 44.09 with a Standard Error of Mean of 3,763 and 4,811, respectively. The test results of the average difference between the pretest and post-test were declared significant at a confidence level of 95% or α=0.05. The indication is indicated by a Mann-Whitney test value of 23,000 with a2-tailed asymptotic fiancy value of 0.000 < 0.05. The results of the data analysis of this study concluded that the implementation of RME has a significant effect on mathematics learning outcomes in elementary schools. The results of this study have positive implications for changing the teaching style and learning style of students from teacher oriented to students oriented.","PeriodicalId":123598,"journal":{"name":"Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA","volume":"106 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123446645","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These skills are often associated with computer science but are now starting to be integrated with other fields of science, including learning mathematics. This literature review aims to study the benefits and challenges of computational thinking (CT) in learning mathematics. This literature review analyzes six references from the Scopus database based on predetermined keywords. Furthermore, content analysis was conducted to see the advantages and challenges of implementing CT in mathematics classes. Based on a literature review, there are several benefits of computational thinking in mathematics class, one of which is that CT improves student performance in learning mathematics; through CT skills, namely generalization and algorithmic thinking, it can help students solve computational problems well, learning that involves CT has the potential to have a positive influence on higher-level thinking skills (logic, algorithmic, and problem-solving views), as well as helping students solve real problems that he found. However, several challenges need to be faced, including the need to pay attention to the duration of learning to improve CT skills, the need for resource readiness which includes teacher competence, teaching materials, and assessment instruments, and teachers need to prepare and design didactic sequences. This literature review is expected to provide educators with an understanding of the extent to which CT can shape mathematics learning to be more creative and meaningful","PeriodicalId":123598,"journal":{"name":"Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131358056","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
